From what I have seen of this sort of stuff like cost of living, job availability, "quality of life", etc. Some have also pointed to the fact that there is data showing a lot of the new arrivals are in some cases more conservative than the locals (I know Florida and Texas found that data), so they say something like "Looks like we are just getting rid of all the Right Wing racist trash. Sounds like a good thing to me!"
Meanwhile, their states continue to die, and they just refuse to do anything because they dont think anything is wrong. Of course, this will result in a shift of political power away from them, so its all good in the end.
Here in Texas I used to hate seeing Californians arrive but then I saw the data showing most are coming because the are more conservative so I shut up about that lol
A lot of people did, because it was the Californians coming that made places like Colorado move more Blue. But from what I have seen of the recent data, apparently the Left-Wing Californians are either staying there, or if they are leaving they are going to other left-wing hubs like Portland or Seattle.
Same applies with the New York Expats, where the Left-Wing ones are going to places like Massachusetts or Vermont while the Right-Wingers are going to the Carolina's or Florida.
It’s still funny the left wing ones don’t want to stay in their blue paradise
Hope it works out for you.
Sincerely, Washington (it did not work out for us).
I heard Washington was once staunchly conservative. Is it a state that is held hostage by Seattle? Is the rest of the state red?
Washington has a Tech problem in that we got a lot of economic migrants from the Bay Area and Silicon Valley. Seattle has been shitlib as long as I remember, but that was like injecting shitlib directly into a vein.
That's why when I see Texas try to grow its own tech scene and recruit people/companies from the Bay Area and Silicon Valley, I get very worried for you guys.
It's also a permanent vote by mail state and so ripe for electoral shenanigans of the sort we saw in 2020. The state has a website where if you type in a person's name, DOB, and maybe one or two other pieces of info, you can fill out their ballot online, print it, sign/date it, and drop it off. And if you do that it invalidates the normal ballot they get in the mail.
It should have resulted in a shift of political power. Instead, the most recent census simply overcounted blue states, generating five extra seats for democrats, and this “error” won’t be fixed until 2030.
On top of that, in the states that did lose seats, the Dem legislatures just removed a Republican district so it didn’t really move the needle.
I think they would also argue that COVID-induced spikes in remote work jobs allows the laptop class to move to lower COL areas wherever they please.
