Criticize the media narrative? One billion dollars.

Blatantly commit negligent murder in camera? Clearly you've suffered enough.

The judiciary is the enemy.

If Trump did the same thing, California would bring back the death penalty and hit him with first degree murder charges.

Not at all surprising tho

I guess the DA got a fat check. No way she fucked up this badly by accident.

Throw in the Democrat bonus and you can freely kill people without repercussions. Everyone's happy to let a killer walk free on a technicality.

Not necessarily. The fact is that prosecutors and cops pull this kind of shit all the time. The real outrage here is the question of how many people have been in Alec Baldwin's position but didn't have his profile and couldn't afford the high-powered attorneys who are knowledgeable enough to pounce on this kind of impropriety? How many of those people were, unlike Baldwin, actually innocent, but were railroaded anyway by a justice system that lets police and prosecutors get away with routinely violating the law in order to secure a conviction?

This is the key point. Look at all the shit Slick Willy and Bathhouse Barry have been getting away with.

Honestly, anyone who expected otherwise is almost as stupid as he is. It was clear from day 1 that if anyone was going to get charged it was the armorer girl, and that was a stretch too because woman and connected to someone famous.

The only reason they drug it out this long was to let it fall out of the news cycle enough to keep up appearances of Hollywood not being above the law by keeping this on the Page 9 Retraction level.

That was a stretch because she wasn't the one who gave him the gun. It's the assistant director who should have been convicted, since he should never have touched the prop yet he was the one who handed a loaded gun to Baldwin.

Yes. Wtf were live bullets doing ANYWHERE near a movie set?

Though really they should have long ago switched to leaded guns with effects totally done in post. Sure, it might not be "the same", but wtf, at least you wouldn't have this shit happening every couple of decades or so.

Not to mention the idiot who thought blanks were harmless, and blew his brains out with one. I was in cadets at the time, we got the most intense lecture about that the following Saturday from our range officer ...

Of course. Can't have the D elite accountable, even for murder.

The most surprising thing about this murder really is that Badlwin got charged at all.

Charged dismissed and cannot be filed against based on dubious technicality. I don't think the judge is being honest about it because it's so ridiculous.

Apparently the armorer who handeled the gun before Baldwin got 18 months in prison ( and is going to appeal ).

lol they're so desperate to get people to hate Trump, they had to get the charges dropped on Baldwin so he could do shitty SNL sketches again.

The evidence that sank the case, revealed during the trial's second day of testimony Thursday, was the existence of ammunition that was brought into the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office in March by a man who said it could be related to Hutchins' killing. Prosecutors said they deemed the ammo unrelated and unimportant, while Baldwin's lawyers alleged they “buried” it. The defense filed one of many motions they had made to dismiss the case over evidence issues. All the others were rejected. But this one took.

So the Defense just sprayed and prayed and for some reason this one worked?

No, the judge got her marching orders and threw the case out over any excuse that was left.

You raise as many motions as possible to dismiss a case. That's normal. If argument A doesn't work, then you go to arhument B and so on. And to save everyone time many jurisdictions require you to make all your initial pleas to dismiss the case at once. Then whichever the judge deems to have merit move forward. (Exceptions being newly discovered evidence, precedent being set in similar higher courts, etc.)
