Pretty much, before the alphabet organisations existed we only had men and women, not even mad emperor Caligula who went to war with the sea argued differently.
This is an extremely recent thing and if I were to pinpoint when the push hit the general public than something done in the shadows it would be somewhere in the 2000s
It’s definitely a very recent thing, and the most frustrating aspect is how they always try to claim that “past societies”, particularly indigenous (o wise magical Native American), had a concept of genders other than male and female.
BULLSHIT! They just had males who sometimes took on female roles, and vice versa. As EVERY society has had. No one in 15th century pre-Columbian America was talking about different genders and pronouns you dumb shit-for-brains commies.
But even if it were true that past societies did believe in a bunch of stupid made up genders, that doesn’t make it REAL nor does it mean our much more advanced and science-based society should give a damn. But unfortunately the sciences in the West have been hijacked by these ideologues so they are now claiming that it’s all “in line with the science” too.

I would say 2010s. Really about the time GG started. Even the "Human Rights Campaign" was being criticized for not supporting it as recently as 2011.
The entire "many genders" idea didn't seem to be taken seriously by much of anybody, even leftists. Children inventing genders on Tumblr was treated as a joke and not reality. Even the concept of "transgender" wasn't taken to mean that there are more than two genders, just that some people (think they) are born as the wrong one.
You mentioning Tumbler got me thinking, you think when Tumbler got the rule changes and went off a cliff it, caused a containment leak where all the people that was 'otherkin' and the like mass infected other platforms?
I don’t think it helped, but ultimately what I think is worse has been those Tumblr kids aging up while being told by their teachers that it’s definitely not just a phase.
Leftists have transformed adolescent rebellion into a lifelong commitment for their own political gain and to the detriment of those involved. I don’t think they necessarily even care that it comes in the form of radical gender ideology, just that it’s a useful tool.

Reminder to never cede territory whenever possible. Gender has always meant sex. To say otherwise is simply incorrect. If somebody says "gender does not exist" then they ignore when it did have a real meaning.

Yep, I used to make the mistake of letting them redefine 'gender' mean 'the sex of my brain' - in essence 'the way my brain thinks'.
Then they kept pushing things to places I wasn't willing to go, and I now realize that 'gender' was just the thin end of a wedge of nonsense. We already have a word for 'the way my brain thinks', and that word is 'personality'.

See, I've always interpreted gender to be the percentage of maleness/femaleness if that makes sense. Like sex is definitive man/woman, but you can very easily argue that some women act more "feminine" than others and some men act more "masculine". The whole lgb thing I strongly disagree with though.
Gender is a grammatical concept that tells us what types of words are used in what context. His/hers, male/female, and gendered nouns in languages that have them.
For sure some men are effeminate and some women are manly. No matter how masculine or feminine a male or female acts, the language we use to describe them is based on their sex and does not change - unless commies try to change it for social engineering.

To paraphrase Dr. Brett Weinstein, who actually is a biologist, what sex commies call “gender” is essentially the same thing as what biologists call “sex roles”. And it’s seen throughout the animal kingdom that male and female animals will behave differently and perform different tasks. For example, there are species of birds where the female will incubate the eggs and the male will bring food back to the nest. So the fact that men and women naturally gravitate towards different careers or different chores/tasks within a relationship is entirely expected. So when you see feminists tell women to act like men or trannies tell mentally I’ll men to act like women, it’s just the usual commie tactic of fighting against reality itself once again.

This isn't entirely true. A lot of the time, claiming to be another gender is just plain narcissism. A claim that you are different from the masses, more special than they are, better actually, and thus they need to address you by your proper
titlepronoun in any and all places and contexts. Because you are a noble aristocrat and they are worthless peasants who cannot possibly comprehend the burden it is to be you. And that since you are not either of the "regular" genders, that you are thus subject to oppression, particularly from the tyrannical Patriarchy, and are thus entitled to the same privileges and protections afforded to the other minorities, because you will surely be disadvantaged without them.Though I suppose you could claim narcissism is a mental illness as well. But if it is, then I would consider it the psychological equivalent to Bubonic plague, something so deadly and dangerous that you cannot and should not be part of ordinary society.
I think a lot of kids are doing it to fit in, or meet the expectations of their deranged parents too.

tldl; the point is to insert confusion into really obvious categories, like man and woman, until normal people are indoctrinated that they can't trust their own senses and faculties. They need "experts" to tell them who is male and female. And these "experts" are (gasp) the gender professors who as pushing this bullshit.
This is true, but way too many people are still afraid to say the same thing about homosexuality. Even among the red pilled community, you're not supposed to say that homosexuality is a disorder or mental illness or even a fetish... we're all supposed to pretend like gay marriage was wonderful and gay people are completely normal.
