Studio given free reign over team building and dev time ends up wasting so much time and money that they get the entire project cut.
If you’re an executive at a big game publisher watching small studios crank out big hits like Helldivers 2 and Expedition 33, then you have to start asking tough questions about why your own bloated, overpriced, DEI infested teams can’t deliver even half as much quality despite 2-3x dev time. And when you realize that DEI is a huge part of the problem, you can’t turn around and publicly announce to the world that you are firing a bunch of women and blacks in order to make your video games good and profitable again.
It used to be that all the major games were developed within 1-2 years by a team of 20-30 core people. Of course they were far lower in graphical quality. That is with them being nearly all white/asian males though.
As some others were saying in the thread about TES 6 the goal of some of these execs is to simply get a company to the point someone will buy it out. Whether that's through success or devaluing depends on the execs.
Whose going to buy EA? They have tons of IP, but no ability to use it.
Normies are retards and cling onto brands despite how in the gutter they might be. Tencent could easily swoop in and buy EA or any other number of crumbling brands and still normies would buy whatever slop was thrown at their faces.
At least we would get a new game. EA has killed more IPs that I loved than Activision.
Tencent could probably pull it off but they'd never go for it at the moment since the valuation includes all the dead weight employees.
I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen in 10 years as EA continues to do the same things and continues failing, though.
Just look at Ubisoft.
The deal with Tencent is exactly what I describe above, too. Sectioned off IPs that they bought without any of the baggage. But Ubisoft had to be in dire straits to even go for it.
The people who still think tes6 will be good are lost beyond reason.
What they're really thinking about is how they can outsource more of the dev jobs to India/Asia/SEAsia/Africa or replace their staff with AI to cut costs, while also increasing their corporate DIE scores
Helldivers 2 had hundreds of millions in funding, Sony backing and a dev team the size of Skyrim's, as well as 8 years. And they produced a cancerous MTX riddled always online abomination that comes with malware in their korean anticheat that literally only protects their mtx system.
They're as "indie" as bungie. EDF is actually made by a smaller budget studio producing consistently better games.
The executives don't know fuckall about shit. They're money whores that get told "gaming is cool and popular so we should spend money on it, this game GTA6 is projected to make 50 billion dollars so invest"
They're not wrong about creating a "safe environment" by not hiring whites. Any white who finds themselves in a black majority anything, especially those who nakedly wear their hatred of them like these devs do, is in very real danger.
