He absolutely was -- lived up to the hype and was one legitimate badarse.
Also, out of everyone in Hollywood, he was the ONLY one to publicly call out Steven Seagal during the height of Seagal's popularity; not after Seagal fled to Russia, not after Seagal got fat, not after Seagal stopped being dangerous. Nope, he called out Seagal for his bad habits and personality during the Dick Cavette interview, and Seagal never uttered a peep about it:
Also, props to Van Damme for also challenging Seagal to a fight face-to-face when they met at Stallone's house.... TWICE.
Even though I liked Seagal's earlier films I didn't care for the way he treated some stuntmen and other actors. He could be a real bully. So it was real bold of Norris to openly call out Seagal like that and not flinch an inch. Because that was back during the time when Seagal was actually legitimately good.
But it turns out that that didn't actually happen. Viking Samurai did an interview with a couple of the stunt coordinators who were working on set of Marked for Death when Lebell and Seagal had the encounter:
RIP one of the old great action stars & the vanishingly few (now fewer still) Hollywood stars who was an OK guy I can think of, as well as a memetic legend of my childhood and I'm sure many others'.
Was hoping this was fake. Been a huge fan since I was little and love Walker Texas Ranger. Was a show my grandmother loved as well and we watched it together sometimes
There are 9 seasons of Walker, Texas Ranger if you're in the mood for some over-the-top campy 90s action. As for films, watch Way Of The Dragon for some Chuck Norris / Bruce Lee badassery.
Delta Force 2 (just solid action and story from start to finish with great pacing)
Invasion USA (this movie is kind of silly but also pure badass, probably Chuck's most badass role, he just gives zero effs taking out the bad guys in this one and that final massive battle sequence in the city streets of Miami is the sort of thing you never see in newer films)
Missing In Action 3 (Basically Chuck's version of Rambo 3, but I really enjoyed this movie. Lots of balls to the wall action in this one basically from start to finish)
Delta Force 1 (Chuck teams up with Lee Marvin and they clean house with a squad of badasses. It's kind of goofy and a little bit like Megaforce, but plenty of action and very patriotic, somewhat like the Expendables before the Expendables)
Lone Wolf McQuade (Chuck vs David Carradine is the highlight, plus that Ramcharger is a beast)
Missing In Action 1 (An iconic film, but it doesn't really get going until near the end. This is the movie so many other movies copied off of when Chuck comes out of the water with the M60 and blasts the ever living daylights out of the bad guys)
Silent Rage (I really liked this film because it's a horror film but it stars Chuck Norris. Way different from his other stuff, and even though Chuck didn't like it, I thought it was cool seeing him face down against what was essentially a low-rent Michael Myers)
Firewalker (A poor man's Indiana Jones, but I'm a huge sucker for travelling adventure films, and with some martial arts fight sequences? Just my cup of tea)
Good Guys Wear Black (it's an interesting film with a few twists and turns, it's not fantastic but it's a good enough watch)
Sidekicks (This is a good one for the family)
The Hitman (Another interesting film where Chuck plays against type throughout most of the film. The sawed off shotgun and duster were the real highlight here)
The Octagon (My old man loved this film, and it's interesting for what it is -- the fight with the Black Star Ninja might be worth it. Your mileage may vary)
The Way of the Dragon (as others noted, this was the one with the iconic fight with Bruce Lee, but it's not really a Chuck Norris film)
One less american actor with world wide recognition.. sad. Very sad. 86.. banged a lot of women probably, met hundreds of other cool people, visited many parts of the world, a cool masculine role model for boys and boys looking up to him.
Bro did good. He lived a good, fullfiling life. Probably will be remembered for many more decades. Even more when they drag him out using AI in future movies.
And reddit is currently dancing on his grave for not being a commie. Because of course they are.
Same reddit fags riding the chuck Norris meme train back in early 2010s when retro kitsch and fake nerds were in fashion
Sad to hear. I thought he was someone all could at least respect

Speaking of Seagal mistreating stuntmen, ever hear about the time Gene Lebell had enough of Seagals attitude and choked him out on set?
Yup.
But it turns out that that didn't actually happen. Viking Samurai did an interview with a couple of the stunt coordinators who were working on set of Marked for Death when Lebell and Seagal had the encounter:
So while they did have an encounter, Lebell didn't actually choke out Steven or make him poop his pants, as it was alleged on the Joe Rogan show.
If a man is both good and notable reddit will celebrate his death. The more posts/comments and the more vile they are, the better the man.
Cucks led by jews
That's such a lame excuse to hate on the man
Though the real reason would likely because he was White
He is currently engaged in a game with Death and has sunk nearly all his battleships. The game is chess.
RIP one of the old great action stars & the vanishingly few (now fewer still) Hollywood stars who was an OK guy I can think of, as well as a memetic legend of my childhood and I'm sure many others'.
I guess woodchucks can start chucking wood again. RIP.
He's not dead, he just got promoted to manager of the afterlife.
I’m sure he’ll manage to beat up death. RIP to a legend.
Now he really can descend down from the Heavens.
Glad for him, had a long amazing life and doesn't have to endure the current shit show.
Hope he does us a solid and spirit round house kicks the entirety of the US government 😂
Chuck Norris didn't pass, Life just needed the rest.
He's roundhouse kicking angels now
I had no idea he was that old. Though the math is mathing now that I think about it.
The official winner of that Death Battle is Segata Sanshiro.
Because Hiroshi Fujioka still lives.
Was hoping this was fake. Been a huge fan since I was little and love Walker Texas Ranger. Was a show my grandmother loved as well and we watched it together sometimes
Barrens Chat will never be the same
Requiescat in pace, hopefully his meme lives on.
Delta Force will never be the same.
What's a good movie with him i can watch? I was there when the memes were in full swing but i never watched his stuff.
Missing in Action or Delta Force come to mind.

Way of the Dragon has the iconic fight between Norris and Bruce Lee
In terms of quality they rank in this order:
Delta Force 2 (just solid action and story from start to finish with great pacing)
Invasion USA (this movie is kind of silly but also pure badass, probably Chuck's most badass role, he just gives zero effs taking out the bad guys in this one and that final massive battle sequence in the city streets of Miami is the sort of thing you never see in newer films)

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll check a few of these out.

GG
Damn, god speed ya mad lad.
So Chuck Norris finally let the reaper win.
