90% off so you buy the sequel.
I wonder if they ever fixed the PC port for the sequel. I remember hearing it was totally fucked.
I bought the Sequel at the last sale. They have fixed most problems, still I had few crashes sometimes. But it wasn't too bad.
However, I've a high end PC; therefore no idea how it runs on middle and below.
The bundle for both is only ~$1 (Canadian) more than Survivor by itself (55% off, 60% for deluxe): https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/33658/STAR_WARS_Jedi_Bundle/
Don't think I'll bother with the sequel but $5.50 TrudeauBucks for a game where I can get the updates (which is often an issue with yargh matey-ing stuff) isn't bad for what seems to be good game.
EA Origin has to be running in the background while you play
That's the rub.
Yeah I noticed that. Unfortunately my private tracker isn't that good for updates these days- their version doesn't even have the Nov 18 2019 update with it. Lots of comments about bugginess and I try to avoid TPB & other public trackers as much as possible.
It's a good game if you can stand Debra Wilson, who everyone complains about. Her character is tolerable in this series since they don't make a thing out of her race at all. The game is fun, though some of the maps get annoying if you're going for 100%. BD-1 is a bro.
Wayyy worse in the second one despite significantly less screen time
Yeah but at least she has an arc through the series and it comes to an end. It's more about the lasting impact on Cal Kestis than herself.
I would be out, if I wasn't already because fuck EA. I will never forgive them for what they did to Visceral.
Just about sums it up. It's a perfectly fine Star Wars game with fun exploration and good combat. I'd say it's a steal for 90% off.
Neither the first game nor the second felt woke to me. Not more than the og SW.
For those curious, since Steam isn't giving much detail...
Deluxe Edition includes the following:
Also for those curious, and massive spoilers ahead if you've had the unfortunate luck...
The plot to this game is two things. First, it's generally well liked, so that's a plus. Second, it's literally directly lifed later for the Obi-Wan live action show. So if you saw that, for some insane reason, that's what you're going to get with this game.
This isn't a criticism of the game, it's a criticism of how fucking lazy Disney/Star Wars/live actions can be when fishing for plot to use because a lot of writers are that shit.
But then that's old hat to many here since the ending to Mass Effect 3, which was very front and center back during the original GG days, is literally the ending to Deus Ex from 2000. This was however largely overshadowed by the build up from all 3 games in the trilogy basically amounting to fuck all, as ME3's ending was not just a single issue complaint.
The game's not that old- 2019. Rare to see a 90% discount, is there something going on I'm not aware of or is that just a great deal??
They're trying to hook more people so that they'll pay full price for the sequel that came out last year.
If you haven't played it, you should. Story's not great, but mechanically it's a very good game.
They've actually got the sequel on sale too.
I feel like lightsaber withdrawal has really lowered people's standards. I gave it a shot for a few bucks despite all the peripheral cancer in the companies involved. And mechanically it's just felt like a passably acceptable game so far, nothing special. It's got some satisfying sound effects for a rather uninspiring combat system with ok but kinda janky timings/hitboxes. The group combat is bland and tedious and doesn't hold a candle to stuff like the classic Arkham games, and the boss fights are not nearly as polished as the mainline soulslike games or as entertaining as classic GoW fights.
It's not baaad, it just felt like a disproportionate amount of praise for a slightly-above-mid combat when I have a backlog of genuinely good games still to clear. This game's greatest relative strengths are it's cinematic storytelling and spectacle, except the writers are still current day underperforming babies and 5-minute walking sim interactive cutscenes bore me.
Not that rare to get a 5yo game for under $5.
I find even older AAA games rarely get above 80%
I’m in the minority on this one, but I thought both Jedi Survivor games looked janky as hell. Overly linear environments, toothless lightsaber combat, wonky animations and character modeling, mediocre story and characters. I guess extremely mid games can still be massively elevated by a popular license.
Yeah, I'm quite confused by all the comments here saying how "good" the game is.
It was from the edict that made it where lightsabers could no longer dismember, so none of the flashy, technical, devastating ligthsaber combat from Jedi Academy or Return of the Sith on PS2/Xbox is present in the newer games. I can't remember if it was LucasArts or Disney who said "no more dismemberment" in the games, but that was one of the dumbest rules they passed down. So combat in these new Jedi titles is like some wanker swinging around a toy bat that makes "whoom" noises but barely does any damage.
There is only one memorable stage and that's the ship junkyard, which actually had a very cool atmosphere, but wasn't explored much as it was just a set-piece for the tutorial and then it was on to lame dungeons and repetitive jungle areas.
I just don't get what people here see in these two Jedi games??? Kal is one of the lamest, soy-filled characters ever with zero personality, and it was obvious EA had him plastered as the lead as a sort of pittance to bring back the straight White gaming audience after they had a string of DEI-filled crap stinking up their digital libraries in recent years.
Maybe I'm just out of touch and missing something, but people giving any praise to these bland, mechanically-mediocre, soulless, by-the-numbers outings just makes it more depressing to see how gamers are just eating up derivative slop and thinking it's decent. There isn't one thing that these new Jedi games have done that wasn't already done better a decade or two earlier either with the Jedi Knight titles or the Star Wars Battlefront games.
I've been watching channels covering retro games from the 80s/90s and rekindling a lot of stuff I used to play back in the day, and it really hammers home just how far the industry fallen. Even the janky, broken, busted games like King's Quest VIII, Omikron and Messiah were still more enthusiastically designed and original than the qausi-polished AAA slop we get today.
Threw a few crumpled bucks at it just to see if I was being too jaded, and you're absolutely right.
It seems Star Wars has served up so much shitslop content lately that people are calling this stale ham sandwich of a game gourmet out of desperation.
The controls are a little rough for Fallen Order. They tightened it up nicely for the sequel.
it's a passable souls-like/metroidvania, but if you want to check it out i suggest sailing the high seas instead of paying for it

The game was very cheap in most sales for a while already.
I bought it for a similar price few years ago.
I mean it's 5 year olds at this point with a sequel.
I can highly recommend the game, I like it more than the second one and played through it 3 or 4 times already.
