Wait Darth Vader and General Solomon from Tiberium Sun is gone, shit there goes my happy day. Requiescat in pace.
Are you lamenting like the women? Go crush your enemies, drive them before you. That's what's best in life.
No wailing necessary to knock one back in honor of a fallen brother though. Cheers.
Mufasa in the good version of The Lion King too.
Fuck.
I completely forgot he was in C&C.
GOD DAMN IT Mac!
I think I might have to start playing this again. I was trying to play through the original Command & Conquer, and go through all the timelines, but the first game sure is a slog. Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 really pushed the franchise forward.
Tiberium Sun was my first C&C game (my first Westwood game was Dune 2000) and loved the campaign playing as McNeil or Anton, the music, cutscenes with the right amount of seriousness and cheese.
Did prefer the GDI campaign just because starting missions to valves with EVA announcing reinforcements coming by dropships delivering Titans and troops was badass to me.
Need to get this game
Indeed. It's sad to see many of these great icons die, as it's becoming harder to find anything to replace them.
RIP, man.
RIP. Loved you as Vader and on the first Simpsons Halloween episode
It's amazing that the best adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" remains unironically a five-minute cartoon starring Darth Vader and Homer Simpson.
Yes. That was a great reading. Loved it
The bit with the clouds is pretty memorable.
And I loved how he said Kimba first. Also learned about Carole King thanks to that episode
I don't watch "The Simpsons" but whenever I see those early year episodes they slip on like old comfortable pants.
I still watch. It’s like something I can’t give up lol
I get that. They've been on most of your life, they are kinda habitual
So true. 1st episode aired when I was in 3rd grade and I’m now 43 and it is still on
Old TV had enough respect for the audience to drop in references like that and assume they'd either know or ask someone who did.
The thing about good writing like on those Simpsons episodes is that catching a reference or background detail would often enhance the joke, but even if you didn’t catch everything the main bits were still strong on their own.
That scene in Clear and Present Danger when Harrison Ford visits him in the hospital basically describes this whole board.
Very good. I don't recall that scene at all but that is the one of those three film I have seen the least.
RIP one of the most iconic voices of wisdom and power
If the current voice acting wokeness of making sure the character is being voiced by someone of same skin color and sexual orientation was predominant.. this guy would not have been able to voive darth.
That's the part that's getting kinda black-pill for me. There's a bunch of non-white icons of American history, but many of them are older folks from an era that is dead, and they too are passing away.
James Earl Jones was one of em. You didn't give a fuck that he was black. You gave a fuck because his voice was deep and powerful and gave character and life to media. Darth Vader would not have been as frightening and imposing if he was voiced by ANY other man.
idk about you guys but I can't think of someone like him who's in their 20's-40's that is as iconic as he was. Every black person who is an actor in that age range is an insufferable left wing BLM cuck.
Its like that other black dude, roscoe lee brown, that voiced king pin in the 1990s spiderman cartoon.
I had no idea he was the King Pin, and he did it well. Peak "villain voice" material.
they also dont forget what "acting" is. if a straight person can act as a convincing gay person, thats good acting. getting a gay person to act as a gay person is boring.
He signed away his Darth Vader voice to be used in AI forever, setting the stage for the complete demolition of the entire voiceover profession.
Thanks, James!
He really was a major part of pop culture iny life and showed up in weird things. I can't remember which one, but he was in a horror movie and explained how to defeat the demon. It was really cool.
F
Here is a more esoteric movie of his, "Best of the Best". He is really enjoyable as the hard ass but later gets to be funny in the end.
Had a good lesser known movie called The Reading Room
Pour one out for a great talent.
Everyone knows him as Darth Vader, but I remember him from The Talking Parcel, a strange but endearing tale from a bygone age.
The best thing CNN ever had going for them
Yall niggas forgetting my boy in Conan. One of his best roles by far.
Voiced one of the greatest heroes in fiction and voiced the greatest villain too, RIP to a voice acting legend.
James Earl Jones owns one of like five Walther WA2000s that were imported into the country. By far one of the most stylish rifles ever made. It looks like something sexy you'd see in a cyberpunk game where guns for the elites are fashion statements.
jaffa! i am unas, the first one. KILL THE HUMAN, and we will feast... together.
More than Vader, he was Thusla Doom for me.
