I had an aunt in local politics. She was a councillor for the township and did a lot for the community. People regularly showed up at her door at all hours asking for money, petitioning for one thing or another, and she gave a lot of herself to her community. She also spearheaded a few projects that ultimately improved the lives of children in our community, such as new recreation spaces and club programs. She never broadcasted any of this. She just did it because it was the right thing to do for her community.

Then election season came one year, and someone who was considered a dear friend (to put it in perspective, my aunt paid off this woman's debts and would regularly give her groceries and the like) stabbed her in the back and spread lies about my aunt. Telling anyone who would listen how she was only out for herself and that she had done nothing with her three terms serving on the council. My aunt didn't get a fourth term.

I'm sure there are hundreds, if not thousands of stories like my aunt's. As distasteful as we might find it, if you want to do good and continue to do good in politics, then you need to broadcast the good you do.

Wait on III because they're having a hard time sorting out the clusterfuck of Hitman III becoming an EGS exclusive. Many, many people are having issues with redeeming their one-time use tokens to link their Steam Hitman data with the EGS copy. If I were you, I'd wait until next January when Hitman III will be released on Steam and GOG. Unless you already have Hitman and Hitman 2 on EGS, then go for it.

1. Get rid of capeshit and open comics up to multiple genres, like back before the CCA. The quality of storytelling and art will improve when creators who don't want to soil their reputation with capeshit see that they can make good work that will be taken seriously as literature.

2. Try to get comics back into grocery stores, convenience stores, local places. Comics have become so niche that the only way to really get them is by going direct market. You're never going to get anyone aside from the enthusiast audience that way, and you want more than emotionally stunted, middle-aged men to read your work. Or at least I do.

3. Social Media Influencers. You may hate the idea, but as a marketing tool, they work.

It would take a lot of work and probably decades of good stories and sound business management to resurrect not only the medium of comic books, but its reputation and cultural cache as well. While I think Hashbrown Comics Gate is kinda silly, I will say that I'm far more interested in what that crowd is putting out than anything Marvel, DC, or Image have put out in at least a decade. At this point, I'm wondering when the indies will figure out that they can make their own labels and get the cultural ball rolling on the resurrection of comics.

I finished Yakuza: Like a Dragon the other week. It was really good, and I loathe JRPGs. LAD is still a JRPG so it had many things that annoyed me (like having to grind for levels, slow combat, etc), but the Yakuza-ness made up for it. Don't know if I would play another Yakuza JRPG, but I really enjoyed it.

Now I've got nothing to play until the Yakuza Collection drops on the 28th. :(
