I read the username “ratatosk” and I definitely don’t think “this guy’s here to stir up shit without providing any substance.” No sir, the thought never even crosses my mind….

People generally know WOTC is owned by Hasbro, but if you ask someone who plays “who makes D&D?” or “who makes MtG?” you’re still more likely to hear “WOTC” than “Hasbro.”

Nah, he’s being weirdly combative. I think you unknowingly touched a sore spot because sometimes libs will go “well if Japan has so few crime problems, why did they have to make phones make a camera sound? Checkmate Japanophiles!”

Has she repeated that claim outside of the story about listening to songs that didn’t exist when she said the story took place? Because while I wouldn’t put her above any sort of vice, that particular “I smoke weed” moment was obviously just empty pandering.

I don’t think that was ever a real idea that he could have “gone through” with.

No, that’s stupid. The point of posting something is saying “this is good, you guys should see it.” When you post something—unless the title says “look at this bad thing”—you are implicitly endorsing it. Posting something that you yourself don’t know the content of is dumb.

Why are you posting something here without even having watched it?

The subtle grin and being cloaked in shadow suggests it's someone who is mysterious and cunning. You know, wicked.

If I recall correctly, though, the actual plot of that musical is that secretly she's not wicked, and it's the Wizard and Glinda who are terrible people.

It's kind of hard to argue that's the issue when the person it would theoretically be inciting drama with doesn't read the forum or post here.

He did not get driven off the forum except in that when he said something dumb, people told him he was being dumb. The worst you could say is that this thread maybe dances on the line of being unnecessary drama, but at this point he's been gone for weeks anyway.

I just don’t get why he’d bother going to bat for Lethn.

But you get why the comparison to Duke Nukem would be an example of him missing the point, right?

The obvious one that comes to mind is the one u/Kienan highlighted here because a) this is probably what made lethn delete his account and b) Kienan does a good job of explaining exactly why lethn attracts haters. Lethn had a habit of getting hung up on the most arbitrary things, like insisting that if someone implemented code that was effective and simple, it was still bad because it was simple. He wanted people to reinvent the wheel for every single game and asset in their game.

He would often write out long paragraphs that implied clear conclusions, then act like he said something that meant something different, then agree that what you thought he said is in fact what he meant, but also you’re misrepresenting him, and also everyone is a hater, and also those downvotes are definitely a conpro bot network and not just people annoyed with me….

On a side note, he was probably the most prolific commenter and poster here for several months, and he wrote very distinctly. You really don’t remember this guy at all?

Don’t blame “right-wingers talking about it.” Talking about something is how you show your support for it, or promote it to others. If no one talked about anime, it might skate under the radar longer, but only as a consequence of not being as popular or successful here, which would also not be good. The simple truth is that the left cannnot accept anything that’s not ugly and awful and controlled by them, so targeting anime/manga (and Japan in general) was always inevitable no matter what.

Did she plagiarize, or did her ghostwriter? Her name’s on it either way, she’s officially responsible for whatever’s in there, but realistically I’m not convinced she even read so much as a draft.

Concord was great, we were all busy during the two weeks it was out, that’s all.
