For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, “Impossible1 was right again.”

Bioshock Infinite is massively overrated in general. The story breaks away from the key elements of the other games, which is CHOICE. Your actions had an impact on previous games, but you can do absolutely nothing to alter Infinite. It’s a narrative downgrade for a series that delivered the Andrew Ryan moment. Also, Infinite’s dimension hopping is way too convoluted and makes all of your actions kind of irrelevant. Why should I give a shit about the world I just jumped too that has entirely different people?

The Witcher books are the only ones I’ve ever read that had sex scenes that didn’t feel entirely gratuitous, and even then they weren’t graphically detailed.

Super mutant? So now we have to deal with FEV?!?

On a side note, some of the cultural side effects are super interesting. For example, when I taught at a camp in China for awhile, many kids were dealing with having siblings. They had no cultural way of dealing with it. For example, in the states there are TONS of books that are like ‘big brother and baby sister’ kind of stuff, that help to give context for what siblings should do. Shows and movies will usually have sibling relationships. China doesn’t have this for obvious (state sponsored media) reasons. So more kids will be extremely culturally jarring at this point.

Neither is complaining about ‘tradcucks’ and the ‘global conspiracy of women’ and get that doesn’t shut you up.

Probably shouldn’t be eating your own shit. Eat a neighbor’s instead.

Too little too late. Maybe if he hadn’t been working hand in glove to cause half the population to be treated with absolute contempt then maybe I’d have a shred of respect for him. But he did. So he can shut up and enjoy the kickbacks he got.

Exactly. There was very little messaging going on, just exploration and storytelling within the Discworld. Resulted in a pretty nice balance, where you can both recognize that vampires shouldn’t modernize, but also see that you don’t need to hate golems. A special blend.

Pratchett’s characters are all surprisingly ‘conservative’ in many ways. Both Weatherwax and Vimes continually lament many of the changes of the world forced on them. In addition, I’d argue that most of the changes that DO happen in the world mostly line up with a democratization (moving from aristocracy to more accessible power and mobility) and not the usual progressive movements.

Ah. Well then, I hope my memory failed me on their origins, cause this makes me sad to see.

If I recall their history correctly, the Tolkien Society actually got their blessing from Tolkien originally, and even got his agreement to be honorary club president in perpetuity. So there could be a legit reason they’d want to ensure recognizability.

I’ve seen this exact chart in a Masters level education course, being held as an ‘excellent example of how to introduce students to considering gender identity’. I think that’s an even worse context to see it tbh.

You are actually delusional if you think China has a cabal of feminists running it. They will literally dumpster baby girls; I’d figure that you’d get off on their actions if anything.

On a related note, I am always so BORED by the ‘matriarch’ societies they make. You’d figure a true matriarchy would have very different values and be aligned towards particularly feminine virtues. Instead it’s always a normal society but with women in charge. There’s no imagination.

I’ve been meaning to get into the Yakuza games, so I’ll have to be sure to grab one then.

Pyre is great. Gameplay is a change up from their normal style; it honestly feels the most experimental of their games, but the story is pretty well written and the characters are all pretty endearing. Good stuff.

Love Hades. Honestly I love everything that Supergiant has put out; one of the only developers who I will immediately buy from.
