DEI in media is not a new thing in the slightest; from Law & Order's Wikipedia article, this happened all the way back in 1993! (media.scored.co)

You're not American, right? Most Americans don't realize what a disaster the French Revolution was.

Because government schools absolutely suck at teaching history in the US. Or teaching much else. Those of us who know about the proto-commie jacobins and the custerfuck of wars right before the Napoleonic ones pretty much had to learn that on our own.

History according to the US education system went as follows:

Indian genocide
Slavery
Civil war
13th amendment
World War 2
Civil rights act

If it wasn't about one of those six things, it functionally didn't happen.

Its been a while for me, but the Revolutionary War did get considerable coverage.

Arguably one of the only American History moments taught as just history instead of being chosen deliberately for its political purpose.

The current generation is taught as little as possible about that time. Kids don't know why the colonists hated the King, who Paul Revere was, etc. They might know there was a war and that today's July 4 celebrations have something to do with it.

While that is bad from a history learning standpoint, even mentioning some of the event is massively more than most things get.

If Canada didn't constantly bring it up to pathetically brag, I doubt 80% of America would know there was a war in 1812 and that number who know is still low.

That gave rise to Napoleon who preceded to turn proto-Italy inside-out?

If by turn it inside out you mean set it on the path to greatness to such degree that the rest of europe collectively pissed their pants and ganged up on him then yes.

It's to the point that if there's a grrlboss on the cover, I write the show or movie off until I can catch some trusted reviews. So tired of woke women lectures in all genres of movies or shows.

It's not 100% foolproof, but my heuristic is no cleavage, no watch/play.

Yeah that's another clue. If she's dressed in a way that would trigger feminazis, then odds of it being decent improve. Video game characters especially.

Literally anyone alive in the late 80s and 90s knew it was a thing. Every single cast of more than 2 people had a woman or a black, and as it grew you gained a relative amount more of women, colored, and some combo of both. Every single kids show followed something like "white male, white girl, black, latino, other (wild card could be more white or not)."

The difference was, most people were still of the belief that this was improvement. That it was being done sincerely instead of maliciously. So it wasn't enough to piss people off or get the noticing to be resistant.

Of course those pushing it from the shadows and the academics were absolutely doing so with a nefarious agenda, but they were boiling slow enough that a lot of people were moving towards "don't see color." Its why they had to push gangsta rap and Rodney King to such heights, to make sure the blacks didn't fall for it after guys like Cosby and Uncle Phil were helping blacks improve.

It goes back further still. The original premise of Sesame Street in the 1960s was that it would expose White children to idealized versions of niggers and spics. The Muppets were all different colors to promote racial colorblindness.

When they started adding female Muppets in the 2000s because they decided there weren't enough, it was an extension of the DEI the show was always about.

Anti-male DEI at the state level has been a cancer since the 1960s :

DEI in media has been a thing since the 60s and really much longer than that. It’s just so in your face now.

The movie PCU came out in 1994 and it's making fun of the same shit you see on college campuses today.

There's an SNL or MADD or whatever clip from 1993 that perfectly sums up today's left. I saw it a while back but I don't recall what show.

IIRC a bunch of students (college) that look like your typical leftist trying to cancel their teacher for being politically incorrect.
