The reason we don't have enough of "certain talents" here is BECAUSE of the H-1B visas, turns out companies would rather hire cheap foreign labor over expensive domestic labor, and turns out when they ONLY hire cheap foreign labor people domestically stop studying and learning that particular field since there is no future in it for THEM.
Not to mention food made yourself just outright tastes better. For example: I stopped buying butter a while ago, the only ingredient you need to make your own is heavy cream and with a food processor or a stand mixer it takes about 5-10 minutes where you just let the machine do the work for you; it's fast, it's easy, and it's completely worth the effort, I never realized how flavorful butter actually was until the first time I tried it, the stuff you get at the grocery store is just so bland.
This isn't just a smear, saying that government employees should get payed during a shutdown is NOT mutually exclusive with saying that congressional politicians shouldn't. THEY are the ones causing the shutdown so THEY shouldn't get paid until it's over, but that doesn't mean we can't pay the soldiers and air traffic guys. The ONLY reason to object to that notion is that he wants to keep getting HIS paycheck.
