I would want it to grow, to be able to get more varied perspectives and prevent us from being so insular that we become a bubble that loses track of reality outside of our community.
I will say, we've always been so diverse, I think we have the 'varied perspectives' covered in spades. It's actually pretty amazing, when you think about, just how many different perspectives we have represented here, especially for such a relatively small community. We have fascists, Zionists, libertarians, Christians, atheists, people from various countries, and a bunch more. It's pretty incredibly all these factions can exist, and choose to exist here, when it was a definite possibility that most of a faction would have given up and fucked off.
Ever since you suggested becoming a mod 3-ish years ago, i personally supported you in the position.
Thanks, appreciate it. Although, again, never wanted the position. Just, like you, want to keep the community going.
I tend to agree with the vast majority of your takes...
Appreciate that, too, but it honestly shouldn't figure in to whether or not I - or anyone - should be mod. I don't care about a mod's politics; I care if they're sane, reasonable, and responsible enough to do the job fairly. If you're extremely ideologically driven in any direction, that actually has potential to make you a worse mod. For example, on the current Israel/Jews discussion, people fully on the "stormfag" side, or the "JIDF" side, would both make absolutely shitty mods, generally speaking, since most of them would effectively make one position illegal. They'd abuse their power to push their own agendas, and try to change the community.
One of the reasons I've always been so wary of expanding the mod base, too. We have so many diverse and contrary perspectives here, if the wrong people get in they'll abuse the power and destroy the balance and community. A bunch of people are already champing at the bit to destroy their opponents. Which is a shame, since we go back more than a decade as being a big free speech place.
Which, to shill myself, is why I think I'd be such a good fit. I don't fucking care. Again, with the Israel example; love 'em or hate 'em. I don't care. It's an opinion. You're welcome here. Don't spam, don't threaten violence or promote illegal shit, don't engage in obvious bad faith. Outside of that, it's generally all good. I would never use mod powers on someone for their opinion, even if I hated it.
Yeah, Dom implemented some filters that shadowban practically all new members, that's true.
Not sure how much power he plans to give over to the new mods, so don't even know if it would be in my power one way or the other, but I could see rolling back some of those filters, if we had an active mod base that could crack down on actual bad actors.
That was part of the problem. Dom wasn't around enough - and refused to institute new mods - so the board was constantly overrun by absolute fucking shitters (actual trolls, pedos, and Indians, but I repeat myself), so the filters did actually help make the board better...outside of stifling growth.
Again, though, the only reason that was "necessary" is we didn't have active moderation. So it all depends on who gets in as a new mod, how many of us/them there are, and what everyone wants to do. But I can certainly see opening things up more. But it's also dangerous; there are a lot of brigaders, so we would have to keep a close eye on new arrivals, one way or the other.
Because it's good?!
It's not my fault the leftists hate so much of the good stuff. But I'm glad they do. LotR isn't even "based" - at least primarily - but they get bent out of shape and then I can win free Based Points just for liking something I already did.
Just like Frieren. Or various movies, or anime, or entertainers, or music. It always makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I learn that something I like, that is pretty neutral, is hated by the leftists. I feel I must be doing something right, for it to happen so consistently.
It's amazing, they inject so much bullshit into their own propaganda vehicles, and then hate the apolitical stuff for being "far right coded" or whatever. Yeah, no, it's just...normal. GASP.
It's wild, leftists are so good at gatekeeping they even gatekeep themselves sometimes. Yup, LotR is "far right," so fuck off. If you like it you're a midcentury German or something. If only we could weaponize leftist gatekeeping more consistently, so they'd just fuck off and leave all our stuff alone.
Is there anyone still using their Reddit KIA2 username here that precedes the jump to the .win lifeboat?
Me and, although it's been so long, I'm pretty sure I recognize other names. AoV, of course. I think Socratic. Alfredic? Mpetey? Again, it's been so long, but I think some of the oldetimers here have the same names from Reddit.
Sorry to hear about your family situation, I hope it all works out as good as possible.
I was already nominated (thanks), but I'm officially volunteering. Never wanted to be mod, but always said I was willing. I've been here forever, and strongly believe in free speech, so won't abuse the system. I think those two things (account age/community engagement, and free speech) are the two most important elements for a mod, honestly. I want people to speak freely, and if modded will primarily use my powers against brigaders and other disrupters, as well as over-the-line calls to violence.
I'll second the nominations of u/SocraticMethod1 + u/The_Shadow_of_Intent + u/smith1980 + u/StaticNoise2
There are some other solid oldtimers around here too.
I'm flattered but I'm only willing to commit to a lazy effort.
Honestly, that's fine. We mainly need gatekeepers who can press the button when severe bad actors come around. I view it more as a safety backup, and a "lazy" mod is fine, maybe even preferable.
...if we want some who can actually moderate discourse...
I don't view that as a mod's job anyway, so we're good.
First act of business is going to be you getting permabanned again, Imp. Regardless of who ends up onnthe mod council.
And, if it's not me, and the mod doesn't do it...I'm still screenshotting the modlogs and posting a thread.
Imp's fucking cooked, no matter how you slice it. And, as you say, he brought it on himself by intentionally being a shitter.
There are rumors that he negotiated with Venezuela for them to give up Maduro...
Maduro either surrendered or was betrayed and handed over. I put that at above eighty percent, personally.
I got heat for saying that Trump's first term wasn't great.
It wasn't great by any means. But it was pretty good, grading on a bell curve. Trump 1 was perhaps the best US president in decades, not that the bar is high. But yeah, he still wasn't great.
...Then came the triple punch of Epstein-Iran-Venezuela. Now he seems like the most psychotic warmonger around - but I'm hoping that it's just a pose.
It's a mix. It's partly pose...but he's also clearly actually doing the warmongering, too.
The daily lives of Americans get worse too.
You need central banking to prop up this amount of war. So, morals aside, you're massively inflating everything to shift money to the warmongers.
Aren't we up to like 99% of all money in human history was "created" in the last few years? It's insane we don't have more inflation...yet.
This by comparison is a bloodless arrest of a criminal and he was even given a trial.
I'm glad it went smoothly, but you don't just get to do that. "Criminal" or not, he's a foreign leader. That's still an invasion and a coup. Calling him a "narcoterrorist" doesn't change that.
And, if we're doing shit this way, I demand the immediate arrest of Bibi and Zelenskyy™.
Hell, let's just go arrest all the European leaders, while we're at it. They'll all criminals, after all. We can administer the whole world, in the name of Democracy.
...people will point to this "great success" to justify ever greater foolishness and adventurism.
While I was relieved things went smoothly, even though I didn't want to go in at all...I'm also blackpilled enough at this point that my immediate initial thought was...ah, so we're pivoting to Iran. And, sadly, that prediction is still looking likely. I still hope I'm wrong, but it looks like America will likely be trying to take down Iran within the next months.
And the same retarded cheerleaders will cheer that on too.
That will be the seven countries...and Cuba, Columbia, and Panama seem to have been added to the list too. America is just going to try taking everything, it seems...while still condemning Russia and supporting the proxy war there.
It really is so infuriating and disappointed. They got to Trump, even more than they already had. This is a totally different Trump than Trump 1.0. I'd hoped it would be a better Trump, and there were hopeful signs but...nope, we get this nonsense and evil.
when they voice an opinion that you all voiced until literally 2 days ago.
Yup. At least I stay consistent.
If this is handled well, maybe things get better for Venezuelans in the short term. But I still think it wasn't our business, will be worse in the long run, and absolutely condemn it.
Maduro was, to put it mildly, not a good leader. But that's a separate issue than supporting his removal by foreign powers. It's also unclear if whoever comes next will be better or worse, since everyone queued up seems to be massively globalist traitors.
As is often the case when leftists are correct, they're correct for largely retarded reasons, but I can still give them a point when they earn it.
The attack on Venezuela and removal of Maduro was a shit move, and not America First. All these people on the right doing a 180 and cheering for this - and calling anyone who condemns it a commie - are pissing me off.
No. Venezuela was never a threat, and no one thought it was until they were told to fairly recently. It wasn't our freaking business, and it's not in the interest of the American people.
Interesting. Not quite sure what to make of it. He's ruled against Trump multiple times, and he's also ruled against the state and against the military even before Trump. So on the surface he's not just some flunky.
It is interesting that he was a JAG lieutenant, though. A dude with military connections is in charge of the...rather unusual trial of Maduro, who was just militarily extradited from a foreign country. He's also currently overseeing Hugo Carvajal's case. And ruled against Trump's use of the Alien Enemies Act in regard to Venezuelans.
Also, the link at the bottom of the page "List of Jewish American jurists"...I tried to open it, but it said my bandwidth limit for the whole decade had been exceeded, and then my computer caught fire under the strain.
Thanks again for doing this, OP. Had a blast!
For today, didn't feel like fighting to get twelve distinct characters, so just leaned into the cloning again. Tried to use Mario, since he's so iconic, but wasn't happy with the results, so switched back to my initial idea, which I'm liking...
Here's twelve Spider-Men drumming.
And, since this is the final day, I'm picking one of my pieces from each day and doing a final "Twelve Days of Christmas" list. Be sure to check out OP's links for other art from OP and arglide, too! Here's mine:
- Christmas Eve: Vivan presents you with a gift
- The First Day of Christmas: Lara Croft, partridges and a pear tree
- The Second Day of Christmas: Ciri and two turtle doves
- The Third Day of Christmas: Link has concerns regarding three French hens
- The Fourth Day of Christmas: Johnny Silverhand sings with four calling birds
- The Fifth Day of Christmas: Sonic and five golden rings
- The Sixth Day of Christmas: Black Cat with six geese a-laying
- The Seventh Day of Christmas: Solid Snake, Sarah Karrigan, and seven swans a-swimming
- The Eighth Day of Christmas: Batman and eight maids a-milking
- The Ninth Day of Christmas: Wonder Woman and the Sailor Guardians as nine ladies dancing
- The Tenth Day of Christmas: Ten Spartans as ten lords a-leaping
- The Eleventh Day of Christmas: Maomao, eleven pipers piping
- The Twelfth Day of Christmas: Twelve Spider-Drummers Drumming
I don't know if he's saying it's a good thing, but he's completely correct.
Clearly, international laws are make believe, if they can't actually hold the US, or Russia, or Israel, or any of the other big boys to account.
If countries can violate "international law" with impunity then, yeah, it's fake.
And, it was always a tool for the strong/winners to oppress the weak/losers, and push their interests. The very idea of "international law" is massively utopian. It requires the idea that a bunch of groups with different interests come together to hold themselves and others to account, without abuse power or pushing their own interests, or falling under the sway of any outside powers.
That's just reality. You can be a massive anti-interventionist, and still realize international law is fake and gay. It's not a big reach.
While there was some level of Nazi infiltration, personally I place much more blame on both existing American traitors, and global communist infiltration. Frankfurt School nonsense did way more damage than Operation Paperclip.
Which is not even getting into the coming Soviet infiltration (again with support from American traitors) during the Cold War.
Just look at Buckley who said we needed Big Government to combat the totalitarian Soviet threat.
His argument was that, to fight the Soviets, America needed to create "a totalitarian bureaucracy within our shores."
It barely even matters who did it, or what ideology; the problem was America was weakened and vulnerable, and bad actors both within and without destroyed our nation and our culture.
If the Marxists hadn't fucked us so hard, perhaps Operation Paperclip would have been more damaging, as the Nazis would likely have done the same thing. Because the opportunity was there.
Yup. He's currently a schizo and a troll. No matter how you feel about his opinions, he's not mod material, by a long shot. He's literally mentally unwell.
I think it's funny Dom didn't get that.
