The Lopez brothers were 10 and 11, their lawyer said, when their mom brought them across the U.S. border in 2016. The family applied for asylum, claiming they were trying to escape violent gangs in El Salvador.

During the next nine years, Amoachi said immigration officials denied the brothers’ asylum request three times. But they continued to pursue other avenues to remain in the country and checked in regularly with immigration officials.

“They are good people,” the boys' mother, Alma Lopez, said through a translator.

Here illegally a decade and still refuses to speak English

Alma Lopez remains in the U.S. with another son who is said to be disabled.

They can be disabled in El Salvador

For now, the Lopez brothers have been living with a family friend in El Salvador, saying they are afraid to leave the home and are worried about their future plans to work as a welder or financial planner.

El Salvador’s homicide rate: As of May 11, 2025, the rate was estimated to be 1.20 per 100,000 inhabitants

New York: As of the latest data, New York City's homicide rate is 4.9 per 100,000 people

They are 400% less likely to be killed in El Salvador, they’re terrified they will actually have to work for a living instead of leeching off taxpayers in perpetuity

their mom brought them across the U.S. border in 2016.

the boys' mother, Alma Lopez...remains in the U.S....

But...why?

Not to put too fine a point on it, but why is the mom still here? Presumably she's illegal too? Or is she smuggling children in despite being an American? Regardless...bye, Felicia.

Things are going better than they were, but our country still remains a joke. And certainly our legacy media, legacy courts, and legacy politicians.

Regardless...bye, Felicia.

If I was emperor, I would deport the lawyer too.

If I was emperor, I would deport the lawyer too

Ok, don't be unreasonable. Simply give them the same treatment that Trump's lawyers got: threats of disbarrment and prosecution.

I read another article about them. She came when she was pregnant and had an anchor baby(the disabled one). She also doesn't live with the two who were deported. She lives in Georgia and the two oldest lived with her "long distance boyfriend" in New York.

Alma Lopez remains in the U.S.

This tells me all I need to know.

Their mother cares for them so little that she prefers to milk the comforts of the US rather than keep her family together, and dumped them on an old friend instead.

Cared enough to smuggle them over (unlikely to be her actual children), but then dumped them once her gibs were on the line.

She has a “disabled” kid to anchor her. It sounds like the “long island” kids were shipped off to Georgia as well while the mom remained in New York.

The reverse. The mom lives in Georgia and she shipped the oldest two off to her "long distance boyfriend" in NY.

Considering our retarded government is now taxing unrealized gains, pretty sure these El Salvadoran brothers owe us taxpayers a shit ton of money for the work they would have done had they stayed here.

The government now taxes you like family court calculates child support a man has to pay to a woman, allegedly for the kids : based on your highest recent income you are expected to match every year regardless of new situation and what you want to do with your life.

Are you referring to quarterly estimated tax payments? Those are hardly new.

I dunno about you guys, but "being here illegally" seems to infer a criminal history 🤣

So a 19 & 20 year old were brought into the US illegally. Their asylum claims were denied. And now they are being deported.

This is a non-issue. The system operated as intended.

You do not have the right to live in the US.

They also no longer need asylum, since El Salvador is now a safe country thanks to throwing all the gang members in jail.

yeah, Bukele literally just launched a major operation in a city comprising of hundreds of law enforcement... to arrest 10 gang members.

Detroit is far more dangerous.

They were brought into the US illegally when they were 10 and 11. They then remained for 9 years while their asylum claims were processed and denied repeatedly. Now they're finally being deported.

Precisely. There is simply no reason to keep them.

Are there no prisons?! Are there no work-houses?! No, seriously, they aren't in prison, they aren't in workhouses, they're just... in The Salvador. With friends. If the mom is so worried, there's an app that lets you catch the next flight out, but since Bukele's leadership, the crime rate has dropped to lower than USA city levels, so she need not be worried. Still not a good look to not want to support your own children.

New York has one of the lowest homicide ratings out of major cities, and they’re 400% higher per capita than El Salvador, Chicago is over 2000% higher
