Must they affix the soyface to everything?
Also, fuck off to your mudhut you greenskinned bastard. I preferred you at the end of my sword over having you so much as step a foot near my city, you filthy no good orc.
I sat upon a throne of many thousands of skeletons for the austerity of the glorious Alliance and to keep Stormwind pure of your malodorous and criminal kind. I haven't been around since MoP, but we were full then - I assume we are full now. Gtfo scrub. [slaps the camera out of orc-jack's soylent hands]
Letting the one on the right in is synonymous with letting in the one on the left.
Yeah, the horde has gotten a new form of ugly.
The only time I played WoW I daisy chained my deaths at level 1 so I could explore the entire map and then quit.
Those are some of the best times I had.
I hope you're proud of that, cause you goddamned well should be. Fuckin beautiful.
It's fanart. There are representatives of the other Alliance races wandering around Stormwind - including Night Elf and Gilnean refugees - but the closest thing to an orc is a troll emissary who has been surrounded by armed guards at the docks.
Your kingdom will fall and you head will be separated from you shoulders with one swing of my axe tiny human
I have made risen the corpses of your kind to dance macabre; Mine frigid winds have burst the lungs of both your warlocks and medicine men alike. Cleave me and my blood will sieze you by the heart.
I will do unto you what the living cannot.
1v1 me @ stormwind gates nub.
Here’s what made Blizzard so great. That sketch is from the Warcraft 2 manual and it was drawn by Chris Metzen, who also did (and still does) voices for Warcraft. Metzen was a D&D nerd who started at the bottom of the company and worked his way up to the top. His work was awesome, the games were awesome, and quality was rewarded.
If you take a look at recent Blizzard Q&As, developer interviewers etc., it’s clear that “fun games” or “awesome artwork” or irrelevant things like “quality” are no longer important.
What do they care about? ESG / diversity points to cover up previous bad press so as not to hurt the Activision stock price.
Microtransactioning everything.
Churning out products.
Old Blizzard spent years working on projects (Lord of the Clans, Ghost, Project Titan) and then cancelled them when they weren’t fun. Blizzard was infamous for releasing games WHEN they were ready.
Warcraft Warcraft 2 Starcraft Broodwars Diablo Diablo 2 World of Warcraft etc Even Overwatch!
Blizzard went an awful long time without a single miss. Sad, but now they couldn’t find a good game if it was a hole in the ground.
What’s their most popular product now—World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore mode???
Metzen was great when he was working everywhere but the story.
His story writing abilities were so bad that his entire Thrall character arc could be written by modern Blizzard today and it would fit perfectly well into their woke world.
Thrall was always a badly written character made entirely to sell Woke ideas ("we can butcher you for decades but if you are mean to us in return that's MORE EVIL!!") on how the Orcs were actually victims and could be redeemed, but his Green Jesus bit was insufferable.
everybody forgot what the orcs did. She showed up out of nowhere, poured out of a portal from draenor and murdered, raided, enslaved and pillaged their way across a peaceful kingdom before killing the king and sacking the capitol. Stormwind was rebuilt by the shattered refugee remnants of a once powerful kingdom that the orcs totally destroyed. But somehow the humans were EVIIIIIL for responding to this wanton unprovoked destruction with force lol.
The new horde totally is different from the old horde. They no longer support the wanton genocide of the past and are now morally good.
Never mind their capital city is Orgrimmar. It's like germany losing the war and saying they hate Nazism, so their new capital is Hitlerville.
Nevermind that their "peaceful, loving Leader" still screams "FOR DOOMHAMMER" constantly.
You know, the guy who literally conquered Stormwind and set in motion the entire destruction of the continent by driving the humans north where they would set the stage for both the Second and Third Wars.
Would be like people screaming about how great Lenin was in the faces of those who faced genocide and mass starvation under communism. Oh wait, the guys who write for Blizzard probably do that.
That's basically what bugged me about the Black Morasss Caverns of Time instance in Burning Crusade. Why do Alliance players want to ensure that Medivh can open the portal and bring the Orcs into the world again? Even if it changes the timeline, wouldn't it be a lot better to just help the Infinite Dragonflight shank Medivh rather than let half the continent get massacred for a decade or more?
The "official" line was "well, if the Orcs never invaded, then the human kingdoms would have fallen into civil war and the Legion would have won". But, I fail to see how a civil war would have done more damage than the Horde, Jaina could still have easily led humans over to Theramore when the Legion arrived, and without the Horde being in Kalimdor Cenarius and a bunch of Night Elves wouldn't have gotten killed by Grom.
There is something to be said about being autistically devoted to keeping the timeline stable. Once you start meddling, you never have a reason to stop. Every leader will be in your chambers begging you to go back and strangle their rivals in their cribs.
I can understand the logic, even if it probably could have worked out regardless you don't want to risk it or open that can of worms.
That's why Blizzard just recently wrote an entire quest to send you back in time and prevent Alexstraza from escaping early. You need her to spend a couple more years getting gang raped and harvested for babies to protect the timeline. And then go talk to her about it after you finish the quest.
That totally wasn't a fetish for someone in the company. Totally.
I really wanted to play Ghost.
blizz died when they went corporate... it meant bringing in the frat boy business majors and the HR women who then slapped down the frat boys and everyone within 10 miles. cue more woke retribution and diversity quotas, filling them in the only roles where there's no hard and fast consequences for failure... biz ops and game design.
The art really was something. The art books were worth owning just to own what felt like a piece of the universe that you enjoyed being a part of.
Do you remember in warcraft 3 if you clicked on the units enough, they said something? There used to be a line in there from one of the elf NPCs (I think) that said she was going to perform the human mating call "I'm so wasted! I'm so wasted!"
That Blizzard has been destroyed. The one that exists now would consider that poking fun at every woman ever, because that's how it works. Sweaty 99% naked males are okay, but every thing that happens to any video game fictional woman happens to all women, so none of that is okay.
Precisely. Who exactly was “hurt” by a warrior dryad saying “Here’s my human call—I’m so wasted, I’m so wasted!”
The modern day puritans removed that.
Plus fart jokes were removed? I don’t even claim to understand why.
The spit emote was removed. The word "damsel" was stricken from the game, making an entire questline in un'goro crater unfunny and peculiar instead of hilarious.
They removed that and the 40K joke "This Warhammer cost me $40,000 gold"
Yeah, it's the creators not the company that made the greatness.
This makes perfect sense. Blizzard is now a parody of itself. There was always humor in their games, all the way back to Lost Vikings, but that abomination on the right is just mockery.
Also, what is this from? Is this an official Blizzard piece of "artwork" or is it just a fan-made picture that perfectly captures present-day Blizzard and Blizzard fans?
Its Hearthstone. There is a particular style they use for it that I can't describe but you just know it when you see it.
Which does soften how bad it is somewhat, simply because that game has long had goofy, dumb card art for joke cards with weird effects.
It definitely follows the current styleguide ala Lauren D. Austin and I wouldn't doubt its authenticity if it were someone fresh, though plenty of fans are also artists.
I don't know, I got the image off Facebook.
It’s from the Warcraft 2 manual, drawn by Chris Metzen.
Might be art from Warcraft Rumble or Hearthstone.
The creatures puppeteering blizzard's corpse are cashing out on all properties.
Same company replaced women with fruit, not surprised they make orcs into cucks now.
It's World of Gaycraft now.
Blizzard has been rubbish for a long time and even in World of Warcraft days they weren't exactly great to their fans. The characters looks were already changed into cartoon nonsense back when WoD came out.
I hated how weird and lippy the newer models were and how the run animations made everyone look like they suddenly developed aspergers syndrome. Never got past that.
I'm guessing on the opposite side of the spectrum, the Night Elves who where standouts in 3 are now looking less like the amazonian warriors than they used to be?
From what I searched, they appear to still be sexy.
Small victories then
With subscriber numbers in the absolute shitter, they've actually been adding some revealing stuff back into the game.
Woke may have peaked, but it'll take a long long time to get back to based.
How bad are numbers currently, I know Blizzard's other property, Overwatch 2 is doing REALLY bad but how bad is WoW now?
Surprisingly there's still 1.4 million subscribers, but very few of them are actually playing the game. Many were suckered into a 6-12 month subscription with cosmetic goywards.
Player activity is so low, it's quite noticeable in the game world. Just NPCs running around for the most part.
Always knew private servers were going to carry the legacy.
Nonexistent check muscles, cleft-lip, and possibly downs…. That right orc’s mom is also his grandmom and his brother is his dad.
Corwin of Amber
Warcraft was originally supposed to be a Warhammer Fantasy game and you can tell that art gives me the same vibes and damn is it great unlike the faggy second one.
I own the starcraft manual and also diablo 2 strategy guide that is like an inch thick.
The original Diablo's manual is still a favorite of mine.
I still kinda remember the rogue chick's outfit in the art and being disappointed she didn't wear it in-game.
I still play Warcraft 2 from time to time.
Who are the rest of the hires? 👀
