OP’s experience is pretty similar to what I’ve seen at VA clinics. I’m convinced that they half-assed my father in law’s cancer diagnosis so that by the time they caught it, it was too late.
When I went to the va, it took me 4 months to get a referral, 11 months to see the specialist, and he told me the va takes too long just go pay out of pocket and closed the referral. Thanks doc.
This is about average for all the places like this with government healthcare.

I remember driving an hour to go to a different DMV because it was faster. We really did get home faster than if we had gone to the closer one.

You don't need to go to the VA for Motrin and bottled water.
This is about the average for all places if you don't pay out of pocket. Really makes no difference if the country has government healthcare or not.
