This is really just... A reminder, of something we should all already know: the media is not your friend, and it cannot be trusted, no matter the source, and no matter the time.
Even and including the so-called "conservative" media, or what you may consider at the time to be "based". Don't trust it. Don't trust Fox News. Don't trust Sky. Don't even trust The Spectator, or The Times (British one), or The Telegraph, or The NY Post. Sure, a broken clock may be right twice, but they cannot be trusted, and they will ALL play you for the mug they think you are, for as long as they can, for all that it is worth.
I know this is fairly obvious, but I guess I just wanted to reiterate it, because I found myself recently being lulled into a false sense of security, thinking that at least Sky and the Spectator have views I can mostly support, but then I... Watched and read a little bit more, and realised that a) Sky just says whatever the Government (in Australia, in this case) wants it to, and is very likely controlled opposition, and The Spectator is... Full of some truly whack opinions, that would be out of place in the very weirdest of posts on this forum...
I was also thinking about this because I have... Former friends, working in local journalism, and because I have studied media ethics. So I know a thing or two about it. The people I know? They're all brainwashed numpties, at this point, and not a single one of them would ever dare (anymore) say something "out of line", that might upset the moguls who effectively own them. They can't be trusted. I know that. And that is... A part of why, I have distanced them, and effectively... Said goodbye, to my friendships with a lot of them, some time ago...
So yeah, that's just a reminder, I guess. Turn off the news and build a garden (~ Lukas Nelson), or at least go outside. Learn some new skills. Live in the real world. If you really must get the news, try to either... Focus on the local, read a local, less biased, ideally independent paper, or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, find a blogger or Youtuber you like, and try to... Filter the bullshit through them. Personally, I like Sydney Watson, but then, she's not so much news as... Opinion on the clown world we now live in, with occasional crossover on the current events you might see covered, from a very opposing angle, on the mainstream news.
So yeah, that's just... My take. Be careful. Trust no one. And never, ever trust the shit that comes out of a journalist's mouth, unless you can verify it yourself in some way/crosscheck your sources.
Side note: While I recommend not trusting them as far as you can throw them, I will say that journalists do tend to at least be a good lay, so... Use 'em, tell 'em nothing, and then get out (without being "Me-Too'd", naturally), lol.
The media has been a known enemy for at least seven years now.
I started my journey of not trusting the media while listening to Rush Limbaugh share an anecdote from a long time ago when he was very overweight and also naïve about the media:
A reporter from a newspaper wanted to interview him over his radio show and his politics, and Rush agreed to it. In the time the two were together, they were often near a food stand or vending machine. The reporter would ask Rush if he wanted to get a snack or a soda, and Rush usually said yes. Afterwards when the reporter wrote up the article about Rush's show and politics, he also wrote about how Rush was such a fat pig that he stopped at every food stand and vending machine and stuffed himself with food.
I miss the days when weirdo old people would try to be relatable and say "I keep track of both opinions, I watch CNN and Breitbart..."
Like bitch, nobody my generation uses fuking Breitbart. If you don't read 4chan, you're not a centrist in my book.
Centrism is dead, there are only two sides in the great culture war.
Now if only we can fix the goddam infighting among our side...
What's a good alternative then?
What's wrong with Breitbart?
Extreme right wing so as redditors say but in reality it is RINO so they are not that trustworthy every now and then publishes articles that I agree with.
4chan is literally nothing but shills and has been for years now. Brietbart is better
"I bet you watch Faux News? lolol"
In the 1970's the CIA got caught red-handed infiltrating mainstream media. They admitted to placing agents within the most week known print and TV media outlets.
I'd wager maybe 5% of Americans alive today are aware of that fact.
Unfortunately, getting caught did little to slow down their longterm goal of achieving total control over public discourse.
The internet has thrown a wrench into their plans, but they're working overtime to gain full control of that as well.
CIA always seems to be at the head of the biggest anti-American movements. "War on Drugs" anyone? They were smuggling product out of Vietnam: https://www.sott.net/article/363656-Addicts-armies-and-agents-How-the-CIA-turned-Vietnam-and-Laos-into-a-lucrative-drug-trafficking-enterprise
They were instigating and reportedly funneling money to cartels and insurrectionists: https://humansarefree.com/2015/02/overwhelming-evidence-that-the-cia-is-smuggling-drugs-for-decades.html
(This article, however, attempts to dismiss some of the claims, but it links up with other reports that basically say much of the same thing) https://oig.justice.gov/sites/default/files/archive/special/9712/ch01p1.htm
This site gives a nice breakdown and timeline of the CIA's involvement with the "War on Drugs": https://isgp-studies.com/cia-heroin-and-cocaine-drug-trafficking
I got my first degree in Journalism and started working on the fringes of the industry (mainly research) when I got my degree and they are really stupid. I remember in my classes some people would ask really childish simple questions. The more public facing a job is the stupider the person is. A lot of them have a sense of smugness about how ~noble~ the job is. It's not. It's full of stupid people.
I went back to school and got a tech degree. Much smarter people there.
I think that's why Scientism has crept up in culture. Journalists are literally too stupid to read and understand scientific papers. It's all Greek to them, so scientists might as well be wizards issuing edicts on from high. They cannot understand that the little people may actually understand some of the literature if they tried studying it. No, it's too hard for you. Trust the experts. And since the journalists just "believe" the SCIENCE, it's easy for politicians to use them.
The students would ask the most childish shit in classes. I thought a few of them were legit retarded. Someone at my (non media) job found out I was on the local news radio and acted all impressed. I thought she was an idiot too.
By the end of the program I could churn out an A+ level story in minutes. It was literally fill in the blank. That's why I was so bored with the job after a couple years. I couldn't take it.
One of the biggest problems in the US is the stupidest professions (acting and news) are not just respected but admired and adored. They are all morons.
It's not just in the US. That applies in, to my knowledge, the entire Anglosphere... Perhaps less so Canada and NZ, but still.
But to dive deeper, re your last sentence, I hate to get all conspiratorial, but I suspect that is no accident. It's like how much of TV now is all "reality" crap. The powers that be, whoever they may be, WANT us to aspire to those stupid professions. They WANT us to admire that, and to think "Man, I wish I was like them". Much like the Olympics, it is the perfect distraction, and that is why the media wastes so much time hyping their bullshit. It is by design. Because people in those professions are, by and large, easily manipulated idiots, that is what we are all "supposed" to ascribe to. "Be like them. Be rich. Be InfluentialTM."
When you begin to see/realise that, that's when it all... Falls into place, you might say, lol...
Everything is a distraction. All this racist CRT, oppression pyramid bullshit, it's all a distraction from the rich (mostly Jews) not just stealing but fucking gutting entire families, of using tech against us that would be illegal if our politicians weren't whores.
Television and movies are no long entertaining, they're pure propaganda and the news is a way to get our attention away from the real issues.
Everything they talk about is either meant to distract you or demoralize you. Both sides, niggers and whites. They used to experiment on niggers and then just locked them up until they found a better purpose for them- use them as a threat and a distraction from what they're really doing.
Every single thing in the media is a distraction. The only reason they talked about Epstein at all was the story was too big and giving it a few days then ignoring it gave most of the idiots watching the belief that it was actually a small issue.
There have been some massive, history changing events take place in the last few years that have either been ignored or only talked about minimally. Epstein, Weinstein, Assange, the 2020 election scandal
But let's talk about Britney Spears fifteen years past her due date. Let's keep talking about Trump even though he's out of office. It's a fucking comedy show.
It's a symptom of a low IQ society. This is explained in The Bell Curve. And Idiocracy.
Drink Brawndo. It's got electrolytes.
I’d like to remind everyone of the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect.
It's not that they're not your friend/not to be trusted. They are an active enemy, attacking you every day.
For the wise there are four stages we all go through as far as the media goes:
Stage 1: Believe the media's job is to inform the public (why would they lie? that's absurd, it is their job to inform the public)
Stage 2: Believe the media has to make money, so it bends or exxagerrates the truth for money "it bleeds it leads"
Stage 3: Believe most media actually is to serve power; all except of course of the trusted media that is in opposition to these phonies (pfft, bunch of retards watching CNN. Time to see what Hannity on Fox News says instead.)
Stage 4: Realize that the opposition media is merely controlled opposition and that all media serves power and/ or themselves only
When it comes to learning the news, my process is as follows:
A. See headline from large news organization.
B. Research said headline through multiple independent content creators.
I just partake of any and all media with the expectation of bias. That would even apply to media that aligns with my own positions exactly, as I need to be cognizant of that and know that I might just be hearing what I want to hear
I've been bringing up perspective in conversation with people for many years now, but I still don't think most get it. Most things that aren't inherently quantifiable are subject to scrutiny from a different perspective. Hell, now a days it's more like even quantifiable things are.
Good reminder. I pretty much expect some sort of bias with anything I see or read.
We have stormfags agitating for another Holocaust, we have me hoping for feminists to get a Nuremberg Trial of their own, we have Great Reset believers...what could possibly be there that's out of place here?
Also, I tried to think of anyone off the top of my head who I hate as much as you apparently do women, but I honestly can't think of any specific groups, so that's impressive...
I've had a pretty rough life, and I've seen some seriously dark shit go down, but the closest I got was like... Enbees? I fucking hate enbees. And Xe/xirs in general. Though that is less down to personal experience, and more due to the fact that I literally cannot fathom how people that r-slurred can continue to exist in mainstream society, but there you go...
Haha maybe it's just the Australian edition, but, the climate change denialism and anti-Aboriginal rhetoric on there is actually of a level I havent yet seen on here, lol... Not that I necessarily disagree with it. It's just fairly loopy, at times, to say the least...
Also a pretty hefty dose of historical revisionism... Which is fine. History is written by the victors, after all. But seriously dude, you should see some of their editorials. They're write up there with our crazy "perpetual energy of motion" friends, lol...
Not so many stormfags though, which is kind of... Well it's unsurprising, given that they're literally the world's oldest surviving periodical, lol... I don't think they would have made it all this way if they blamed "teh jooz" for everything, lol...
Oh also, there's a guy on Sky News who reckons we should demolish the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Because it's old, and needs constant repainting. He was also a politician once, so that's... Fun.
So yeah, we don't have a monopoly ln those things, lol. Though I must say, I haven't seen views like yours espoused literally anywhere in the mainstream media... So keep at it. It's good for a chuckle, if nothing else! I do love me a good blackpill or two.
overall I'd suggest watch allsides.com as news site, or more centric type like reuters(aka ones that dont add opinions, etc, but focus on reporting what happened) and if topic is political even little way, search topic outside of media if it interest you even little
