The rest of the tweet has the real meat of the comment.
I don’t want fans to HAVE to 'fight back' against game companies. I don’t want game companies to pander to a tiny percentage of players who probably hate their games anyway.
I loved getting gaming magazines in the 90s and early 00s. Stopped getting them when they turned into “women in gaming” every issue or whining about diversity in gaming
Unfortunately these articles weren’t about great characters, it was about “men bad and we need more women in gaming for reasons”. Basically the Sarkisian nonsense
It's sad that their games get so much exposure that should otherwise go to passionate devs who actually make something fun that many people like to play.
I vaguely remember a long time ago there was big hype over some game made by women, and it was just an interactive visual novel with maybe a half hour of actual gameplay and not-terrible-but-ok-artwork. They got invited to game development conferences and everything. The hype was far more about its development than the actual game.
It was good that ads tried to be entertaining because there were so many in EGM, particularly around Xmas. It would be, feels like, 2/3 ads, but I guess it paid for all the rest of the glossy print.
The sad thing is, this is why the environment was ripe for bad actors to slide it into feminist/tranny chaos. Libs are perpetually doubtful of old institutions and ways while being just as blind and incurious of their support of new theories on the nature of man. Or the ulterior motives one might have behind those theories.
Technologists and futurists also tend to be lib, as utopian thinkers who believe life can be perpetually built and perfected by human beings are drawn to tech development. This line of thinking doesn't really recognize lines in the sand, moral or otherwise.
The lefties working there then were still concerned about making a product that people wanted to play, rather than living on free money indirectly pilfered from the federal reserve.
I recently watched a video of liberals in congress, senate and Clinton from the 90s. While they still sucked back then, the party is not even recognizable to what it is today, it was actually pretty mind blowing.
"I want inflation below 4%, immigration to be through legal means, police to enforce exactly the laws that exist, and the most skilled and adept pilots flying my planes."
Depends. The "Right" or whatever the alt version means is a huge range between 90s Democrat and hardcore traditionalist Christians. We only get along because the Left is that far gone.
I think this is especially true on immigration. 90s Republicans were in favor of it. Maybe not officially in favor of illegal immigration, but they weren't trying to build up the border either . I just read a transcript of a Peter Brimelow /Tucker Carlson interview that mentions it. 90s Dems' politics still had to answer to unions, rather than the other way around. Oh and black people, arguably the biggest losers due to immigration. For Dems, whether someone had a long term plan to import a new electorate, I don't know
But there weren't enough recent immigrants to make it worth making a public case of it.
"Groups like Sweet Baby have been pilloried and nearly destroyed."
This is complete garbage btw. Just another 90s liberal acting as a limited hangout, inadvertently or otherwise.
Sweet Baby was just one logo of a multi-pronged, multi-NGO, state funded operation to socially engineer through western gaming, via shakedown groups on one side and ESG money on the other. It was never about one rogue company of genderqueers and it hasn't gone anywhere. Every AAA company will still happily suicide themselves to spite their white heterosexual customers. If Sandy Peterson was publicly assassinated for these words tomorrow, there would be hastily deleted social media posts from every major software developer suggesting he brought it on himself, just as with Charlie Kirk. You don't handwring yourself out of totalitarianism, which is what we're in.
That quote is somewhat out of context when you read the whole tweet. Sandy Petersen's a Mormon, so him being a lefty struck me as off.
"Back in the day game companies were generally left-wing just as they are now. However, the left has moved further, more radically leftwards. I could voice support for George Bush in the early 2000s and while my co-workers disagreed, I wasn’t made a pariah. Now the forces of progressiveness seem to be literally threatening game companies to toe the line or be cancelled.
But look at what’s happened. Groups like Sweet Baby have been pilloried and nearly destroyed. Fans, driven to the edge, are fighting back. I hate all this. I don’t want fans to HAVE to 'fight back' against game companies. I don’t want game companies to pander to a tiny percentage of players who probably hate their games anyway.
It's still just wrong, though. They're not close to destroyed and they're not the core issue. Plus they weren't pilloried enough.
My calling him a 90's liberal was not to say that he's a lefty. As other's have said, 90's democrat = 2026 equivalent of far right, but still a clueless boomer misidentifying the landscape, at best.
In my opinion, there was no choice but for the boomers to be trapped in that kind of thinking. Every normies I see these days now fondly look back at 90's yet they never realise that was the height of philosemitic era especially after Schindler's list getting released in 94. I didn't really know how bad everything was until last year or so.
I was caught up in it myself, as a 90s teen. They did a number on all of us. There were well-meaning people caught in the psyop and still are but, unfortunately, as time progresses, those who haven't broke free become less and less distinguishable from bad actors.
We're well past the point of lamenting 'wouldn't it be nice if gamers didn't have to fight' and 'when will companies realise who their real market is' - those stuck saying that serve as useful stabilisers for a captured industry. That's the nature of the limited hangout. Anyone who really recognises the situation could instead choose to be of real use by stating 'pirate all AAA games from now on' or 'purge all commie and jew influence from your companies'.
So basically '90s Democrat left vs. modern day Neomarxist psychopathy.
Congrats Sandy, you've made it to 2015 at least.

I love women in gaming! Rance Quest had several women in the game that were great to be there!

Used to be more like "Here are Lara Croft's boobs and thousands of advertisements directed what, obviously, is our demographic."
Yep. They understood who bought the games

They also enjoyed the products they produced, and actually considered themselves to be peers of their customers.
''Games companies should be making good games, not far-left propaganda.''
~Words of a 2026 Litterally Hitler.

The ''far-right'' of today is a 1990 Democrat.
"I want inflation below 4%, immigration to be through legal means, police to enforce exactly the laws that exist, and the most skilled and adept pilots flying my planes."
"YOU'RE LITERALLY HITLER!"
If only. Even literally Hitler wasn't "literally Hitler."
I want to deport all criminals to space
Overton window's a bitch.

Back then studios weren't overrun with women, fags and jews like today
