Translation: They've already decided to replace the current Dem plant with another Dem plant and don't want to be accountable for the coming disaster. McConnell is gonna have his hand up the new guy's ass and continue botching things.

I have a feeling the Evil Uniparty Turtle is going to win this one. The only way to thwart it is for J.D. Vance to exercise his position as President of the Senate make Cornyn sit at the kiddie table.

It'll be tedious but we need to break the uniparty's back once and for all.

This is the influence of Mitch McConnell in action; quite a few names in the Senate owe their office to McConnell, so they will do McConnell's bidding when their strings are jerked.

The GOPe machine badly, desperately wants one of their own as Majority Leader, because this is how they insulated the Deep State from Trump last time. McConnell was the architect behind why many of the things Trump wanted to do didn't get done.

Why is this even legal?

Because they didn't think they'd need to add any exceptions when writing the part of the Constitution that gives both chambers of Congress authority to set up their own rules and procedures.

The true destruction of States being separate political entities came when the Senate was changed from appointed, to directly elected. The States no longer have federal representation as an entity, now it's just the people (House), and the people, but smaller (Senate).

UPenn is an Ivy League school, but I get your point overall that Trump didn’t come from old money

IIRC, the Senate was originally appointed not elected.

When the whole foundation of thing is about patronage, you aren't as concerned about transparency and voting records.

The only reason to do this is to vote for a Swamp Crookodile.

You get what you vote for. You voted for the lesser evil, you get evil.

What is even the point of this comment besides being smug?

So... Vote for the greater evil? That gets even more evil, my friend. Simple math there.

In order for a replacement for the republican party to occur, the republican party must be destroyed. You aren't gonna destroy them by voting for them.

Stop voting for evil, and you might actually get some good.

The simple math is you voting for republican puts people like Trump, Nixon, Regan, McConnell, and Graham into power.

There are only two good republicans that I know of, Rand Paul, and Thomas Massie. That is 2 out of 270 republicans in Congress and the Presidency. Less than 1% of republicans are worth a damn. There is your simple math.

They don't want Ron Paul running the senate, but that's exactly who needs to be there.
