Forgive me if I don’t believe any survey regarding women in traditionally male hobbies. Like the one when the MCU was popular showing almost 50% of women read comic books when all that meant was they had seen a marvel movie

Everyone knows female gamers are essential for the profit of many games!…. Like candy crush

Exactly

Hell, to follow up on this, I think that a study that actually goes into the types of games men like vs what women like would reveal such a discrepancy between two different markets - namely, it would reveal that women are more likely to play mobile games (both more than non-mobile centric women and men).

Yea I’ve seen the breakdown that shows exactly that men and women tend to play different games. If only they would use those results and market accordingly

I'd like to see a study on how much women spend on mobile games compared to how much men spend rolling for jpegs in gachashit.

Yes, this is exactly how they are. They just say shit, no matter how dumb or untrue. I took the final exam for my CPA 2 weeks ago and it’s even permeated accountancy.

“Everyone knows companies who adopt ESG reporting gain significant profitability😊”

Yeah... I’ll have to check in with Bud light and Disney on how that’s going 😒👍

My favorite is still the percentage of gamers one. Because having Candy Crush installed on your phone in 2010 totes makes someone a gamer.

Just like a lady wearing a Spider-Man t shirt means that comic industry should ignore who buys comics and market to her

While taking great pains to alienate their core audience along the way.

Exactly. God forbid men enjoy a hobby

When they say that 50% of consoles purchased were +30 year old women. But they dont mention.. majority are just mothers buying a console for her son lol.

As far as I can tell, women and wives have always had control of about 80% of the household discretionary budget. This is why advertising (by a huge margin) aimed at women.

Fat people, being 70% of the country, are the actually most underrepresented demographic by far. All the overweight transbians in indie video games disappear in the realm of live action movies and TV. And honestly I don't think they'll ever see any more representation. It's just a bridge too far.

Especially when you consider representation by volume or mass. Then they're probably 90%.

Honestly, I would love a game where a horribly out of shape person tried to save the world. It would be way more intense because my character will not outrun a gerbil let alone a crashing plane. I doubt that's what people talking want though.

...actually, you could make a game like that with the right mechanics...

I think san andreas had something similar, though you started out pretty much neutral...

San Andreas had 500 games in one. I would love an updated gangland war territory game with monsters attacking each area.

...I was gonna say look for san andreas mods, and then I got to imagining a godzilla mod for gta... xD

I'm playing a fat Godzilla?

imagine playing gta, but godzilla randomly attacks while you're running around doing missions.

Watching your character physically change over time as they pushed themselves to the limit with grueling exercise would be an amazing mechanic.

Start as Ugly Alloy. Enter the final fight as Hot Alloy.

GTA San Andreas did this years ago. You could pig out on fast food and Carl would get chonk. Conversely you could work out at a gym, or even just cycle a lot, and lose that weight. Sure the timeline was heavily reduced so it wasn't going to take literal weeks and months to change but it's still something that's been done before and could likely be done now if devs gave a shit.

The most amusing thing was how fat CJ had his own lines of dialogue for random events and insults. "IMMA EAT YOU FOOL!" He also had custom lines for different styles of clothing, like if you dressed rich vs gangsta. It goes by a lot of players unnoticed but I love attention to detail like that in games.

Immersion matters. Leave it to them to ignore the guidelines for creating a work of fiction.

Immersion matters

With that amount of body mass it's not going to be difficult to immerse.

or submerge for that matter.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼

Submerge is an synonym of immerse.

▲ 4 ▼
– Vivs3rdSock 4 points 2 years ago +4 / -0

Yes, that was the joke. As another reply points out "immerse" and "submerge" mean the same thing, I just wanted to refer directly to the word choice used by Constipatriot.

excruciatingly small sample size here, but the one female gamer I pay any attention to doesn't really seem to care, she just plays whatever interests her. She seems to be more interested in story than 'representation.'

keep in mind she's mildly woke.
