Jesus came to fulfill the word of God. The killings in the old testament occurred within the old covenant. One doesn't judge post-Christ perfect morality with examples of the old ways. As an additional example, He said divorce had been allowed to the Hebrews because they were "hard of heart", while the Catholic Church doesn't recognize divorce today.
That was a warning of the sufferings of eternal darnation, not an endorsement of capital punishment. He was saying that the punishments of hell are so awful that the experience of being killed is preferable.
The one time Jesus did speak in regards to a death penalty, he said "those without sin cast the first stone."
To be a a true Christian is to forgive your enemies as they crucify you. Christ is the pattern we're meant to emulate. A Christian is rejected by the worldly from all sides. The left will hate him for believing in good and evil; the right will hate him for not being political or angry enough to satisfy.
Remember the jews wanted a political leader to overthrow the romans, but Jesus was divinely meek.
That's not right, because it implies energy is ultimately the only thing that has value, but there's also land, craftmanship and others. Making money solely about energy is like making money about gold: it's a step back in the abstraction of value that money is.
Politics will never be fixed. It has been a struggle in every generation, and every generation considered it just as crucial as this one.
The world will always be burning and you can't improve things without helping yourself first. If you're coming at it with bitterness, you'll only make things worse. Focus on your soul and psychological perfection first.
The enrichment angle was always an excuse more than a proper argument as far as I ever saw it. An insignificant factor that made no difference.
It was the economic side that made anyone take the position seriously, at least in my experience. The asylum angle also made some waves.
Arab cuisine is not "fine" cuisine in the sense that French cuisine is. It's more like try ethnic cuisine and that's it.
That sounds completely arbitrary. An Arab might say the opposite with arguably equal validity.
Also it kind of all tastes the same?
That was not my experience.
Except that makes no sense, how does having more burdens on society help? How is the ones that work and send money home benefit local economy?
The idea is that they pay the pensions for the old Europeans.
My other argument is, the birthrate is down but immigration is millions upon millions way more then any birthrate adjustment.
That's fair, but you don't need to argue about it. I'm not debating against you.
You are correct and very fair in your nuanced view. The larger problem is that you've posted in an echo chamber of bitterness. This site has devolved into mere constant masturbation of anger. Most people who care beyond that are long gone.
Kirk, and Christianity in general, have not won politically or socially in decades.
Christianity is not a political or social movement. It's a religion. Its goal is to save souls.
So what 'good' is the forgiveness doing except enabling our own demise?
It saves our souls from hate and it serves as an example to those whose hearts are open to a better way of life.
my mom, who is very devoutly Catholic, has been calling me to go to confession and confess my sins. This is really driving me up the wall because I, a mostly innocent man, have to be a guilt ridden wretch
It's about love, not guilt. You don't write like someone who loves God. This is the main problem with you. You also care too much about politics: you should be beyond them.
Christianity to me is so repulsively cucked that I can't in good conscience consider myself a Christian. I don't know what I can replace it with, but almost anything is better at this point. Prove me wrong.

I haven't claimed that he said no kill is ever justified. Read this comment thread again.
