That shit is hilarious. Guess which one is the remaster in this side by side
All this improvement for only 1000x the system requirements. Yes, literally. The original requires 16mb of vram, the remaster recommends 16gb.
Edit: For cpu requirements, the original recommends pentium II 300mhz, which is so old that it's not on passmark, but a score of ~40 can be extrapolated. Remaster recommends a ryzen 7 5800 which has a passmark score of 25,785. So only ~644x as much compute. A contemporary gpu like the riva tnt2 would have a fill rate of ~250MTexels/s, the remaster recommends a 2080 which has a fill rate of ~315GTexels/s, so 1260x.
Calling it Xbox 360 graphics is quite the compliment if you know how old the original Deus Ex is .
Anyways the true terror if the seeing the remake Deus Ex compared to a high rez fan mod is look at character models. Seeing the security robot in that picture isn't bad but the characters is where it's really a ugly fest.
Considering that the lip sync is on point it definitely is not a bug. Probably another case of game needs to be shipped but is still very much unfinished so just do the bare minimum and maybe fix it later.
I wasn't suggesting a bug, I was wondering if it was at least partially a bad stylistic choice rather than only rushed animation. While it does look bad it also doesn't quite seem to share the traits of a lot of rushed animation I've seen in the past.
Honestly I wouldn't rule it out. A lot of game devs tend to have their heads so far up their own asses that they unironically think the shit they produce is actually good.
The writers room definitely had their heads up their collective asses and I'm sure most are proud of their work, but I get the feeling that the animator had an idea he thought would work well and by the time it was realized that it wouldn't it was too late to change, not rushed to the point of being unpolished, but rushed in such a way that they had to polish a turd.
Place your bets. What will be the next 90s/00s era PC classic to get a DEI remake/sequel that completely ruins the IP?
Deus Ex. They're already making a remaster to test the waters.

Someone saw what cuckstar did to gta and wanted to compete.
So JC now fights the patriarchy and becomes a tranny?
Nah, they won't go that far. They'll censor a thing or two at most.
I would’ve said KOTOR, but it already was one when it released.
KOTOR was a DEI remake/sequel that ruined the IP? What?
Read posts before replying to them.
So you're suggesting KOTOR was DEI slop that ruined its own IP when it released.
What exactly am I misunderstanding?
Bravo. That has to be the worst animation and voice acting since ... well, I can't really think of something worse of the top off my hat.
Those animations are truly magnificently shit. It looks worse than the original game.
I genuinely can't tell if the movements were meant to look that janky

There were already chicks in the first one, so making it lame and gay was probably a no brainer.
IIRC the first was also pretty gay, the whole game is about sucking off dudes.
Playing hardcore is sucking off girls.
Leana Hefer
Moo?
I'm guessing this one won't have the money console command. How far we've fallen... 😔
Now that takes me back. Therese Voerman and Jeanette could be given a lot of money before the physics started to break.
"What's a console" - UE5 noodle-slop "coder".
Uh… coming from an old timer - Vampire: The Masquerade was always lame and gay
Yeesh. Are they trying to copy the stylistic pixar-esque animations from the original? That only worked in first person dialogue.
