“People aren't rational. We're not thinking machines, we're feeling machines that happen to think.”
― Peter Watts
We live in a Post-Truth reality.
So it's not enough that they have access to everything you say and hear, to look over your shoulder at everything you watch or read, that they have access to and record every keystroke and message and email, that they have access to your biometrics courtesy of fitness trackers.
Oh no, they want you to accept the EULA and tap "Allow" to have access to your thoughts as well. Nothing is sacred to them.
Don't get me wrong — from a technological point of view I think it's fascinating. But these companies are the last people I'd trust to be let anywhere near that kind of data.
Also "freedom of thought" is pretty rich, considering how these days the idea of "thinking freely" is following your assigned programming script down to the last, and ensuring that you are fully receptive to the next Over-the-Air update.
This comment was a better read than the actual article.
I enjoyed your rant.
They are peak, "society," a privileged post modern class so civilized they've divorced themselves from truth and nature.
Especially this part. Imagine being so privileged that you can ignore the truth and not have to worry about suffering any consequence or hardship. You could literally live in your head and still have all your real world needs met.
Can they remotely switch the chip off if your social credit score falls too low?
"You failed to attend your monthly quota of State-mandated Kindness meetings for building Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity.
You have been demoted to Deplorable Tier.
To ensure continued access into not suffering from constant suicidal ideation, please submit 1000 GoodBoy:tm: points, now available at a promotional exchange rate of US$1 per point!"
Thanks for sharing that. I'm impressed at how calmly and clearly he was able to make his case. It's good to know that there are people out there taking a stand and making themselves heard.
Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic 0.8.5 should be hitting next week with the new GUI update, I'll probably start a new save and give it a spin.
Failing that, it's a coin toss between starting a new run in Factorio + Space Exploration mod, or Starsector + Nexerelin mod, depending on just how much time I want to kill.
There's probably an easier way, but I use the Character Map in Windows (or Alt+0153).
So we've gone from the woke telling us that objective reality isn't the "real" truth, but merely a social construct invented by the oppressors to keep the oppressed down.
And that lived experiences and alternate truths are not only just as valid, but more valid, because they are not systemically racist.
Now they've gone from admitting that their viewpoints, which disagree with reality, are just as valid as truths, to insisting that they're the one and only Real Truth™.
I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to pre-order a monthly Premium Subscription to Truth™, now available in a convenient commodity form.
What made it woke? I can't remember, to be honest. I stopped paying attention when they announced it, because the theme strayed too far from what I enjoyed about the earlier titles. IIRC, the complaints were the usual forced diversity of the protagonists, ham-fisted pro-immigration viewpoints, and subverting existing IPs instead of making their own.
I'm good for like a decade. Same here. My friends swear that Jagged Alliance 2 is great, I still need to give it a try.

I'd guess he's talking about XCOM:Chimera Squad.
Yep, I recall them doing that, DarkHorse's interview with Dr. Malone, their Ivermectin video(s), and Triggernometry's interview with Dr. Bhakdi.
It just seemed that back then, it was an unwritten rule that they'd use without warning to take down your video, leaving you stuck in the bureaucratic hell of their Appeals process. For the greater public who didn't watch channels affected by it, they might not even know it was happening.
I guess that now they're officially announcing it, it feels worse. Even if they have been doing it for months.
I was genuinely disappointed by the lack of outrage at this decision.
There are too many people who think YouTube, the rest of the tech giants, and the medical industry are all 100% perfect, and that every single action which they take is in the best interests of Saving the World:tm:.
I am not saying that they are all evil supervillains trying to take over the world — but at the same time, only a fool who has never witnessed human behaviour would blindly accept that they would never have their own interests at heart.
These companies owe you nothing; they are not accountable to you, and they have no incentive to pursue your well being as an individual.
Just because they happened to pick a side this time that by chance happened to be the same as yours, doesn't mean they are your ally or saviour.
I don’t understand why they don’t just adapt the woke garbage that has won Hugo’s/Nebulas the last few years. I find it pretty ironic to hear the constant bashing of dead white male authors but they have no problem making money off their work.
If I remember correctly, in some woke academic paper they spell out the intention that they don't want people to be enjoy any sort of escapism or entertainment that might distract them from "The Struggle".
Everything must be about their cultural revolution. You will not be able to read a book, watch a TV show, enjoy some sport, buy bread and milk at the convenience store, or deal with the bank, without constantly being reminded of The Struggle.
You can add to that the petty malevolent intention to bring about the "End of History" by changing everything from the past until it's unrecognisable.
As we used to say on KiA back on Reddit, "they hate you, they hate everything you like, and they want you dead".
Just to echo your second paragraph:
You cannot use reason when the person you're trying to reason with has based their entire worldview on the premise that reason, fact, and logic are all false, racist, and evil concepts.
One of the core tenets of their belief is that you aren't even allowed to engage "the enemy" in dialogue. You're not even allowed to debate them. Just speaking to them will defile you.
So best listen to your betters, and allow them to engage any and all dissident on your behalf to prevent your soul from getting tainted.
Vernor Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep and A Deepness in the Sky.
Alastair Reynold's Revelation Space series.
Just place the injector on the back of their mobile phones next to the fingerprint scanner, and they'll pay $1000 for the privilege.
People being "gross icky meanie poopyheads" in a dystopia? How dare they!
We're creating a civilization that wants the world bubble wrapped to protect them from absolutely everything — even things that make them feel uncomfortable.
Sometimes it feels even worse, it feels as if we are encouraging and rewarding people for living in sheer and absolute terror of the imaginary version of the world which exists only in their heads.
Sorry for the long and relatively pointless rant.
It's a nice morale boost to see that you aren't the only one out there that is fed up with this shit.
The Gulag Archipelago should be required reading, doubly so after the events of 2021 thus far.
That hairstyle looks like they got T-boned on the way to the hairdresser by a drunk, rabid squirrel riding on a lawnmower with rusty blades, and came off second best. As if they looked at a mullet, and then a bowl cut, and decided to make something uglier that both of them combined.
I remember the first time I heard about "Non-Crime Hate-Crimes" in Britain, I thought it was satire.
But it turns out that you can lay anonymous charges against someone because their words made you feel as if they were trying to commit "violence" against you.
