POE was good but POE2 was meh
There is no reason to expect Obsidian to do anything good
They made New Vegas. Since then, I think their only good game was the half finished Tyranny.

It's such a shame to see yet another formerly great Western RPG dev go down the toilet, Obsidian was really holding the line for a minute.
I was thinking that maybe some people (of those who are still surprised) haven't played/don't remember Outer Worlds. The signs were already there, strong women CEOs with courageous haircuts everywhere, needing no one's help (except the player's); a lot of men were, if not just incompetent, evil or both; etc.
They snuck in pronouns and didn’t let early reviewers go through the character creator.
One screenshot of the characters was all it took when I first saw this game to know that it was made for the unicorn market.
Best of luck to them in their search for a job as baristas next year.
If that happens, then Microsoft went under or has an Elon Musk style take over. If either happens, it’ll be hilarious to watch.
That's my thought too, I mean even if I could race swap or whatever, they are just ugly. I don't notice off hand anything politically wrong with that Dwarf it is just unappealing.
Microsoft told content creators not to show the character creator -- as others mentioned here -- because it contained pronouns and the typical subversive character creation options we see in other woke games.
All the youtube previewers tried to play it off that it was "unfinished" and that "there were spoilers". But we all know that is a lie. If the character creator was unfinished Microsoft simply could have put up in bold words "work in progress" and had YouTubers post a disclaimer saying it was unfinished. Boom. Problem solved.
Additionally, one of the leaders of some mercenary guild in the game is of course a woman, and she literally looks like a dude, wearing full blown male armour with male proportions. And as others pointed out, no straight white male companions.
That's not to mention that the gameplay looks dated as heck, and there is absolutely nothing original looking about the game. It has clunky, janky gameplay,which looks especially awful coming off of amazing looking games made in the exact same engine, like Black Myth Wukong... from a Chinese indie studio of all places. And the graphics also look washed out yet over-saturated, so it has this blurry, disjointed, uncanny valley look. It reminds me a lot of that other awful DEI game, Immortals of Aveum, yet seems even more washed out.
Basically, it reeks of being designed by DEI hires.

Those characters look straight out of Concord.
Fantasy first person rpg is basically my preferred genre, but I have no interest in this game.
Something about black dwarf + black woman + green/blue man + ugly pink pixie thing just makes it instantaneously obvious. None of these characters look charming or interesting at all, I don't want to know more about a single one of those things.
That is how I keep feeling with a lot of these games, where in the past I may still be interested in a game or character but the wokeness pushes me away. Now I can look at every character in Veilguard and not even be slightly interested in their thoughts, story, voice acting, really anything. But it doesn't even help that they are all so dogshit as well.
It eventually turns into judging the book by its cover, but after you have seen that same style of cover 10,000 times, is it still a mistake to do so?
When I see something like that, I interpret them as thinly veiled self-inserts into the game. There’s some danger hair at the studio who wanted a danger haired character in the game.
Agreed for sure, my guess is its the pink haired creature of one of the trannies that works there.
The black dwarf is there for tokenism, the black/dark skinned woman lead same deal, possible self insert, and blue guy is for a tiny bit of coverage on "we like guys too" sort of shit.
These characters almost could be in Concord, if you just gave them ugly sci-fi gear instead of ugly fantasy gear. It’s that bad.

Good to know I would have likely never gotten one of these jobs at one of these places being a straight white male. Makes me feel a little better about that bachelors I never finished or not getting a role in the field somewhere.

Writing was on the wall for Obsidian ideologically since POE2 at least. Josh Sawyer is all-in on progressive ideology too and keeps throwing his hat into the ring for woke twitter spats, but when I tried to refresh my memory just now all I got were dead unarchived URLs of scrubbed tweets, the weasel.
I wonder if they'll have a long preachy quest chain for one of your companions where you "explore" how she's asexual but she actually wants a lesbian relationship with someone else and you sit there guiding her through what to do as she goes on dates.
That was so immersive in Outer Worlds, I can't wait to see it here.

Those extremely dark shadows are off-putting. There should be more ambient lightning in a scene like that.
If you think PoE was anything but a trash franchise starting from the last act of PoE through the entirety of PoE2, all I can say is you need to recalibrate your propaganda radars. Avowed will be even worse and it's not even an RPG.

The dwarf and woman look fine. Nothing special, but fine. The soldier guy is incredibly uninteresting for some kind of merfolk, and the halfling is rather ugly. None of them are so exceptional that having them as companions would be a selling point.
I remember hearing that this will be more massive than Skyrim. I guess if people I see good reviews from trusted sources I’ll check it out
