California Senate Passes Bill To Create "Fast Food Council" With Wage-Setting Power | ZeroHedge (www.zerohedge.com)

The 10-member council, which would include four worker representatives, four employer representatives and two state officials, would have the authority to increase California's fast-food minimum wage to as much as $22 in 2023.

So 6 activist labor union Democrats vs 4 symbolic "employer lobbyists" who can just get outvoted like they're not even there.

The labor commies in CA are trying to destroy fast food. Okay. I don't eat it anyway. It won't affect me, but it will piss off a lot of people.

Funny how literally everything the Left does is designed to fuck over commerce and the economy with socialist bullshit.

Legislatures love to delegate their power to rule-making agencies. There are limits to how much they can do this, but it is a huge cancer at the federal level. I'm not sure where the limits are.

And the Supreme Court just struck this down on the federal level. Which is hilarious, because it sent dems fucking freaking for a day or two.

Law is paper. Power is power.

What do you mean legal? The law is what law-making bodies says it is. There is no Federal right-to-work, and properly it's not the Federal government's business anyways. So, unless there's something in the California Constitution to prevent it, it's legal. I don't know the California Constitution that well.

They did just ban truck owner-operators, though, so I'm guessing it's not that good for individuals.

This is bullshit theory in action. Fast Food is not why people are fat. Less activity, and more sugar/starches in their diet is why. They put sugar in everything because it masks the flavor of the shit it's made with and people eat more of it.

Fat is unhealthy. I know, am fat, is unhealthy. Fat is just the most noticeable form and easiest to associate with this argument.

A high starch food is not inherently bad. Neither is consuming it everyday. It his how much and what they are doing/consuming the rest of the time that determines how healthy the person will be.

I'm guessing this will only apply to chains. Your local immigrant-owned fast food place that's no healthier, possibly worse, will be gtg.

If they're paying $23/h, then your Big Mac combo is going to be $21.

I did a study a few months ago where I looked at automation vs workers. Everything I could think of was being automated. I came to realize that a food court at mall, the mall itself, or a small theme park could be run by a single competent person.

When I bring it up with theme park folks or mall HRs, they say that humanity isn't like that. I usually don't have the heart to tell them that I've seen them parks have one fixit guy. If it's all automation, then that single guy just expands his work. He'll get paid very well, but no one else will have a job.
