I wouldn't say it was woke but it had some woke-adjacent sensibilities. I still really liked the show.
It had an implied same-sex relationship which is cannon in game lore. The main character of the first 3 episodes has cookie cutter dyke aesthetics. The idea of a battle-hardened muscle-bound horny black grandma is 100% woke wank material, same with the idea of a black or woman "engineering genius" but it isn't immersion breaking because of the fantasy setting.
What it does do to "subvert expectations" is an explicit denouncement of violent revolution of the "oppressed" as counterproductive. Also the women fail a bunch in a spectacular fashion, the men aren't all incompetent, and there is a positive portrayal of fatherhood.
I loved the show and even disregarding the plot entirely the art is mindblowingly gorgeous and you can tell the creators knew it because of how they lingered on the background shots or showed so many "movie poster" scenes.
Agree with the visuals being impressive, and it gave a bit of a Dishonored vibe too which I also quite liked in that game back in the day.
If you put all of what you wrote on a scale I would say it is pretty balanced, definitely a lot more, than most of the drivel we get these days.

Otherwise yeah, I liked it. They seemingly compartmentalized all of it somewhat efficiently from the main appeal of the show.
Noxian champions are representatives of the Noxian war machine - soldiers, generals and assassins. It would be dumb fanservice to have them in a show that is set neither in Noxus nor somewhere Noxus is currently conquering.

Arcane is a pretty "progressive" show with casual lesbianism, racial diversity, and stronk females. The difference between Arcane and other progressive shows, however, is that they play everything straight and give each character the respect they deserve. Every hero has faults to overcome, every villain has understandable motives, and nobody is perfect. Everyone is desperate to get what they want, but the script doesn't take anyone's side. Nothing comes across as preachy, and there will never be a point where the hero looks at the camera and proclaims trans rights. Combine that with solid animation and brilliant fight and action choreography, and I can safely put it on the shelf for woke shit I actually enjoyed, right next to Horizon: Zero Dawn.
They weren't playing it straight when the 100 lbs girl beat up the 250 lbs meathead street fighter who was on magic steroids. Using maybe 20 lbs of iron fist she looks like she could barely even lift.
It was so comical I totally checked out. Left the rest on as background noise.
Maybe it was explained the fists had like inertial gyros in there or something and I just missed it.
In the show only the surface people have hextech and the sewer people only have machines and steroids.
If they had a one-liner even that the gloves were magic I could get past it, except before that the 100 lbs girl was already beating up the 250 lbs streetfighter... the guy took steroids so she had to get the magic fists. Like okay maybe a skeleton-ninja could beat up some meathead like Schwarzenegger, but not a streetfighter. It was just totally unbelievable.

In the early scenes, they were gloves that belonged to Vander, a powerful freedom-fighter and essentially Vi's father figure. In the show, hextech didn't exist in their first encounter, so the gloves were essentially really heavy knuckledusters. Later in the show, after hextech is introduced, Vi scores a hextech gauntlet which turns her into the super fighter we know in the games.
Having done martial and weapon sports myself, I can tell you it doesn't take much with weapons to even the playing field against a stronger opponent. I've seen a normal-sized man KO armored fighters with a 1-foot club in ACL battles (armored combat league).
From early in the show, Vi is shown to be a seasoned fighter. A pair of heavy knuckledusters can definitely even the odds of a seasoned fighter against a larger and doped up opponent.
I think it was Jayce in his lab with all the Hextech stuff he'd created and someone(I think it was Vi, but might have been someone else) picks up the guantlets and he remarks about how he created those to help with mining. The whole thing is very clearly framed as "look at this sweet Hextech item we built with our magical Hextech".

I don't have much hope for the sequel, I just know that the original was fun enough for me to play it all the way through. The woke parts like the hyper diversity actually get explained when the plot twist is revealed, which I thought was neat.

I always had some tolerance for woke elements, and don't feel like I have been more accepting recently, than I have always been.

I try to explain to people like him that today's woke propaganda isn't for people who grew up on media in the 50s, 60s, 70s, or 80s. It's for the next generation, the generation after that, and so on and so forth.
