The bullet could have gone through the first person and kept traveling until it hit the person behind the first victim. It's possible, although this incident is sketchy as hell.

If it was a blank I'd have thought that unlikely.

Like sure they're deadly at point blank but the cotton wad you're firing does slow down a bit.

Well, there was that actor in the early 80s who offed himself by holding a gun with blanks to his head. I was in cadets at the time; we got a VERY long speech from our range officer about the dangers of blanks after that.

Oh yeah well a blank is basically a round with the bullet taken out and some light wadding (paper, cotton, etc) put in its place to stop all the powder leaking out. And the wadding gets fired.

In most cases it slows down to nothing pretty quickly or is burned up. But at point blank range, a piece of cotton travelling at 700m/s will still fuck you up before it stops.

At inches away from the muzzle the expanding gasses will fuck you up.

That too.

As a very general rule you really shouldn't ever test - at the kind of range you'd normally be shooting, a blank is probably safe. But at point blank you're fucked.

He is going to walk free and talk about how this experience traumatised him.

You forgot the part where he rails against firearms and goes "if this is what a prop gun can do, imagine what a real gun does to our neighborhoods and schools!"

Two people were shot. I think it's unlikely that doesn't, at the very least, involve some form of criminal negligence.

Negligence against the people that were shot? Seems fairly clear.

The set armorer and Baldwin himself. The armorer for not clearing the weapon, Baldwin for treating it like a toy and shooting two people.

Pretty crazy that this happened considering all the safety precautions in place to prevent this exact scenario.

If this was an accident, best I can figure is a shot where they're aiming at the camera. Occasionally the director will be close behind the camera person to see how the scene looks, like a spotter to a sniper.

As for multiple people hit, it could have been a scene where several shots are fired in quick succession. By the time you realize someone is bleeding for real, you've already fired the second shot. So maybe a squib, or a close range fatality with blanks.

To add to this: film sets are busy, complicated places. There is heavy equipment everywhere, hundreds of people working in various capacities, and the shooting set has as much attention on it as a shuttle launch.

With about 100+ people standing around working and a live action scene being shot with three different cameras running and lighting and equipment everywhere, a quick 5-second burst of fire could result in several nearly instantaneous injuries during a live filming. The actor would continue the scene, not knowing what occurred, and most of the crew would similarly be clueless as to what occurred until enough of a commotion was made that shut down filming.

That said, I have no idea why they're still using blanks at all in modern film during shooting. Couldn't they just put the muzzle flash in post?

The real question is why wasn't there a ballistics screen between the weapon and the crew?

Any competent set would never have a weapon fired that close to crew without the screen in place.

Because the old school filmmakers (and new ones wanting to emulate them) like to use blanks as they feel more authentic.

She's the photographer, he probably mistook her for paparazzi and instinctively opened fire. Can't blame him really.

Alec Baldwin should do ten years for manslaughter, at least. He will be untouched because he is a rich libtard. He's also a very good actor, don't forget. Actors act to get themselves out of trouble. Bet he already did that, you think?

Who knows what really happened?

He could have been having an affair with the deceased woman and they had a fight or she might have refused his advances and he lashed out?

Alec Baldwin has a documented history of a short temper and is a huge narcissist.

I just don't buy the official narrative of "it was just an freak accident, nothing to see here."

Or someone could have planted it to make it look like an accident or have Alec Baldwin be the fall guy. She could have unpaid gambling debts. Or it really could have been an accident. We don’t know what happened and without evidence assuming someone’s guilt in someone’s death wIthout any other evidence than Baldwin being a slimy asshole is kind of crazy place to start at..

These days mainstream media can't even admit duck is a duck, ex. Trannies are usually huge pervs that like to sexually assault and spy on women and kids but they don't want to admit that wanting to be tranny is a mental illness.

Yeah, I mean there may be some thing, like Alec had some secret hatred of the man for 10 years for some past slight, but maybe not best to jump to a conclusion on this one unless there is an actual reason [even if the guy is a bit of a dirtbag]. Sometimes accidents just happen.

Hey, if it turns out there was stuff like he was sleeping with his wife or something then maybe we'll talk....

Maybe the production person stumbled across some pedo activity in Baldwin's trailer and needed to be silenced. Alec Baldwin has the temperament that I find this scenario believable.

True. If this really was an accident, then I have a bit of sympathy for Baldwin. Even if I think he's a scumbag, I'd rather he be hoisted by his own petard than be party to a fatal accident.
