Sports shouldn't be getting any public funding at all.

But if governments divert tons of money to sports teams and stadiums, then they might have to do something useful with the money. And then they have less shiny roofs

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting he does not-Magic: The Gathering videos too. It is satisfying that this fact causes the pozzed MtG community distress.

They ask the taxpayer for money, but they seem to have plenty if they can afford to give it away to organizations that want us to be slaves. Get fucked,

On May 26, the Rays issued a statement decrying the recent mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde, Texas, and said the franchise would be making a $50,000 donation to Everytown for Gun Safety, a gun-violence prevention organization.

What are these pieces of trash? Spoiler alert: they love pedos.

This is a gross miscarriage of justice. A white teenager got his hands on a semi-automatic rifle, showed up to a demonstration for Black Lives, shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz, now 27—and he will face no consequences.link - archive.org - archive.today

and he will face no consequences.

He was dragged through the mud for years. Just because these jackasses don't like the jury verdict doesn't mean he "will face no consequences." The urge to fedpost is rising. I think I'm starting to glow. These people piss me off.

But DeSantis, a gun-rights supporter

That fucking framing. Supporting gun rights is great, even being neutral is fine. But the shitbags trying to circumvent the Bill of Rights should remove themselves from this country posthaste.

Their disgust for politicians who actually uphold some American values is fucking revolting, especially from the same side that cheers on the most blatantly unamerican tyrants who brag about misusing the law to get their way.

DeSantis is a freaking boss. I hope he slashes a ton more.

if you're a politician and you aren't staunch 2a, you're a traitor.

Agreed.

Looking at you Biden (and most other politicians.) Biden is just really blatant about it and, you know, the president...sorta.

"This will sound bizarre, but I support the Second Amendment," and "no amendment is absolute" should equal insta-impeachment...if we're being extremely generous.

At a public speaking engagement Friday, DeSantis said he doesn’t “support giving taxpayer dollars to professional sports stadiums, period.” But DeSantis, a gun-rights supporter who is pushing the state to allow residents to carry concealed firearms without a permit, also suggested that the Rays’ support of a gun-control organization also factored into his decision. “Companies are free to engage or not engage in whatever discourse they want, but clearly it’s inappropriate to be doing tax dollars for professional sports stadiums,” he said. “It’s also inappropriate to subsidize political activism of a private corporation. Either way, it’s not appropriate. But we were not in a situation where use of tax dollars for a professional stadium would have been a prudent use.”

He could've stopped at doesn't “support giving taxpayer dollars to professional sports stadiums, period.”

Even if a team is pro-life and pro-2A, taxpayers shouldn't have to subsidize their stadiums. Teams should do everything they can to draw revenue and they can start by not alienating their fanbase with bullshit politics.

The Rays are the St. Petersburg MLB (baseball) team. They've been leeching from our tax base since they arrived and built their shitty artificial Tropicana Field.

They never draw, even now when they're doing fairly well, because most of the doddering assholes in the area are Yankee fans, patronizing Steinbrenner Field in Tampa for Yankee spring training games more than they go to the Trop.

Anyway, DeSantis is right about tax $ for baseball teams. I mean, ffs, the amount of $ they bleed us for just to take in a game is ludicrous, and they have the gall to demand the state tit on top of it.

I won't rant about the state of pro baseball, the treatment of fans, and the idiotic practice of using smartphones for entrance instead of paper tickets. It's like everything MLB does shits on fans.

I've had it.
