Wow, you opened a can of worms for me. The Questionable Content dude currently has almost 13,000 patrons. Guy must be making 40k a month from that alone. (edit, said 50k, but that's probably high)
Trans are spooging over how deep QC is and how it helped them transition all over the place. I guess he found an audience that is willing to $$$ for shitty comics.
Mobile infantry made me the man I am today.
Even an insufferable feminist IRL like Emma Watson
More like "Even someone who can't sing without being autotuned to shit, like Emma Watson."
There's a new "VoiceOver" mod for World of Warcraft that has AI voices for all NPCs. It's insane. Some of the voices are flawless, some could need some work (with accents, for instance). All in all, it's clear the future of video game will be a couple of voiced main parts and the vast majority of minor characters will be AI in the future.
I was in a small town for the 4th and there was a huge parade. I heard Little Mermaid music and my first thought was ugggggh, but then the entire float of like 15 people was all dressed up like the original Little Mermaid. It was nice to see.
Snoop Dogg, I think.
Yeah, I don't get it. You could probably individually name all the 7 footers in America...
I'm about one head taller, a little more, than my wife. I think it's a reasonable height differential. Can't imagine, physically, that things work equally well with an "average" heighted 5'4 woman and a 6'6+ foot male.. think that would be rough.
A $3500 device that offers nothing that rigging the passthrough cameras on oculus devices at $600 could achieve? It's baffling
Why not reserve judgment until actual reviews are out, including head-to-head comparisons and people who really know existing VR tech?
I've said before, I think it's going to be a fun tech toy, and I don't think it's going to become a daily user for most people, but I think there are some very intriguing possibilities. Maybe in 10+ years when tech has continued to improve, everything is smaller, and batteries and power consumption better?
Apple could slap a fruit logo on a turd and call it the iShit and it would sell.
That's really NOT true. Apple has had plenty of dud products over the years, even ones that were cool and technologically ahead of their time (e.g., Newton).
and you won't have the shame of buying an Apple product.
As an adult, I feel neither shame nor pride over what products I consume. Anyone can consume, it's not particularly something to be proud of.
(Tbf, at least in theory)
i don't know much. I've used a DJI mini a couple of times and it was very cool. I've seen there's some, I think, 3rd party software that allows you to use a Oculus Quest with it and an Android phone.
There was one subreddit I've tried to access a few times recently that stayed closed--the iOSbetas group. The outage came from a big time too, as the iOS17 beta is ongoing. Shitty mods made a big deal about standing up for what's right, staying closed even when most others had reopened etc., they had a vote post up where, allegedly, the vast majority of the votes were in favor of staying closed.
They reopened a couple days ago, posted a shitty message about how this is not giving in, etc.
There's been a huge amount of activity ever since.
This is being driven 100% by the shitty mods. Users don't give a crap.
Ngl, I'm going to buy one. Fully believe it will be just a techno toy, but I'm at a stage of my life where I can afford it. I've been wanting to try out VR helmet + drone...
Bless you.
Not even close to the first time. Law schools are mostly pozzed beyond belief:
E.g., Arkansas in 2016 offered law students counseling after Trump won:

Novel I read many years ago, In Conquest Born, had these two galactic empires basically at a stalemate. One of them was nominally democratic and just, but ruthlessly enforced uniformity on its populace
The other was ruled by a small population who literally could put anyone else to death on a whim and were wealthy overlords, but, for the average citizen, they had far more freedoms than in the other empire.
Anyway, the tiny pure-blooded population who ruled the one empire had reproduction problems. Not enough genetic diversity, not enough kids, and women had trouble carrying kids to term.
Well, the laws of this empire mandated that every member of the ruling class must have 5 kids. This meant that even undesirables with healthy issues HAD to have 5 kids. As a result of this forced breeding, they were making their own issues worse.
Not really relevant, but it was a good book.
Any highlights? I haven't looked at it yet.
Anyone played Myth Force? It's by Beamdog, Canadian studio started by Trent Oster to revive Baldur's Gate and other Infinity Engine games (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, etc.)
I think Myth Force is their first original game.
That's exactly how I got into Sanderson. I read his Robert Jordan books first. Then, after that, I read Mistborn.
Check out Mistborn, it's a good starting point.
I hope any remaining GRRM book fans realize that Winds of Winter isn't even the (planned) last book. There's supposed to be another one tentatively titled Dreams of Spring. Seven books. Symbolism and all that.
I've been a GRRM fan since about 1997, and I completely lost interest after season 3 of the show. At this point I doubt I'll even read it, even if it ever does come out. Much like Patrick Rothfuss (whose books I also enjoyed), GRRM treats his fans like crap. That's fine, he's not a slave, but I also have the choice to give my money to author's I like who DON'T shit on their fans. Authors like Brandon Sanderson.
There has always been perversion, depravity, insanity, and evil. There WILL always be perversion, depravity, insanity, and evil.
The worst of the worst are those families who take their children to this shit. Every video of drag queen story time, drag performances with little kids around, and shit like this, is a major blackpill for me.
How can a society possible work when a large percentage of the population not only thinks this is OK, but that it's GOOD?
A bit obscure, but anyone ever read the short story “Parker’s Back” back Flannery O’Connor. tl;dr, it’s about a guy who is obsessed with tattoos.
Never had any interest in tattoos myself. Excluding girls who get, like, a heart on their ankle or something small like that, most of the people I know with sleeves or other large amounts of tattoos seem to make a lot of bad decisions and have poor impulse control.
Duke lacrosse was maybe the first major rape hoax that went viral on a national and even international scale. Black stripper accuses upper class white guys of rape. That's every SJW's wet dream.
No, I'm too much of a pussy. It (and the "IT'S AFRAID") is a quote from Starship Troopers.
