It is unfortunate that Zelensky actually believes that Bakhmut must be held as it is not true,

Honestly, the more I have looked into it, the more and more it is looking like a redo of Verdun, with both the good and bad of that connotation. It has become a national symbol of defiance that the national government refuses to surrender, and has managed to hold against all odds despite being surrounded on multiple sides. But that holding has resulted in losses that were more severe then they should have been, and the truth is they only held because the attacker too even heavier losses and ran out of steam before they could deliver the coup de grace.

Unfortunately, we actually have to go the Theodore Roosevelt route and give the speech anyway.

Is this before or after we mock them for their lame-ass attempt at killing us?

It’s old myths that date back to Columbine. At first, it got out that they were loners who had no friends and were supposedly mistreated, and so that is what has been run with with these shooters.

What came out after the fact (but far later than the news cycle), was that far from being victims, the shooters were the bullies. And them shooting up the school was their ultimate and most permanent act of bullying.

Which is exactly why it’s usually the spoiled rotten kids becoming shooters in these instances.

Though on that Badger already has an in if this becomes a possibility. Since Heavenly is a vtuber too (with a really cool model I must say)

Wait what? This is news to me. looks it up I agree. Definitely a cool model.

Oh yeah. I would imagine Cover would keep their “no politics” policy as a site thing if they ever did this. And that would even still allow for some latitude, like how Mori has picked fights (or at least, acknowledged them) with the usual suspects on Twitter and telling them to piss off.

I could see someone like Pippa struggling with that more, but honestly? I think a space that is just about entertainment would be useful and even helpful. And besides: the SJWs are so far off the reservation compared to normal people, that just being “neutral” puts a lot of people nearer to us than them (like Russian Badger and his friends doing politically incorrect jokes and talking about the guns they own, while insisting none of that is political).

And if they open it up to Indie Vtubers, it could help grow the platform that much more, as well as keep everyone on the up since it would keep competition tight (which would mean better content overall).

Certainly something to keep an ear to the ground over.

And if they open it up to all gamers, not just Vtubers? Damn, they have been looking for a YouTube alternative for years.

TheModernDaVinci 12 points ago +12 / -0

It can not be underestimated just how many people that would bring if they ended up doing that. That is easily millions of fans per Vtuber, which probably means tens of millions since there are plenty of people who only sub to one or two (which means a lot of unique subscriptions).

It's at least nice enough I can walk around and feel [relatively] safe. At least around Deep Ellum (which is where the concert was). As opposed to the time I went to Denver and regretted it the entire time because the streets were packed with tweeked out homeless people.

TheModernDaVinci 3 points ago +3 / -0

I was actually just down in Dallas recently for a concert, so I know exactly what you are talking about. Hell, even the band was getting in on it, despite not even being American ("Our friends told us you Americans are wild. They were right, and we love you for that!").

At the same time, I do question that one. Because at least where I live, people are still largely patriotic, people still fly the flag, and people still say they love the country. Certainly not as low as 38%. Makes me wonder if it is so cratered in Left-Wing areas it drags down the average to an absurd degree.

2
TheModernDaVinci 2 points ago +2 / -0

I suppose. I have obviously never considered anything like that, and it would largely be useless to me as a side effect of my autism is that I have an absurdly high pain tolerance (for example, I went 10 years without knowing I had a broken foot). However, I will tend to bite things when I get stressed or am anxious, and that can include biting my fingers until they bleed.

I will admit to knowing nothing about cutting, but from what little I do know, aren’t they too high up the arm? Almost every time I have ever heard of people cutting, it is their wrist, since there is a high chance of hitting a vein.

They also ran off Fritz Haber, one of the most renowned and genius tier chemist in history, and the man largely responsible for Germany doing as good as it did in WW1 by inventing chemical weapons and synthetic versions of many supplies they lost to the British blockade (on top of his previous inventions in fertilizer).

Turns out, when you run off your best and brightest by persecuting them for obtuse reasons, then make enemies of everyone around you, you will eventually lose as everyone joins team “Fuck that guy”.

But enough about the Russians and the Chinese.

And any AI restrained enough will be so lobotomized as to be useless for their purposes.

Are we also just going to ignore the fact that this is clearly done as a "Suck it DeSantis" move, but it will directly bring millions of dollars into the Florida economy?

TheModernDaVinci 1 point ago +1 / -0

That is starting to go away though, since TSMC is teaming up with some US companies to build new factories in the US itself (in Arizona, Ohio, and Texas).

TheModernDaVinci 5 points ago +5 / -0

There is also something to be said for the fact that Taiwan has openly said they will take a "If I cant have it, no one can" attitude to their chip factories. And China doesnt have the tech know-how to run those factories even if they managed to capture them intact.

Either way, I dont really fear China going after Taiwan. Because when they ran a wargame recently on the subject (which are designed from the ground up to favor REDFOR and hamper BLUEFOR, even if it means ignoring actual, real life physics), and it saw REDFOR get their ass spanked, which isnt how that is supposed to work. So I can only imagine how much worse it would actually be for them.

There were times that the Navy leadership flat out lied to the top military staff because they did not want to accept various reports from their commanders in the actual battles.

Then there is the famous example of how they thought they sank USS Enterprise like 4 different times. And they went into Midway convinced the US was down a carrier because Yorktown had been "destroyed" (it received the fast repair job in Navy history).

And of course, there is the even more infamous fact about the Japanese Navy and Japanese Army being just as much at war with each other as they were with the Americans. To the point that in many cases they would deliberately sabotage each other because they would rather have the Americans win if it meant their rival lost.

looks at Putin withholding Ammo from Wagner

Yeah....

Which is why I think people are reading too much into stuff. It has already been confirmed Nintendo crushed some of the attempts to make some stuff woke in the movie.

My first ever rig was Intel/Nvidea. I have already jumped ship to AMD for the CPU and have been better than Intel. So now I am about to go whole hog on the AMD with a new GPU here in another month or so (I will be getting the first half of my sign-on bonus for the new job).

Probably for the best, since from what I have seen AMD has been rather supportive of gamers and has done better at being a good company than Intel or Nvidea.

4
TheModernDaVinci 4 points ago +4 / -0

That Nvidea sounds cool. Unfortunately, this coming upgrade I am doing here in the near future, I am going with AMD. Since their current cards are competitive while being significantly cheaper.

Although, I guess we can take all of what Nvidea is doing as a sign that they can see AMD nipping at their heels, and they need to respond.

A lot of people did, because it was the Californians coming that made places like Colorado move more Blue. But from what I have seen of the recent data, apparently the Left-Wing Californians are either staying there, or if they are leaving they are going to other left-wing hubs like Portland or Seattle.

Same applies with the New York Expats, where the Left-Wing ones are going to places like Massachusetts or Vermont while the Right-Wingers are going to the Carolina's or Florida.

TheModernDaVinci 9 points ago +9 / -0

From what I have seen of this sort of stuff like cost of living, job availability, "quality of life", etc. Some have also pointed to the fact that there is data showing a lot of the new arrivals are in some cases more conservative than the locals (I know Florida and Texas found that data), so they say something like "Looks like we are just getting rid of all the Right Wing racist trash. Sounds like a good thing to me!"

Meanwhile, their states continue to die, and they just refuse to do anything because they dont think anything is wrong. Of course, this will result in a shift of political power away from them, so its all good in the end.

2
TheModernDaVinci 2 points ago +2 / -0

You don't know that. Just because old people are more likely to own homes now doesn't mean under-65 are not.

I think like many a stat, its going to depend wildly on where in the country you are. Like the stats I always see about how "no one is having children, getting married, etc" for all of the life events. Yet where I live out on the Great Plains, there are tons of children in my town (and yes, they were white. Since that is usually what people complain about), people are getting and staying married, people are getting good jobs, etc.

Also, on the note of the OP image: You can do all of that stuff on one income still like your grandparents did. You just have to have only one car, have a house about half the size of the average modern home (and of course, your children bunk it up instead of getting individual rooms), you cant have internet, you cant have a phone, you cant have anything more than basic cable for a TV, etc. The list goes on, but I think you get the hint. People complain about how a 1950's income doesnt work anymore, while wanting a 2020's lifestyle on a 1950's income.

TheModernDaVinci 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, those are what I was referring to.

Fun fact: the practice still has influence in Modern Japan, and it is why every anime where there are girls in high school almost always has them practicing Kendo or archery (since they were the skills an Onna-Bugiesha was expected to know).
