I left Chicago years ago but the massive increase in hobo camps was a major reason. A majority of the population has a Disney-esq viewpoint that they’re just tired people down on their luck. Their “street beggar” act is just a character they play. When they’re in their camps it’s far different.
The reality is they are hardcore drug addicts who get in fights multiple times per week, introduce drug dealers to your area who cause their own violence, and they pimp out their women to fuel their drug binges.
They are lawless vagabonds with nothing to lose and a huge danger to society. I don’t feel anything for this woman bc she’s created a cartoon version of the homeless in her mind and she went out of her way to find her cute pets. To anyone with experience this is exactly the expected outcome.

People work and pay taxes to pay for sidewalks and parks that they can't use. And it isn't a failure of shelters, the encampment homeless won't go to shelters because you can't do meth in a shelter. The left will say, "oh they don't go to shelters because they aren't safe" which anyone with a working brain will realize a shelter will always be safer than a meth fueled Hooverville.
