So you are telling your congregation that God makes mistakes? I’d say the Bible is very clear about there only being two genders.

It's also very clear about man laying with another man but they just don't care anymore.

Seeing these churches twisting themselves into knots trying to justify it is both hilarious and sad. We all have our sins we struggle with. That doesn’t mean we try to play the game of “well actually the Bible never really condemns it”

In Christianity the soul and body are not separable. You can't have a female soul in a male body; you are your body. Gnostics get out! REEE!

If it's a Protestant sect I wouldn't be surprised. It's probably not intentional as the Protestants I know of and grew up around simply lack the doctrinal knowledge, but in practice there's a distinct gnostic undercurrent. The body and the world is nasty, broken, etc.

Granted this could be a low-church thing.

the body and this world are NOT nasty, broken, etc

That's a hot take in Current Year.

The opposite. The Catholics I know hardly know anything about the Gospel

Kind of looks like that time Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was experimenting with mescaline.

To be fair, you guys do this to yourselves.

Your entire religious faiths are founded on the idea that your "real" self is stored in some intangible, invisible, undetectable information-entity container you call a "soul", and that the human body is just a vessel for said soul.

By your own base principles, there is no reason there couldn't be an oopsie at some point in creation or development.

You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you're going to make shit up, you can't get mad when other people join in on the game of calvinball and make up more shit to tack onto your shit.

You’re incorrect, seeing the body and soul as two separable things (as in soul is real me, body is merely container) is a heresy from the earliest days of the church known as Gnostic Dualism. It stems from a fundamental misunderstanding that you apparently have as well. We are not merely a soul in a container, but rather we are both body and soul. hence why the body is treated with respect after death, if Christians didn’t believe the body mattered and was merely a container they would have sky burials or something similar.

I highly recommend you learn a bit more about the foundational religion your society is built off of before acting like you know things.

This is correct. There is also extensive scripture about the purity of the body as it affects the soul, and why people were STRICTLY forbidden from consuming the blood of another person, as it contains the essence of their soul.

Looking at this from a science perspective…

There’s probably a reason why most non-primitive cultures outlawed that practice…

Namely blood-borne illnesses. Of course, the ones that didn’t outlaw cannibalistic shit ended up with fucking kuru, et al…

Clearly “the ancients” figures this shit out over only a few generations, at least in, umm, “civilized” society…

Anti-Gnosticism is the most based part of this board I have ever seen.

The, for lack of a better term, constant vocal christ-faggotry is the most cringe part of this board. You lot would be just as zealous in muhammed-buggery or jewery if you were simply born to different parents, but you're too blind to see the sheer absurdity of your positions.

I wish the fucking leftists could leave well enough alone, so we wouldn't all be shoved into this hole together, but here we are.

Wouldn’t all of those same contentions apply to you? Saying to someone “If you were an entirely different person, born to different parents, time and place, then you would not be who you are right now!” is about as midwit a statement as I have ever heard.

The key difference is that I don't make any claims to holding any sort of universal truth about reality or the human condition.

Those suffering from a severe case of religiosity do.

To insist that your viewpoint, which only exists from your geographic and economic place of birth and style of upbringing, is the definition of right and proper, true and correct, is utter retardation.

But, please, go back to wallowing in your superior beliefs and laughing at "midwit statements" that you don't actually comprehend.

Mate, you can't simply wave away criticisms of your make-believe ideology by tacking on more arbitrary rules based around unfalsifiable "trust me bro" concepts.

You are not a body with a soul, you are a personality matrix that exists as an emergent function of a highly complex and specialized biological neural network. You are software emulated on meatware, supported by a complex mobile life-support and environment manipulation meat suit. You don't even sense reality; rather, you imagine what reality looks like through the feedback mechanisms of EM-sensory organs throughout your body.

There is nothing magic or supernatural about you, or any mobile matter configuration we classify as "living".

You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you're going to make shit up, you can't get mad when other people join in

The history of sectarian schisms, dogmatic disputes, and even the other comments here arguing against strawman Gnostics proves that you're wrong.

Yes, people wasting entire lifetimes arguing over their favorite version of their favorite work of fiction is proof of the validity of that fiction.

By that logic, star wars is a real tradition, and jedi is a legitimate religious occupation.
