Orlando Sentinel crows about the Disney cloak and dagger winning for the moment.

This isnt going to end the way they hope it does. Lets ignore their cope about how Disney totally didnt lose out by having Reedy Creek taken away from them (because the lawyers who actually know what they are talking about have already said they are getting fucked by that). Their little stunt where they tried to give themselves powers will be squashed by the courts pretty much as soon as Florida files the paperwork. Because Disney effectively made themselves have the powers of an HOA on crack. And if they are allowed to get away with that, then the thousands of other special districts in the state will demand to become HOA's on crack.

This is not a fight Disney can win. Because despite what the Pixie Dusters and and Bob Iger seem to believe: Florida holds all the cards, and Disney needs Florida a lot more than Florida needs Disney (especially with recent growth).

I imagine investors are, too.

They are. And if the recent Disney Shareholder's meeting is anything to go by, they are becoming resentful of that fact. Since while most people are talking about the ones who just laid into Iger for going political, less talked about where a few going "So, about Disney+ profitability..."

Eh, its not the first time that has happened. So I am a bit more willing to look the other way on that one.

Go see the movie, shows, and games you like and be happy.

This is the stance I have come around to as well. I dont really go out of my way to try and decide if something is "woke" or "based". If something catches my eye, I will take part in it. And both sides can fuck off.

Of course, that still usually means avoiding your typical Hollywood bullshit since they couldnt write an interesting story to save their lives.

I didn't mind her character at all

Seconded. When you actually watch her fight, most of what she does is by being faster than everyone else instead of just overpowering them. And just to show that she isnt some extremely strong person, there is that guy that it takes her a good several minutes and dozens of stabs to kill. And in the same time, John has already killed dozens.

If I could reconcile these factors, I could consider him a decent character.

The way I took it, was that since he is more or less working semi-officially for The Marque, that the High Table just kind of wrote it all off as "Marque is the one putting his neck on the line with this strange assassin." I do foresee him being more prominent in the inevitable John Wick 5 they have already confirmed they are working on.

THE FUCKING BULLETPROOF BUSINESS SUITS.

It is probably the only thing I actually disliked in the whole movie. I was fine with them in the last few movies where it was shown to provide limited protection, but it still came down to skill and not getting hit to actually avoid damage.

Now the damn things can be used as actual shields, they can apparently stand up to extremely high caliber damage like shotguns fired from short range, and apparently even let you survive falling from buildings or getting hit by cars.

Damn, I hate it.

Still, overall I enjoyed the movie and would recommend to anyone who has enjoyed the series thus far.

It’s worse than that. You have plenty of examples where they will take characters who are explicitly stated to be over 18 and who have large breast and say they are “loli” because they look youthful and/or are short.

I would say yes. They did a big update that allows you to buy specific weapons and then reforge with specific upgrades so that your game is much less reliant on praising RNGesus. It can still get pretty grindy to get the gear you would need for a higher level mission though.

EDIT: Outside of those issues, I always thought the gameplay itself was pretty solid, and the interactions between the different types of characters were always fun.

I will say Anno is more of an economy sim rather than a true city builder. Almost all of the challenge of the game revolves around creating efficient supply lines and trade routes, and the city you build essentially only exist to provide workers and buy your goods. And like I said, once you get to the higher rank of workers (Artisans, Engineers, Investors), then you need imported goods from the "New World" to fully fulfill your needs. Which involves setting up islands with what are for all intents and purposes Hispanics working on them.

I will say that the campaign has some stuff to imply that they believe that the people in the New World are more "at peace" with nature. But the game depicts colonization as a symbiotic relationship, and it suffers from the usual attempts by the Left of making the "Old World" look bad, but then having them live better lives with more prosperous cities.

My rotation at the moment is as follows:

Victoria 3: Currently trying to do an "Asian Empire" playthrough with as Vietnam, since Vietnam has easy access to almost every important resource (about the only thing it is missing is sulfur). It is quite entertaining to dunk on other Asian nations with a Napoleonic army when they are are still fighting with Peasant Levies.

Company of Heroes 3: It sounds like the mutliplayer is busted, but the single player has been fairly interesting. Also, one of the campaigns is you playing as the Germans (Africa Corp specifically), which is a rather unusual thing the game did in this day and age.

Forza Horizon 5: I had been in the mood for some old school semi-realistic racing, so this fit the bill. Not much else to really say about it.

Cities: Skylines: Doing one last build before the sequel comes out later this year/early next year, which looks to be improving on a lot of things. At least that is the hope. For the current build, I basically just want to build the biggest city I possibly can with the fewest issues.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide: Me and my friends have been getting back into this now that some of the issues with it have been resolved. I personally thought it played well enough before, but the changes to make it so you are not as reliant on RNG for your builds was extremely helpful.

The Great War: Western Front: A WW1 real-time strategy game? It works better than you think. Obviously, you are typically going to get absolutely dumpstered on offense, but will absolutely body people on defense much like in the real war. It also has a novel way of making you actually fight like a WW1 general, where the frontline only moves in a way that makes it difficult to do, and you sometimes just launch attacks to disrupt the enemy instead of trying to take ground.

Greedfall.

See, I played it, and while I agree with the "resounding meh" critique, I actually still enjoyed it enough. I also didnt really have an issue with the multicultural-ness of the factions. Its set in a fictional world, and the factions and races follow their own internal logic as set by the game.

If you want a game that focuses more on colonizer's though, and are into more "city-builder" types, Anno 1800 requires you to colonize to get to certain later stages of building. It starts with you needing Cotton for making Fine Clothing (combined with fur), as well as Sugar to make Rum. Victoria 3 is also not just a Colonizers dream, but an Imperialist dream since you can expand though invasions and firepower.

Initial charges dropped, possible charges pending.

I mean, I know I am not a lawyer. But that sounds like Double Jeopardy to me.

hot! do go on.

There really isnt anything else to "go on" about. It is literally just that when we are playing video games, or watching anime or movies, or looking at artwork, we tend to see the same characters and go "Hey, she's hot." Sometimes in unison (like when we saw Gal Gadot in the Wonder Woman armor for the first time).

EDIT: Also, just to be clear, I am not the one who downvoted you for your comment. Just so you dont think I am mad at you or anything.

Yeah. My fiancé is a bisexual woman. And she is so "normal" that her being bi begins and ends with with us laughing about the fact that we have a similar taste in women.

But so many trans people just decided they would go full degenerate, deliberately make enemies of everyone, and it honestly seems like their screeching about "Trans Genocide" is something they want as a challenge instead of what they think is happening (ie: "I WANT YOU TO KILL ME INSTEAD OF LETTING MYSELF DIE!")

TheModernDaVinci 1 point ago +1 / -0

Every action we don't approve of is enemy action.

And worse than that, its action you cant stop, so you just get more depressed. Which means you dont fight back. Which means you think it is happening more. So you get more depressed.....

Honestly, comparing being blackpilled to being an alcoholic is a fitting idea.

the most furries get is the jokes made about them. Troons, it's going to be biblical for the ones that pushed this.

Yep. I have friends who are furries, and they even use "Fucking furries" as a punchline to their own jokes. Which I would argue is why they are tolerated as long as they dont do extremely degenerate things to end up in the "fucking furries" category.

The troons on the other hand? Like much of the Left at large, I have seen them talking about how they fear the pendulum swinging back, and that everything they are doing policy wise is to "nail the pendulum in place" so that it can never swing back. And if you actually be the fly on the wall in their own areas, they are getting increasingly worried about that grinding and groaning noise coming from the pendulum they nailed in place and every nail they add seems to only make it worse. Because they dont seem to understand that when you do that, you only ensure the backlash will be FAR more violent than if you had just let it run its course.

The Gays, Lesbians, and Bi's let it run, and are now overwhelmingly considered a part of society. I dont see the troons getting that luxury after the shit they have pulled.

It makes sense that people living a good and easy life are drawn to grim dark settings, probably because their lives are comparatively devoid of excitement.

But even that has its limits. For instance, just to keep with Warhammer as the example of grim dark, Its not like I am playing it to be the bad guy. Well, "bad guy" relative to the real world (since the Imperium isnt exactly good), but I dislike Chaos because even as much as I like the lore I hate what they do. And the factions I play as tend to lean toward being more protective and guarding of their soldiers (like Imperial Guard, Space Marines, and Tau) because I dont like just throwing away my troops on meaningless fights.

So I suppose on that front, it could be a "I want to be a hero fighting the evil", which could still fit.

I have to wonder if there is something to that, psychologically speaking. Because I have the opposite, where I am generally into very gritty art like Dieselpunk and Grimdark (40K, etc), but IRL I am generally extremely optimistic and happy.

TheModernDaVinci 3 points ago +4 / -1

I dont think that is right. The coomers I have known will smash it to literally anything they can use to get their rocks off and have absolutely no taste. Which is part of what makes them into the degenerates they usually are. Meanwhile, it is the supposed "based culture warrior" types on here that have this unrealistic standard where they see women who look like the OP, which would be considered attractive by 99% of people, and say "they were made more ugly".

And its not just on this sort of front that I was talking about. I have seen plenty of people on here and on the more "based" side of Reddit starting to get just as puritanical about stuff as the SJW's. Where if you have a women, it must mean it is woke. If you have non-White people, it must be woke. If you talk about any sort of boilerplate "Been told a million times" story like "Corpos bad", then it must be woke.

It has become obvious to me that a large amount of so called "based" people are becoming the mirror image to the SJW's: terminally online, nihilistic, bitter, and unpleasable to literally anything.

At least from my experience, a lot of parents are becoming wise to that, which is why we are see school choice initiatives pick up steam. And at least locally, most of the schools in my town have responded by increasing transparency and making it easier for parents to keep an eye on their teachers.

Then again, you don’t typically find the true believers in the Dogma in the middle of Kansas, because they can’t stand being in a place like this.

10
TheModernDaVinci 10 points ago +10 / -0

It could probably also explain the wild gap in stats in the West where a lot of the cities are that degenerate, but once you get to even just the suburbs it starts to go away. There are a lot less people in that media environment, and the ones who are have parents who actually take care of their kids.

It’s probably also why you see the stats about how Conservatives and Moderates are still having kids in large numbers, while Leftist have a replacement rate close to 0.1.

TheModernDaVinci 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yep. They already ruined the chance that their own politicians will be safe from a Red State DA or AG gunning for them. If they were smart, they would only give Trump a slap on the wrist, tell him “naughty, naughty” and then move on.

Their base probably wouldn’t let them though.

TheModernDaVinci 10 points ago +11 / -1

It is a trend I have noticed recently of people being too stick up their ass and finding fault in stuff like this when it is perfectly ok.

1
TheModernDaVinci 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yep. And they refuse to even acknowledge there is a problem, which just makes that cycle even worse and more unrecoverable.

4
TheModernDaVinci 4 points ago +4 / -0

Meanwhile, here in my neck of the woods, almost all of our local business survived Covid, with the handful of exceptions being ones that everyone knew were already on their last legs or had unusual situations (like the restaurant where the owner had been looking to retire for years).

And when the riots came around, they were met in places like Omaha and Kansas City by a grim expression and a solid billy club. And when BLM went crying to the locals about “police brutality”, the locals overwhelmingly said “you punks got what you deserved.”

But if you ask the Leftist on places like Reddit, we are still living in the past and the future is in places like Portland and San Francisco.

6
TheModernDaVinci 6 points ago +6 / -0

Then when it comes out, they pretend it’s a good thing. Like when Cracker Barrel was leaving, I saw lots of comments about how it’s fine because of things like “who wants their disgusting, pre made food anyway?” “That is fine, we have local places! Who needs chains.” (Please ignore the fact a lot of their local business is dying), and “It’s because no one wants to support a racist business like that” (could have fooled me since the ones I see in the Midwest are always packed).

Meanwhile, my states are struggling to find enough workers, which is raising wages for everyone keeping for workers, and all of the newbies I see are ones who are all in on “Fuck where I came from. And may they all burn in hell and never return.”
