I can't tell you how many people, including members of my own family, who I've pissed off by saying that women should be no where near the military (or police and firefighters for that matter). War is the province of men, and those who challenge that will be the first to find out.
My city was one of the first to have female firefighters. They had to pass the exact same tests as the men & do the exact same job. No worries.
Dropping standards? A big no. Nay, never.
I remember long ago the entire firefighter force of a big US city (San Fran?) said they'd quit because the Mayor (or governor?) announced one day that 10% of all firefighters being female was their goal. Of course it still happened eventually, just in underhanded, treacherous ways.
