So....you going to do anything about as I'd LOVE YouTube to be forced to be independent from Google...

Me too. Youtube turned to shit pretty much not long after google acquired them. Hell. Youtube is a monopoly on video platforms. Its literally propped up by google and search engines mostly only suggest youtube first before anything.

Purging you say?

I think YouTube would run SO much better if they did an Elon style purge, along with ALL tech companies and ALL governments if they did the same.

The harder stuff would be purging the pedos as the history of YouTube Kids app shows how they are such a problem that YouTube tries to bury it than deal with it.

I think a couple of senators put that on the table.

I guess that would be good, but I imagine globohomo still runs the place.

The answer depends if you are in Palestine or not.

Almost certainly.

Wake me up when something will be done about it. Google will either appeal and win or they'll pay a minimal government bribe fine and keep going like nothing happened.

All while Google search engine actively seeks to hide information in searches. I may never understand how such a terrible utility became so popular. If you are still using Google (or it's adscent affiliates: brave, ddg, mojeek, etc.), do yourself a favor and switch to a search engine that doesn't hide information.

I should probably point out there is concern that the Russian government might be controlling Yandex due to it's size.

Doesn't seem like something we'll be able to get away from. Our gov't definitely controls search engines, so it's quite likely there's at least some involvement. The key difference, to me at least, is that one of them makes a serious effort to restrict available information and the other doesn't.

Well yeah, I don't think anyone disputes that.

IIRC the idea is that Google's mechanisms of being able to prevent users from easily accessing other applications, and contracting with other IT companies to guarantee that they were default (in the way that Microsoft got fucked over with IE back in the day) was applied here.

I'm not a fan of anti-trust legislation; but Alphabet goes out of it's way to prevent users from knowing how to work around their systems.

Windows 11 is so incredibly shit it’s barely usable, lol…

And I’ve largely had that experience across different hardware sets, so I blame the OS, at this point.

Unfortunately “going back” to Windows 10 isn’t really an option, on my current set-up, so I’m largely stuck with it.

It’s very frustrating, to say the least…

So, whose palm isn't getting greased by Google? Congress critters only care about antitrust when corpos aren't making enough "donations" or "lobbying".
