How the fuck are they at a loss when GTA V is STILL played as much as it is? That takes some groundbreaking incompetence when all they need to do is make that still be fun.

For fuck sake, even the community TELLS you what to do with one the guys I'm subscribed to telling you at a code level how to improve things.

iirc they fucked up the economy a while back with one of the heists. It used to be a horrible grindfest to earn the millions required into playing with the new content they would release.

Theres no need now to buy shark cards to skip the grind when you can just play for a couple of hours to do the heist and then get access to it all.

I'd say that's more a symptom of how unbalanced the game has become.

There are probably 10 to 20 vehicles and just around 10 buildings that are must owns in the game because they are so powerful. You only need to grind a few heists to get the money for them.

If they balanced the game more to make EVERY vehicle worthwhile to get from making every non weaponised car able to get armour and lock-on immunity upgrades to making the rep grind on Arena wars less torturous, you might get more sales of shark cards because you'll get some people so inpatient having fun they'll drop a few dollars to skip grinding.

It isn't even justifying it, it's basic human psychology.

The more people are satisfied and happy with their surroundings, the less they worry about spending money. Just look at how everything from casinos to supermarkets are set up.

What we are witnessing is developers being so incompetent with once fun games that players feel obliged to withhold money, simple as.

It's kinda funny, they had the opportunity to make some guaranteed money with KSP2, but they fucked up so bad that the game is one of the worst rated games on steam. Part of it was that they gave it to the retards at UberEnt. All they had to do was make KSP but with more efficient graphics. Instead they made it with horrendously unplayable fps and only a fraction of the rocket parts.

I'm glad I stayed away from it. It was obvious what the results would be just based on the publisher and developers.

That's because the new devs are made up of faggots and women. It reminds me of when DICE went "diverse" and all their Swedish engineers left to go make The Finals, and the Nu-DICE had no idea how to optimise or improve or maintain Frostbite, so Battlefield 2042 ended up with less features, destruction, and visual polish than Battlefield 4.
