At least half of the population are incapable of independent thought, and 90%+ of the population are sheep who are manuevered by the elite. The idea of The People as an autonomous organ is a lie perpetrated by the managerial state to keep the sheep complacent. It gives the sheep a false sense of power that allows them to excercise agency in the same way that porn allows people to experience sex.

I'm pretty sure you're optimistic about 50%. I think it's close to 70%

Hence the use of + and at least. This is already pretty radical heresy and getting too harsh tends to make people dismissive. The sheep are well over 99% of the population.

It was very rare to see another person in a store without a mask on during 2020, and I am pretty rural. Your 99% is accurate, maybe even low

Hell, I don't think most of humanity even qualifies as semi-sentient.

I can't speak for the rest of you, but I've encountered so many people whom, when presented with information that contradicts what they've been taught to believe, or faced with a question that actually requires them to think rather than spurt out talking points, will simply shut down; or will react aggressively.

It's honestly scary seeing the nothingness behind their eyes when that happens. The phrase "the eyes are the window to the soul" really is apt here. They're more like robots or trained animals rather than people when this happens.

It doesn't even matter what ideology, politics, or societal level they belong to either.

simply shut down; or will react aggressively.

It's the primal Fight or Flight instinct kicking in. Their brain interprets your information as the equivalent of a physical threat and reacts accordingly. I don't believe they have conscious control over it.

There's a combination of two factors at play here:

  1. Level of intelligence. A large portion of your overall intellect is determined by genetics [assuming situational factors don't interfere like malnutrition or illness]. It's like when you see those videos of a poor good black boy getting "murdered" by police. You can watch it and count dozens of points of escalation on his part. He's not suicidal but he is committing suicide. He's incapable of foresight.

  2. Lifetime of indoctrination and propaganda. Even people who are reasonably intelligent, what chance do many of them have? For decades, the educational system, media, news, entertainment, music etc. have all been subverted with the goal of destroying western nations & cultures. Along with any nation with strong culture and identity, like Japan.

Intelligence, IQ, general intellect - doesn't matter what you want to call it, it's incredibly obvious there is a wide range of base levels of overall mental processing power among people.

This is true regardless of how much propaganda disgusting "academics" push.

Not sure exactly what you mean by the second part. To me western culture comprises many different primarily "white" heritages.

Western culture is just a PC way to say White society.

Yes, Progressives have become mentally deranged. Their ideology rejects the notion of truth and just makes everything out to be a bunch of competing narratives/rhetoric. Habituation into this mindset makes them incapable of telling truth from falsehood. They end up just believing whatever "their" narrative is and disbelieving anything else (because their narrative tells them that all competing narratives are bad/alt-right/Russian disinfo/neo-Nazi/"right wing"/etc). They are literally this meme.

That's why I tell people - there's no point in trying to reason with, debate, argue with Progressives once they're brainwashed. What's effective is to ridicule them, humiliate them, make those around them know what cancerous tumours they are. Use their own tactics against them so long as it's justified to do so. Take their words and use them against them. And always be on the offensive.

Just to echo your second paragraph:

You cannot use reason when the person you're trying to reason with has based their entire worldview on the premise that reason, fact, and logic are all false, racist, and evil concepts.

Ever? No. I think they are capable. I just think that those in power know the weaknesses of western society: comfort, convenience, consumerism, and image.
I consider those some of the core pillar weaknesses of the current day western world.

  • Comfort: People don't care about anything or anyone unless their own comfort is disrupted. We saw this succinctly during the riots last summer, when apathy reigned supreme about the absolute destruction insecure assholes were causing across the country. A ton of people didn't give a shit — or even supported it — until it came to their neighborhood.
  • Convenience: We live in a world where everyone wants instant gratification. They don't want to wait for anything. Instead of doing their own reading or educating themselves by seeking out information, they want bite-sized pieces handed to them so they can feel like they have a grasp of the greater picture. Don't even need to mention all the other facets of life where people trade in their autonomy for convenience either. We've become absolutely lazy as a culture; no one wants to earn anything anymore.
  • Consumerism: This is one I speak about a lot anyway. I don't expect I need to go into much detail. Consumerism has completely rotted people's brains. It permeates every nook of our society and is like a pestiferous disease plaguing the western world; it's the real pandemic. People have traded in their intellectual individuality to match whatever the glowing screen they worship tells them they need to believe in order to fit in. Whether they admit it or not, they know that should they decide to voice disagreement they risk being ostracized for wrong-think. They either conform or risk being ruined. They've accepted their role as mindless ghouls, shuffling along and obeying whatever the people they've deemed their betters tell them. Somehow, these same people completely lack self-awareness to realize what's plainly obvious. Even their hate for their opposition is literally manufactured for them and has been for decades. Where else would anyone get the ideas they have about conservatives if not for media/entertainment/tech and such? Anyone who once participated in consumer culture who has separated themselves — or become aware — knows exactly what I'm talking about. It's a narrative they've been promulgating for decades now. Even if historically they were much more surreptitious in how they went about it than they are today. It's why most of their views on their opposition are nothing more than an aggregation of media/entertainment created stereotypes.
  • Image: The level of insecurity that's inherent in the common person in 2021 is staggering compared to what it was in the past. Why is that? The answer is simple: social media. No one wants to get dog-piled on and made to feel like a fool for saying or doing something dumb. In fact, that's exactly why we never see anyone willing to actually admit they are wrong. In any conversation you have with a majority of common consumers online right now, even if you provide undeniable proof of them being incorrect about something, they'll immediately switch the topic to something else, avoid admitting they were wrong, or — my personal favorite — default to weird ad hominem hate-fantasies that they begin having about you. It's become such a common issue that people have actually begun to meme it by saying, "You shouldn't try to debate with a leftist." Image is the name of the game. It's why they elevate mental health; why they want to feel special with gender identities; why they constantly preach didactic bullshit for virtue points, even as their actions are antithetical to any person who's actually "good;" why they always appeal to emotion to manipulate and gaslight people; why they're always praising each other for their victimhood; the list goes on and on. They spend an exorbitant amount of time on their presented image to feel "unique." They despise intellectual diversity and demand conformity, so they've compensated for that by dressing themselves up like retarded clowns to feel like they stand out amongst a sea of group-thinking retards. It's become all about externalizing what makes them special, because nothing about them stands out mentally and they have the intellectual depth of a puddle of piss in the desert.

It's not a life sentence. I know plenty of people who snap out of it and wonder how the hell they've been "blind" for so long; however, it's also not something that anyone can be forced to see. They have to find it on their own, because as mentioned, the modern human ego has a hard time coping with the possibility that they may be wrong in their views. When they find it on their own, it's still a sense of satisfaction and the only person they're proving both right and wrong is themselves.
That's how I see it at least.

Probably less than most people assume but yes there are some people who are just.....living life completely on autopilot and it's baffling how they manage to hold a job or figure out taxes. I think there is even a phenomenon where a percentage of people just don't have a voice in their head. I don't know HOW that works.

Some of it might be genetic and some of it might be upbringing. Like how if a human fails to have any proper socialization/interaction/exposure to language for the first few years of his life, he's basically fucked forever and there's nothing that can fix it.

subbookkeeper 5 points ago +5 / -0

That is the default human response, even for you and everyone else. Fundamentally the brain is not a logical thinking machine, it is a survival machine. Any rational, reasoned logical thinking you do is the overwhelming exception to the stimulus, heuristic based norm.

That's the real red pill of life.

Scott Adams, Robert Cialdini are two author/bloggers you can follow if you are interested in knowing more about this and are probably the most accessible/top of my head.

Asch Conformity Experiments.

They're not literally NPCs, they're just sheep who go along with whatever they believe the dominant culture and dominant opinions of the moment to be. Because the media and communications are completely controlled by a very small group of people, the sheep are very easy to influence and sway. All of their reference points for what the dominant culture is that they need to conform with comes from the TV.

It's less that they are incapable of free thought and moreso going along with the trend for fear of being ostracized. it's easier to go along with the trend and be popular and accepted than it is to stand up for what you believe to be right. And that's where the majority are. They'd rather go with the flow.

Incorrect. Critical reasoning is real. The methods and skills need to be taught and exercised. It takes work and energy.

It’s essentially the principles of axiomatic logic in applied form. If you’re a math retard these may be new concepts to you. You also need to determine, as best as you are able, the facts of the situation you would like to form a hypothesis around.

Critical thought requires a baseline level of facts to evaluate new information with. Without that a person drifts with social pressure, anchorless, adrift on the torrent of public opinion.

It is not an accident that public K-12 schools have ceased teaching basic world history and science in grade school.
