I read this as saying that it wasn't Steam's decision, but that's actually not clear. Does anyone know more about that?
I know that some Valve multiplayer games like TF2 are getting bombed by bots right now (and have been all year) and have speculated about who could be behind simultaneously running thousands of instances of bots for months, that have paid accounts running them (as in they have microtransactions in the game) and wondered if it's a state actor, because that's a lot for a small group of people to do just for trolling. I suspect China is pissed at Valve because they have no investors (unlike Epic, Riot, Blizzard, etc., that are part-owned by China and given in to them) and generally have never buckled to pressure, yet remain a top company, valued at billions.
The developer removed it from steam after getting review bombed and never re submitted it. That one is not on valve

Chinese flooded them with their botnet and whined about it. At least that's what I expect "many messages from gamers" is. Sucks, as on the rare occasion I picked up a PC game that's about the only place I got it.
Being stuck with nothing but a bunch of evils. I'll just keep with my policy of waiting out for the 80+% off sale. I've gotten to the point that $10 is my target price on most games with some going as high as $20 if I really think I'll like it. Funny enough, I often end up enjoying something I got for $2-3 dollars more than $20 anyway.
Extra bonus, I found a bunch of CDs over the weekend too from when I was in high school me and a couple friends basically had a game copy party. Lot of Dosbox and SCUMM stuff that will be super easy to get running and I love old games. Crazy I'd been hanging on to this stuff for close to 20 years and a lot of it I've never played.
Or it's just a lie. Why should any message from a gamer stop them releasing a game. Just don't buy it.

IIRC that was a licensing issue. The old license expired because of the rerelease or something like that. GOG gave the old version away in the last few days I think. Or maybe that was another franchise.
The original version is still available to download if you have the EE version I believe.
I'm pretty sure the original versions come with the EEs, you just can't purchase the original on its own any longer, but I think that's more on Beamdog than on GOG. Besides, I'm still running off of the installers they gave me back before Beamdog's versions were a thing. Because you know, installation media that I can use after all their servers are dead and gone is pretty fucking nice to have.
There is literally no good case why not listing something entirely is a valid defensible option.
