I got two theories on this:

The first is that more and more of the establishments, elites and left's cults are getting exposed so they are trying to condition to not see cults as morally questionable as they should be.

The second is cults play into women's fucked up fantasies of losing control, being used, brainwashed etc so that's why there is so many.

women's fucked up fantasies of losing control, being used, brainwashed etc

It's. So. Fucking. Weird.

Man, I can't get over that weirdness.

And women have the nerve to be shocked that men think of the Roman Empire often.

Ask a woman how often she thinks of getting brainfucked into near nothingness.

Yeah, a lot of the fucked up role-playing stuff on the Internet are women's fantasies, I believe that it's a result of feminism.

They've been told to take charge, they don't need no man etc but because of that they lost some of the natural submissive outlets they had so they now fantasise about going even further to compensate.

Never forget that women write fucked up books and stories about men raping them and they like it.

Why do I feel like if I look up the origins of 'Safe Words', it'll be men created them because they needed some indication of what women ACTUALLY want..

I'd also say two more reasons:

One is that it's just interesting to look at a non-mainstream mindset, at least for people as a whole.

Another is that people are interested because they think anyone who isn't doing what the WEF wants them to is part of a cult, in a classic diversion tactics thing.

Same reason "true crime" is so popular all of a sudden. It's driven almost entirely by women. The behavioral sink is real and it's making privileged western women turn into absolute lunatics.

There's already elements of that, where people who supposedly "believe in" science are just as desperate as the religious Special Creationists for humans to be "singled out as special", in this case, genetically engineered by aliens. ie, they're just as desperate as teh religious types to be able to see themselves as "separated" from the rest of Kingdom Animalia somehow.

It's really disgusting.

(And the same people who think it's shameful to be just another animal but with technology are the same morons who want normies to worship at the feet of retardeds. Yuck.)

It's a popular format of drama. Women probably consoom the most shows, but other than that I don't think the popularity of this variant of the crime drama is gender specific in appeal.

Might be a preemptive strike, mass manipulators love to project their wrongdoings elsewhere before anyone can accuse them of the same.

Maybe the idea that critical race theory/climate alarmism/social justice function more like a cult is starting to take too deep a root. Especially with the Israel/Palestine stuff I've started seeing even millennial aged normies start questioning the cult-like obsession zoomers suddenly have with a part of the world they knew nothing about 6 months ago.

priming the pump

"if it doesn't look like this, it's not a cult!"

Alternatively, it's the new conspiracy theorist. "Sure, they're telling the truth, but they're part of a cult, so don't trust them"

Not hating, but as someone who doesn't watch TV, I wish you'd provide some examples.

Because, as is, I got nothing. I guess I'll take your word for it.

And, yeah, it's probably the fault of women. And, for the record, I'm being serious, it actually probably is, I can absolutely believe that.

Uh, those all look like cult shows.

Especially John Oliver.

Seeing that makes me think TV watching must be absolutely dominated by women. Those all look like things I'd expect a woman to watch.

I also can't think of the last time I've had a discussion with a male friend about a TV show. Ten years ago we did talk about some shows, but I haven't heard a word about TV in years. Do men just not watch these anymore?

I think women consooom more.

You know there are guys off watching anime all day, though.

Yup, it's an interesting dichotomy for me; I'm quite online, but don't have an sort of cable/television subscription, don't enjoy most modern Western entertainment, actively avoid social media, as well as actively avoiding things like YouTube frontpage.

I'll look up some older Western media when the mood strikes (watched The Jackal yesterday, for example), but I'm not really plugged in to any algorithms or frontpages.

I literally have no clue about 99+% of modern entertainment.

I don't interact with normies.

And I'm only half kidding. My job is quite solo, so I don't have coworkers (mostly a blessing), I don't have many friends, and my family is kind of weird like me. So it only comes up rarely, but yes, I do confuse people when they realize I just don't engage in any of the mainstream entertainment they do. I think normies confuse me even more than I confuse them though.

Weird thing is, when it's the normies in my family. Generally the ones I'm not super close to. When they want to talk at length about some trending TV show I've never seen, or sometimes even heard of. Like, random normies I can sort of understand. If it's my own family just being so different, it is a little weird.

How 'bout that Squid Games? How 'bout that Game of Thrones? Tiger King is wild, man!

People relate to cultists. It's the same reason there was a zombie movie fad a few years back. The populace became mindless zombies looking for brains. Over time, that lack of brains was been exploited by the Regime and now the zombie horde have become the Regime's cult.

true crime + serial killer love...

It's not hard to see how there would be a wave of cult stuff when that shit has been popular for years. It's so adjacent.

This kinda shit does come in waves. You get one popular one then a load of shit follows.

It could be a conspiracy for some programming purpose sure. But in gaming there was movement-shooters then battle-royale slop then arena shooters following overwatch... it's all just talentless hack entertainment industry slop because something similar was kinda popular and the meta shifts. I don't think it's all that far fetched for 'cults' to be naturally popular for a while during the larger 'true crime' popularity wave.

Don't forget to factor in that when an idea rolls out in one studio, all the other studios race to try to put out the same idea.

Well, they've been saying the MAGA right are a cult.
Get the normies used to thinking this.
Next Step: Start suggesting de-programming "cultists".
Build "de-programming" camps.
PROFIT!
