The main problem with what Kendrick did is that I can't understand him. I cannot understand the words coming out of his mouth.
Obviously this was supposed to be some deconstruction of America with Samuel L. Jackson in the Uncle Sam hat and the black supremacist thing (likely conceived for a Harris presidency), but it's impossible for me to have a reaction. Even when I can make out what the dude is spluttering I don't get the references.
Apparently nobody else in the stadium did either because all the crowd shots are people standing around confused.
Rap is gay. Like Tupac is fake and gay.
Just more brain rot nigger shit.
I didn’t understand him but I’m so out of the loop with rap. Last rap album I bought was in 02. I just assumed it was the usual “America is racist” speech we’ve heard over and over. Others are saying there is an anti pedo message as well
Probably, but I'm not sure what message was intended in "Hellllcat men so boys tax atop these do solo kay" and "certified loverboy certified FAAAAAAAAA"
He's saying Drake is a pedo who sold his soul for fame, and Katt Williams openly refused.
Kendrick Lamar also sold his soul for fame lol. He's also a gang banging piece of shit or he used to at least hang with bangers
I didn’t even understand that lol
Apparently they had Serena Williams do the crip walk and her older sister was shot and killed by crips. It’s amazing how soulless they people are.
That is sad but I can’t even say I’m surprised
Wasn't anti-pedo. He just called another rapper a pedo to own him.
Gotcha. Wasn’t aware of the beef between those two
Neither was I. Taking the honor of doing the halftime show and making it all about MEEEE AND MY RIVALRY was childish no matter who does it. I don't know either of these rappers nor do I care for their bitchy rivalry. Definitely felt like a celebration of black power under thr assumption Harris won in any case.
Yea or another lecture about America and racism which you hear about non stop
There’s some feud where he’s been calling another rapper—Drake, I think—a pedophile. And of course the solution is to repeatedly release diss tracks instead of go to the police or anything….
The problem is that Drake is Canada’s Diddy, aka he has a lot of people on the take.
There’s way more evidence for that accusation than against, it’s just that actually getting action done is going to take forever
Fair enough
I'd rather listen to Taylor Swift on loop for 24 hours that to listen to one nigger "rap".
I'd rarher be waterboarded for a halftime show than do either of those things.
Byt frankly what does anyone expect from bread and circuses sportsball these days? There's been zero reason to expect them to deviate from their downward spiral. I didn't even realize the superbowl was this last weelend until someone started talking about it at work.
This was the year of mumble rap for the Super Bowl and national championship. Both went over like soggy toast with only the usual suspects screeching how beautiful it was because actually quality of anything has been irrelevant to them for over a decade now.
I’d rather watch a hologram of Elvis, James Brown, or The Doors
Found a halftime show Creed did a few decades ago and watched that instead. God damn how much times have changed and I'm not even the biggest creed fan
I like them and started liking them even more when their song Higher became the soundtrack to the Rangers World Series run
Yeah getting Star Wars prequel vibes. Didn't like them at the time but compared to the slop they want normies to like now (mumble rap, Disney star wars woke slop), it looks way better now lol
Kendrick isn't a mumble rapper. He's considered a lyricist, he won a pulitzer prize.
He was handed a Pulitzer prize, when no one even knew that rappers could win 'Pulitzer' prizes. Sounded like a virtue signaling participation trophy from left-progressive white Americans to everyone else.
Well yeah, but my point stands he isn't a mumble rapper. He is considered to be one of the best rappers because of his lyrics. Which makes his performance even worse. He shouldn't have been that unintelligible
A turd with an award is still a turd.
He didn't call him a mumble rapper. He said he mumbled during this live performance.
9/10 rappers sound like shit live for this very reason. It ends up sounding like mumbling.
my group also couldn't understand the lyrics at all. and commented that the set seemed to be made for just the tv cameras and it must have really sucked to see live at the venue.
Didn't even think about that but you're right. It must have been really thrilling to see Kendrick chase a camera for 10 minutes
It was obviously a halftime show planned with President Kamala in mind and it was paid for before the USAID shutdown.
Why did they give the worst part of the 2022 Superbowl Halftime Show his own Superbowl Halftime Show?
They Not Like Us is a banger I'll admit (and I'm Canadian so it hurts to love a Drake diss track as he was our big rap success story) but the rest was completely forgettable.
It’s called nigger worship.
This halftime show would have made more sense if they dancing naked, with body paint, with spears in their hands. …. At an exhibit in a zoo.
The studio versions of the songs (aka what you listen to on YouTube/Spotify/DSPs) isn’t mumble rap at all, it’s the live mixing that was awful. Not really gonna bother giving the message of the visuals because a lot of what the visuals and Samuel L Jackson as Uncle Sam are for flies over people’s heads, but one thing I will say is that because of how bad the game was in terms of it being a blowout, more people watched the halftime show than the second half
I don't think it was planned for a Harris presidency. But Jackson being dressed like that saying Kendrick was too ghetto was definitely a message
Kendrick Lamar is a cookie-cutter mainstream rapper with a BLM chip on his shoulder. They probably specified that Jackson had to say that in order to boost Kendrick's stage presence.
It absolutely wasn’t.
In fact, towards the end, after NLU, he straight up says “the Revolution will be televised, y’all just chose the wrong guy”.
All of us on this site disagrees, and most of the halftime show made sense to me after watching it a second time on YouTube, but the message he’s trying to send is very much a leftist one
Are you one of the zoomers that takes Kendrick seriously?
Am I a leftist, no. Do I understand what he’s saying because I grew up around rap and like some of his music, yes.
He has some ok songs. He's not that impressive compared to rap greats though. Weakest part of the last halftime show he was in.
