I can't speak for the rest of you, but I've encountered so many people whom, when presented with information that contradicts what they've been taught to believe, or faced with a question that actually requires them to think rather than spurt out talking points, will simply shut down; or will react aggressively.
It's honestly scary seeing the nothingness behind their eyes when that happens. The phrase "the eyes are the window to the soul" really is apt here. They're more like robots or trained animals rather than people when this happens.
It doesn't even matter what ideology, politics, or societal level they belong to either.
It's the primal Fight or Flight instinct kicking in. Their brain interprets your information as the equivalent of a physical threat and reacts accordingly. I don't believe they have conscious control over it.
