Solar and wind are useful and viable in certain limited applications, but indeed should be abandoned as a large scale "solution".
That's exactly why Chernobyl 2.0 will be counter productive. Culture will have to change first, then energy, unfortunately
Critical Role was fine, as they actually play other characters.
The "modern audience" doesn't want to do that. They want to play themselves or a perceived aspect of themselves in a mostly modern world representation but with magic. That's why you have to have a wheelchair mechanic, and race no longer reflects anything of importance.
This focus on "self exploration" has infected not only the players, but the creative teams as well. As someone noted below, many of the dwarves are probably self-inserts. We also get such releases as: "D&D’s Strixhaven campaign has mechanics for ‘what a hot mess college life can be’".
Thus all fantasy productions will just be "L.A., right now, but with some magic.... kind of"
R.I.P. DnD. You follow other greats like star wars and Indiana Jones to Valhalla while the corpos wear you like skin suits.
AI has nothing to do with this. These are human controlled for now. Yes, it will likely change in the future.
There is a good sci Fi video about it though:
On that note, I subscribe to Wirth's law saying software is getting worse faster than hardware is getting better. So much software is just bloated and wasteful these days. I think it will accelerate with AI calls to the cloud, and I hope the bottleneck will make it unmanageable for blanket deployment (though cities are probably fucked as others have noted)
I think that's fair and appreciate the concern. I guess my opinion is if it's on the Internet, opsec is already out the window and you can be identified if they really want to. Especially with everything being on mobile devices these days.
In this case all you need is the game however. Coordination with other players will be tough, but not impossible.
Oddly enough he was super inclusive of women, even had a section in rules book on "pronouns".
Kuntz/Robilar is the last living founding member, he's speaking out on the real story though and he's pretty based.
