I mean really, what else am I supposed to say? These people are insulated against social pressure and the legal systems of the world can't really do shit against them. They're just bad people who have maneuvered themselves into a position where no one can offer them consequences for the evil deeds they do without going outside the law.
It's odd, a couple of insurance companies had policies going into place that were very anti consumer. Now they are all simultaneously reversing those policies. Very curious.
The only thing I’ve seen in the news lately is that Aetna is going to stop covering anesthesia if it goes beyond the allotted timeframe.not exactly consumer friendly.
Ken Akamatsu, the mangaka of Love Hina and Negima! series', successfully was elected on the platform of protecting creative freedom in Japanese culture (especially anime, manga and games).
I don't know what he has done so far, but this type of stuff in his purview and others that successfully pushed otaku angles in their electoral candidacy. I hope they do their jobs; DLSite, DMM/Fanza, and others are some that have not bent yet (hopefully never), despite the pressure among numerous angles including alternative credit cards and PayPal.
Why the fuck do they think they have the right to interfere in other people's countries?
And how the fuck does being a hands-off payment facilitator, part of a duopology that nobody sane ever blames for anything (though I imagine leftists contact them when they go down their list of methods to get things cancelled), endanger their brand at all? It's obviously a nonsense excuse so they can engage in the aforementioned interfering.
It's simple, bankers believe they own the world and can do as they please with it. The best metaphor I've seen for this viewpoint is Minecraft. That is, they see themselves as the player, the world as their playground, and anyone who opposes them as hostile mobs who are to be dealt with without any empathy.
This'll only be solved if there is a banking service outside the current monopoly.
Given Japan's current situation, I can see crypto being the best solution for them right now, their currency has too many issues and it'll be outside the control of the likes of VISA. Plus thanks to some within Trump's administration, it'll be heavily supported.
there really needs to be a section 230 for the financial industry. something along the lines of:
"A financial institution which simply processes all transactions, and neither endorses nor condemns anything related to the transactions they process, she'll only be responsible for completing the transaction accurately. Such an institution shall never be held liable for anything other than the money itself."
Such a mechanism would ensure a market free of creditor meddling, and neuter their ability to be evil overlords.
Ah yes, as it has ensured Youtube and other social media be free and uncensored.
What we need is the exact opposite. You only get to be not held responsible for what your users/customers do, if you do not, at any point block something that was not explicitly illegal. If it happens once, your CEO and other staff go to prison for every single crime that was committed by one of your users/customers.
They are about 10 years late on this train. The "twitter manga" industry is already off to a running start and pumping out mountains of products, a few of which become fairly big hits on their own.
If the "standard industry" becomes fully censored, then the parts that people can't put out will simply phase that way and leave the "Mainstream Anime/Manga" to be random shounen/isekai slop.
Its literally the most pro-pirate, anti-corporation market in the world. Most of its fanbase only exists on non-official, volunteer products. Attempting to control it will just drive it further from the light and what control they already might have on it.
I'm glad the mask has finally came off from the other group of the MC/Visa duopoly and they're openly admitting that they're engaging in International Economic Terrorism.
This smells like violation of international treaties and the end result here will probably be Japan shunting VISA from the country entirely unless financial zaibatsu like Mitsui and Sumitomo are in on this.
Any alternatives are out of the question though, most Apple Pay style systems are region-locked. JCB already pulled out of the United States before the USA installed those laws for bankers/PPs to apply US law to foreign countries for financial transactions. So Japan will probably become isolationist over this stuff.
Insert rule 2 violation here.

Something something UnitedHealthcare.

What’s being reversed?
The only thing I’ve seen in the news lately is that Aetna is going to stop covering anesthesia if it goes beyond the allotted timeframe.not exactly consumer friendly.
Reversing anesthetic time limit.

This stunt only legitimizes techbros and their bitcoins. Dumb thing to do.

"Adults should only be able to buy the things I want them to because I know better."
So you're like, banning porn?
"No, I'm not banning porn, just cartoons and comics."
"... stop laughing at me."
It only took them ten years from the launch of "Everywhere you wanna be" to "You can't buy those things with this card"
Meanwhile you can use Visa to pay for all sorts of hardcore buttfucking tranny porn.

I meant for the inverse of the law to be implied. If you meddle in business, you lose protection.
Fair enough.

So it went from them censoring what kinda hentai or porn they can sell, to censoring general anime and manga?
