I think a lot of SJWs are just starting to realize that this is a losing issue for them and so you're starting to see some soft backpedaling in order to test the waters and appear more centrist and reasonable than they really are. After all, the right has 2 main advantages right now, immigration and trans ideology. If they backpedal on these 2 issues than the normies WILL come back, despite what people on this site will tell you. Especially since the right, as of right now, is like a shih tzu: capable of barking really loudly and for prolonged periods of time, but are ultimately small, weak, and wont put up much (if any) fight.
Lol I did not expect to read about SDAs here. Sorry that caused you so much turmoil. The Matthew 24:21 prophecy is not supposed to put people in a state of fear and yet it often does.
The main problem is that SDAs are literally an end-of-the-world cult, growing up I probably spent more time listening to the preachers talk about Revelations than every other book combined. We were constantly being barraged with the end times and how it's definitely going to happen any day now. They went into vivid details about the horrors we would allegedly suffer (not exactly something you should be teaching a 9 year old). SDAs also shun non-SDAs (including other Christians) calling them "worldly" and I was literally taught I can associate with "worldly" people but I could never be actual friends with them. And while they'll never admit it they actually care more about the unhinged writings of Ellen G. White than they do the actual Bible.
Sorry for this rant, I try to caution people away from the SDA church as much as I can so I get kinda heated on this topic.
When I was young my parents got divorced, my mom moved us around a lot (and I mean a LOT, we were practically nomads for a few years), I would spend my summers with dad who also moved around a bit (not as much but still more than I would have liked) because of his job, because I'm introverted by nature it always took my a while to make friends when I would go to a new school so by the time I just made friends we were on our way to our next home, add on to that the changes that happen to everyone growing up, and constantly being told day after day that the world was going to end any day now and that when it did we (because we were good Seventh Day Adventists) would be subjected to torture and torment greater than anyone has ever felt before. My life was in a constant state of flux and I lived in a constant state of dread for many years. But through all of that Star Wars was a constant. I knew, wherever or however often I moved, I could always put on a SW movie or play a SW game and I could just lose myself in the galaxy far, far away and forget about everything for a few hours. Star Wars helped get me through some difficult years. So even though I'm in a much better (and more stable) place now SW will always be important to me. That's why I'm so annoyed at Disney for ruining it, and why no matter what they do they can never take away what it used to be.
Forgiveness is not for the one being forgiven, it's for the one doing the forgiving. Forgiving someone is basically saying "I'm done hating you". It doesn't mean that you don't want them to face justice. When you feel like it's right to let go of your negative feelings is up to you. I'm an atheist so I'm not going to try to back any of this up with any religious writings or preachings nor am I going to comment on whether this man should forgive his son's killer or not, all I'll say is forgive when you feel it's best to do so, not for them but for yourself. And if you never feel like forgiving them then I feel sorry for you, holding that much hatred and anger, whether justified or not, is a painful way to live. And when you allow yourself to start healing is up to you.
I can't tell you how many people, including members of my own family, who I've pissed off by saying that women should be no where near the military (or police and firefighters for that matter). War is the province of men, and those who challenge that will be the first to find out.
You obviously lack reading comprehension as my original comment was clearly conveying (as my next comment elucidated) the FACT that people will abuse other's religious beliefs for their own person gain to which I gave 2 very real and very lethal examples. And the memes point (which I was criticizing) was "how dare they say that religious leaders can be evil and self-serving!". And I don't need an "out", you responded to my comment saying "NOT ALL RELIGIOUS PEOPLE!!!!" and my second comment pointed out the irony (or rather hypocrisy) that when it comes to religion this site screams "NOT ALL RELIGIOUS PEOPLE!!!" but when it comes to race and nationality they're perfectly willing to paint with a more broad brush. The idea that that is, in some way, a prepared "out" when it was a deliberate reply to your specific comment shows that you lack logical thinking.
Did I say that all (or even the majority) of religious people were power hungry tyrants? No. I stated a fact that power hungry people, sociopaths, and even psychopaths will use religion to gain money, power, and influence. I swear, this site is all "religion = 100% good!" and when you criticize that they jump down your throat with "NOT ALL RELIGIOUS PEOPLE!!!!!" completely ignoring the irony of that statement with this sites hatred of muslims, jews, blacks, and indians.
You mean to tell me that people would ACTUALLY enter into a religious organization, rise through the ranks, make it to the top, purely so they gain wealth and power and dictate people's lives through their religious beliefs? No one would ever do that in the real world. I mean, you'd never hear any real life story of a religious leader convincing all his followers to kill themselves, or a religious leader convincing his followers to go on a murderous rampage for 1400 years. (Obvious sarcasm)
It's alright, I found a solution to your problem
You didn't say anything about "colonizing" the moon in your first comment, you said we lost the ability to send people to the moon, that was what I was criticizing. We still have the ABILITY to send people to the moon, we just lack REASON to do so. As for colonizing mars, yes we are a long time away from that, step one is: get people to mars for a short visit.
I doubt you'd be getting this pissy if a guy in his 20s said "I'm hanging out with the boys" referencing his friend group.
