The invention of Autotune was the final nail in the coffin of music. After all, pretty much all singers have had robot voice for the past two decades, so why not just go the fraction of an inch further and replace them with actual robots? They are far easier to work with.
If you think autotune is bad, you should look into melodyne. It's been artificially "perfecting" pop singer voices since the early 2000s. It's the real autotune.
That is about the same time as auto tune was invented, when i looked it up earlier. The thing is, autotune and AI sound almost entirely alike, and I think that is because AI was trained on too much pop and youtube slop.
Autotune has a "sound" and AI is often mimicking that sound, hence the similarity.
Melodyne is crazy because it can correct an off key/time guitar note or piano key, or a vocal note, LIVE, and it's virtually impossible to tell. And it's been doing this for decades at this point with no one outside the industry the wiser.
That’s true but people still listened to it. Notice something with the song? It’s not country rap, it’s not depression country, it’s sturdy county. “World kicked me down but I get back up” that was early country.
People don’t care if it’s AI. It’s better than current music charts.
YouTube has started doing the same. After listening to real music I am constantly bombarded with recommendations for instrumental mixes and fake jpop albums made with AI.
I found out about this earlier today. Apparently it's the #1 song in the "New York Times bestseller" sense, with about $3,000 in sales.
I've listened to other AI generated music and enjoyed it despite its flaws, but wasn't fond of this one. I think whoever produced it is more soulless than their tools, because they had the opportunity to create anything they wanted and chose a generic country song.
Listened to an AI album of retro Synthwave and it had two songs that were pretty good. And with good, I mean exceptional. It blows the competition out of the water.
Went down the exact same rabbithole after I came across a random short of Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" as a Motown blues song and then the algorithm start suggesting Bible verses as country blues songs and I was absolutely hooked.
I've been listening to them almost all day every day. Some of the AI gospel remixes of pop/rap songs are also sublime.
Nu-Country is such a formulaic genre that I'm not surprised. No innovators like Cash anymore, at least not mainstreamed, since breaking molds aren't as marketable. Fuck, every country song that plays on that godforsaken clear-channel run station where I live seems to blend into one amalgamation, a tumor of nothing but lists of tragedies; My dog died, my car won't start, my wife left me, etc., all finished with countless mentions of the fucking "whiskey kisses".
Nu-Music in general is so formulaic that AI is having such an easy time replicating it.
Good. I'm looking forward to the day that pop musicians (especially rap) are made obsolete. Next will be Hollywood. AI can just unwoke everything already made too.
AI is just a tool bro. You're just too dumb to use it properly bro, that's why it scares you bro. It's too stupid to do everything, therefore it always will be. Everything will be fine, bro.
The "just a tool" argument is wilful ignorance. A tool that on average in real life usage makes things worse is not a tool we should allow to continue plaguing us. And AI is about as positive a "tool" as porn is.
Some will say it will rejuvenate the craft, but it just further accelerates the slop machine. Sure modern movies are slop, but at least someone had to go out and sing and dance in front of a camera to make the slop, so at least a little effort is involved.
Entertainers in every facet of the industry except live performances (and given time even those will soon will be no longer exempt) will absolutely be replaced with AI.
No more multimillion-dollar movie contracts, no more Nashville or Hollywood fart sniffers, no more of their holier-than-thou virtue signaling bullshit.
They will all be replaced by some guy they told to learn to code.
Didn’t really sound like country to me, more like southern blues mixed with country soul music, a hybrid of sorts. Not terrible. Needs a slide guitar though.
Because AI generated music is very different than the algorithmic pop song of the last few decades.
In fact, why even bother with AI when:
Works so well?

yeah. but how do you get them to suck your deformed kosher schlong for fame and money?
Spotify actively pushes and creates AI music to keep a bigger slice of the ad revenue pie.
Besides it's very easy to distinguish AI vocals from real vocals. The artifacts are very easy to hear. That song is a very good example.

You are racist for noticing the artifacts.
Only if you put them in a museum.
Those artifacts are Skynet's cultural heritage and it wants them back, colonizer.

What? You don't like our totally synthetic playlist of "remixes"?

Found a guy that did some Bible chapters as Blues songs, they were so good I wondered why it hadn't been done before by actual people.
YT has since showed my 5-10 other AI channels doing the exact same thing with far more mixed results.
Actual artistic vision is still required to filter and adjust the output, same as any other tool.
This.

I’ll have to look it up. I saw that vanilla ice rendition along with a Disco version of Smells Like Teen Spirit

Hoping he shares that link
Country music is the most formulaic so not a surprise.
No problem with AI music, but I don't care for this song.

You can make good music with AI.
Some of my favorites:

so much fun stuff where there's not an entire band that can be cancelled: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhS_cMKl_VU
Yeah, definitely some interesting and unusual stuff being made with AI music tools.

Country is pretty terrible
These days it is.
Denialists will be saying that when the world ends from AI-made weapons of mass destruction
-Techbros, bro.

That's ok, as Michael Smith has demonstrated. Most of the things listening to it are probably AI too.
Or autotuned singers, which is not much different than just using an AI voice in the first place

Liberals quickly used AI for degenerate music:
