So HotD, as its fans apparently call it, has been low-key cringe for quite a while now. While it is not wholly lacking in virtue, it has done its fair share of pandering to the crazies. The season finale, which I was stupid enough to watch, brought things to a new level.
They brought on a GUY IN A DRESS to play an actual woman. With all their CGI and sound transforming technology, I could immediately tell that something ain't right. And once I figured out the character's name, it turns out she was played by... a bloke who presents a Youtube channel called Philosophy Tube. He looks like this. His name is Oliver Thorn, and he masquerades as Abigail Thorn. Don't you love the names that these cross-dressers pick - the "it's ma'am" fellow called himself "Tiffany", because of course.
Suffice it to say that """"""""SHE"""""""" was flirting with a guy, saying that he has good genes, and that """she""" wants his babies... and that he should therefore lie with """her""" wives. What? I thought: well yeah, you're a bloke - you can't get pregnant, but you do have wives.
It's just a ****show as well as a **** show.
Why am I telling you this? Misery loves company, I guess?
They had a dream scene with a dude eating out his mom.
The entire series is two strong women being mislead by the war hawk men around them. It's a shitty show with bad writing and terrible pacing
I generally enjoyed season 1 but that was my biggest fear about the future of the show. The writers were just going to reduce this bloody, tragic, complicated civil war into two blameless women being let down by all the men in their lives.
Yeah I don't remember specifics, but I started the first episode of the series and noped out within 5 minutes.
I tried watching the first episode, started crying laughing at the black guy in a white wig then quit when the wahmening became egregious right after.
Anyone that had hope for the show after the casting was niggerized is a moron. It’s like dating someone who has terminal cancer and then being heart broken when they die.
The notoriously inbred Targaryens being half Heart of Darkness extras in this show is really funny.
The black family aren't the Targs they are the Velaryons. They are an ancient Valeyrian house closely related to the Targs. They also aren't black outside of the HOTD show. And the Valaryons in the show are very protective of their bloodline. Of course because of the race swap them protecting their bloodline isn't seen as bad. The white Targs protecting their line is bad. It's the same anti-white bullshit.
It's kinda funny and tragic because there's a fair amount of black background players and in GOT there's no black Westorisi. So one wonders where them black people went
I'm amazed GoT had any fans left after the end of the first series. What part of that colossal clusterfuck of shit made you think this would be any good?
Even GRRM can't write himself out of the corner he's written himself into, with the main series. After the Red Wedding the central plot thread tying everything else together was snipped, and that central plot thread was based on the War of the Roses. Imagine if during WW2 the Allies had figured out a way to just assassinate the leaders of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan. All the other adjacent conflicts would have still persisted, but mostly independently of one another. Whereas GRRM is in the position of having to tie everything back together, despite the fact that he severed the cord that was tying everything together.
Moreover, constructing plots that are both plausible but not based on real situations is really hard to do. It's like trying to construct fictional characters with no resemblance to any real people, or to world-build settings with no resemblance to any real places. GRRM's great trick was realizing that a high fantasy setting allows you the freedom to do historical fiction, but without the constraints of having to make things consistent with real history. But by snipping the main cord, it's next to impossible to come up with a way to continue tying everything together that's actually plausible.
Whereas House of the Dragon didn't place the writers in an impossible situation. They already had a good plot outline to work with, and a good writer could have really cooked with it. But of course, the writers are shit, so they took good ingredients and managed to make something vomit-worthy.
Dragons, people like dragons. Honestly the GOT universe went from a fantasy lover's niche to a hipster's product. It's why they play episodes at their shitty progressive bars and record reactions. They gentrified the fandom, haha.
Although dragons aren't real, flamethrowers are.
Something about being reminded of the existence of hipsters made me think of flamethrowers for some reason.
The even more hilariously sad part of all this is Oliver Thorn basically simped for ContraPoints so hard that he decided to become a Wishdotcom version of CP. So they didn't even get the original pseudo-intellectual AGP creep who appropriated fag culture for his "video essays," they got the knock-off. And since CP is a knock-off "woman," that makes Oli playing dress up a knock-off of a knock-off.
Agreed. Like the D&D movie, Arcane - HotD is woke feminist trash and I strongly disagree with CriticalDrinker et al about how good it is. I guess they have to be seen to like some things otherwise they would look like negative Nancies all the time.
It's ok to hate woke. No need to worry about optics. Feminists worry about optics, we should care more for truth.
They do? Can't say I noticed. Their speech is as unpleasant as their faces and body types are to look at.
The usual anti-woke critics have loved HotD (I don't watch it), but recent talk says it ended the season EXTREMELY poorly. I didn't hear the details, but if that was the reason... oh lord.
I don't even mind that they give it their stamp of approval, but the terms they use in approval is quite disturbing. Critical Drinker calls it (or Dune, don't remember) 'excellent', which they most certainly are not. It is just an indication of how far our standards have fallen.
To be fair, you do need to have a very high IQ to refuse to watch House of the Dragon, because it's absolute crap.
And I say that without the slightest irony.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaah... I have bad news. That wasn't the reason. It was just the icing on the sh*t sandwich.
As far as Dune went, everyone had the caveat-
- except Chani. Fuck Zendaya.
I have some criticisms of Dune unrelated to Zendaya - and even Zendaya had her moments. Dune 2 at least.
What's up with the races? Why are half of basically Bedouin people black? What's up with 'the fundamentalists in the South'? And what's up with people who supposedly speak a sort of Arabic as their native language having the most obnoxious US-coastal accent?
All in all, I'd give it a passing grade, though just barely. The fact that we label such crap as 'excellent' shows how far our standards have declined. You can watch a run-of-the-mill movie from 20 years ago that is better, like Johnny English, and you don't have wokeness shoved down your throat either.
The number of people whom consider the new Dune movie such a wonder-watch depress the absolute fuck out of me.
I shouldn't be surprised. I doubt 90% of the people masturbating about said movie have actually sat down and, y'know, read the fucking book.
The first movie cemented my opinion that the director's knowledge of the Dune universe is a very, very wide puddle - impressive looking at the outside, but immediately goes dry the moment you jump into it. Yet, here we are, people loosing their minds over how supposedly awesome it is.
Arabs aren't diverse enough, "diversity" really just means black nowadays.
Even with real history that's the case, like with black (and Baizuo) Americans calling Egyptians racist for having a problem with a "documentary" that lies about Cleopatra being black.
Thats Because most Arabs are black. Muslims love to pretend they are white as a trick to get the local populations to accept them.
That's one of the most retarded things I've ever read, congratulations.
Comment Reported for: Rule 1 - Illegal Activity
No... but, uh, Arabs aren't black...
Yeah, definitely. It kinda makes me want to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (34 years old) again.
You heard accents in Dune? I couldn't hear anyone talking. I mean it makes sense noise attracts worms, but trying to hear that movie is impossible
I couldn't hear all the worm and engine noise over those insufferable accents of Zendaya and Chamelet (who should be stripped of his French last name as he's clearly undeserving of it).
I couldn't hear half the dialog of the movie.
I know this is a broken record to repeat this sentiment yet again, but that was always the point of this elongated battle of attrition waged by the Lefties.
The Overtone Window keeps on inching Left. The amount of people who fawn over that League of Legends animated show on Netflix -- and other such similar fare that heavily push feminist ideology and homosexual ideology -- showcases that people will outwardly reject the more broad strokes from woke companies like Disney (e.g., The Acolyte, The Marvels) but will gladly accept substitutes of a lesser grievance (e.g., HotD, The Boys, League of Legends anime, etc.).
In a few years the so-called "anti-woke" content creator/influencer crowd will be castigating anyone who isn't on-board with whatever homosexual, feminist, anti-Christian, misandrist drivel that a large network (or networks) has put out that passes their very low bar for acceptable quality of entertainment.
I can't believe anyone would even waste their time even CONSIDERING hotd after the travesty of game of thrones. DEAD FRANCHISE.
I noped out the show as soon I saw pictures of niggers with blonde dreads.
Boy did they look stupid.
My personal favorite running complaint about it is "those giant pearly white teeth look so out of place!" Which is absolutely valid, and has been a pet peeve of mine my entire life because I am clearly autistic.
But that fact that this is when people turn out by the droves to complain about it shows that they absolutely want to rant about how awful it was and how fucked up this tranny is in it but they know they can't do that and even treading close to it might get them in trouble for a misplaced word.
So instead they are grandstanding on every single thing, some valid some wild, to dance around the horse in the room.
Both names historically associated with women being absolute nutcases. The famous crazy/hot chart video listed "any girl named Tiffany" as too dangerous for a reason. So its actually quite fitting that the trannies pick names that we know not to trust from regular women too.
And it works most times. Either by being just enough to be a red flag, or being something so try hard and overspelled you'd only find it on a negress or BPD hoe.
It could have picked the name Lilith Cassandra and been more explicit.
I know Ryan Kinel, Nerdrotic, Drinker, and Mauler thought highly of season one. I’ll buy the book used eventually along with used Dunk and Egg because i refuse to support GRRM til he finishes Ice and Fire
The part that says "til [Fat Bastard] finishes Ice and Fire" is redundant.
But as far as I know, the book is OK. That's why they had to twist so many things. However, the whole story is about a "woman's right to the throne", which one may find woke-coded.
It's only like 5 pages in Fire & Blood. When GOT was on they made animated segments explaining the history of Westeros. Look for those on YouTube it's less than 20 minutes and you will have the full story, with boycott intact
Thanks! Dunk and Egg worth the read?
I've never read the Dunk and Egg stuff
Dunk and Egg are pretty decent. Mostly because each one is independent from each other. Each book is a like a snapshot of a specific point their adventures.
This is a big win for the trender movement. The show is going to end with season 4, which may be the reason why they're doubling down on the left-liberal insanity.
GoT got bad at the end. You could tell.
HOTD was awesome, not sure what you're going on about.

Please explain why it is 'awesome' despite the points I mentioned.
I can understand if you label it as 'barely passable', which is more than you can say of the bloke in the dress, but awesome?
The guy you’re replying to is being a little bit obtuse about his bit, but it’s also obvious you clicked on neither of the links he supplied as explanation of the bit.
