Lefty industry analysts can’t admit that feminist writing destroyed popular IP, so the race is on to manufacture more politically correct causes for the undeniable decline.
When the answer to “what happened” is an uncomfortable truth that shatters the left’s insane worldview, then the “investigation” must necessarily become a farce. I imagine a Naked Gun style police detective staring at the ceiling trying to find the cause of death while there’s a bloody knife between his feet.

Great minds... The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this post was Drebin telling Nordberg's wife "I promise you, whatever scum did this, not one man will rest for one minute until he is behind bars" before turning to Ed and saying "Now let's grab a bite to eat."
Its a "hard stop" maneuver. You interrupt an incredibly emotional event, where tempers will raise and thoughts runaway as it goes on, with a complete nonsense thing that causes the "jolt" of how odd it is to basically derail the train that people's emotions are running.
Its a very useful manipulation technique, brought from Anger Management psychology and helpful for dealing with spouses (where 'winning' is still losing often). And like most things Leftist, its now being maliciously applied to prevent anyone from questioning them.
Its especially effective if you give them some positive emotion to replace the gap with, especially a subconscious one like food or sex.
