The main problem with what Kendrick did is that I can't understand him. I cannot understand the words coming out of his mouth.
Obviously this was supposed to be some deconstruction of America with Samuel L. Jackson in the Uncle Sam hat and the black supremacist thing (likely conceived for a Harris presidency), but it's impossible for me to have a reaction. Even when I can make out what the dude is spluttering I don't get the references.
Apparently nobody else in the stadium did either because all the crowd shots are people standing around confused.
I don't think it was planned for a Harris presidency. But Jackson being dressed like that saying Kendrick was too ghetto was definitely a message
Kendrick Lamar is a cookie-cutter mainstream rapper with a BLM chip on his shoulder. They probably specified that Jackson had to say that in order to boost Kendrick's stage presence.
It absolutely wasn’t.
In fact, towards the end, after NLU, he straight up says “the Revolution will be televised, y’all just chose the wrong guy”.
All of us on this site disagrees, and most of the halftime show made sense to me after watching it a second time on YouTube, but the message he’s trying to send is very much a leftist one
Are you one of the zoomers that takes Kendrick seriously?
Am I a leftist, no. Do I understand what he’s saying because I grew up around rap and like some of his music, yes.
He has some ok songs. He's not that impressive compared to rap greats though. Weakest part of the last halftime show he was in.
