I just thought it was amusing, I guess. Three hours of lectures a week, theoretically about marine mammals, but I would say... 80% of the course content is about ideology, and "saving the planet"...
This is core. Can't avoid it. But it is insane to me that the Head of School, the person who supervises most of my courses, is so ideologically compromised that she essentially runs (STEM) courses like this as her personal ideological crusade...

But anyway, I'm just there to get through this thing, and get my piece of paper, but it's still... Disappointing, I guess, that this is the quality of education I am dealing with.
This same moron has just decided to "do away with" exams, because it is "too hard" to design an exam where students can't just use the internet to find the answers, apparently...
Because apparently the entire concept of closed-book, in-person exams is just "unacceptable" to these people, these days..?

Stop confirming my prejudices please, it's a really sad state of affairs where you learn tons more by completely ignoring the education system. I myself went the self-taught/private tutor route for all my subjects. Much of my life so far has been filling all the gaps in my shitty prior education that was practically non-existent and I've had to re-learn things I should have known properly when I was 8.
I can't fucking imagine how bad it must be at university if they've dropped even basic education standards. Of course because none of these teachers and professors give a shit about their jobs in reality, I bet they just shrug at these students who struggle because they're just there to take the university tuition money and scam people.
The advice out there is to simply keep your head down and not associate with anyone, get your degree and get the fuck out of there and I agree with that especially now.
This is random as well but there was a rumour I saw on 4chan awhile back that zoomer kids are struggling even using a file browser on a standard desktop/laptop, how true is this? Because it did make sense to me that would be the case since they only use phones for the most part.

Yes, Zoomers cannot use PCs properly. I have had high schoolers who can't use a keyboard and mouse, because they have never used anything but a tablet or touchscreen laptop. And if anything breaks, God help you.

Just found out that we (briefly, for less than a week) had accidental access to all of last year's lecture recordings, which were delivered by a different lecturer...
Unfortunately, as soon as this bitch found that out, she removed all of that content, "because it was out of date".
In reality, it would be so we couldn't "get ahead"/get that extra information, and bank it, possibly even before Census date (i.e. you could somehow offload the lectures, and then drop the course, if you really wanted to), but I mean... Seems pretty petty to just take that away, because you can, simply to force everyone to only have access to this year's content, week by week, lol...
Like, if the old course information/content is there, and we want it, IMHO, it should be accessible to us. But of course some academics (like her) see it differently, lol...

Reminds me of a science class I took a few years back. My two favorite bits I remember were "Global warming is real and there is no debate" and the absolute batshit rants she would go on about stuff that was clearly not real.
My favorite was "Human cloning is real, and they are doing it at neighboring university", like wouldn't that be world news if that was true? Like how are you a professor of science? It was mind boggling she was saying this shit to 18 year olds.
