Title IX was passed when the male/female split in colleges nationwide was 55/45 - a ten point difference.
Now it's 40/60, a twenty point difference the other way, and there are no protections for men.
Keep that in mind, White Americans.
That's 15 points
Title IX was passed in an era where men attended undergrad over women by a difference of 55-45=10 points.
Now, women attend over men by 60-40=20 points, twice the difference from when Title IX was passed, yet there are no male protections, despite Title IX being ostensibly sex-neutral.
I thought you meant a 15-point swing from where it was before.
95%+ of female math majors are doing it to go into education, usually with a plan of getting a masters in math education. The amount of women that are doing math to actually do math either in applied math in industry or PhD level mathematics is almost certainly the lowest out of any of these categories, even comp sci or engineering.
The same is true for biology, psychology, etc the majority of these women grab a 4 year in “science” field then do teaching, admin, or hr. Women gravitate to the lowest risk jobs in every field, and advanced degrees require things like writing scientific studies competently (or used to). This is also why “social” sciences don’t have the same requirements of graduation as “objective/ hard” sciences (or at least until social sciences corrupted everything).
Also journalism. Many go that path, even after graduating in a different field…
Or go work in a fucking zoo/wildlife park/as a ranger, which shouldn’t require a degree (except as a vet, obviously), but anyway…
Many people say “men are interested in things and women are interested in people”
But what if the reality is : “women have a massive in group preference and female teachers remove men from their subjects”
Tbf, the creepy male teachers who deliberately pay extra attention to the female students in the class (I’ve met… More than one) aren’t much better in this regard…
Which is not to disagree with your comment - I’m just saying… Uni’s are bad for this shit…
And it’s not illegal either, it’s just morally and ethically dubious, so it goes on all the time…
Edit: I’ve seen it go the other way with female TAs and male students, a couple of times, too… Rarer, but it clearly does happen.
Just bad all round.
blech
You must have not gone to college if you haven't had at least one male professor usually a liberal who is overly attentive to women in class lol
Shit is still creepy and those dipshits will literally fuck over male students so fuck em
Sometimes even being a victim of the enemy can't break the brainwashing.
And for some reason when Imp says this people downvote him en masse but when other people say it, it gets upvoted.
Do not question the magical 3-4 red numbers that trail every post he makes. His sincerest fans make active efforts to follow his every post to do that and be noticed by their senpai.
The computer science rise and fall is one I literally see all the time.
If I go onto youtube, and a woman is explaining some computer code to me, she's either 50 years old, or she's a dude wearing a lipstick.
What is up with that CompSci spike in the 80's? Well a few of them jumped up around that time, but that's the only one that crashed back down to earth.
The new home computer market meant there was an explosion of interest in and availability of computers and jobs.
On the other hand mini computers didn't require any kind of deep theoretical learning.
Basically CS in the 80s was really easy. Over time it's required more and more specialized knowledge and that favors the people who can put in the work and evaluations are on merit. If your term assignment is to code up a compiler and you turn in an essay on how compilers discriminate against historically marginalized architectures then you fail.
It’s much higher than that for Biology, in Australia, now…
At least at every Uni I have seen.
I would say closer to 80+%. I am frequently one of only a handful of males in a class of 40.
Doesn’t apply in Chem so much, but even “Bio Statistics” courses would be at least 70%+ here…
Then again, we don’t have private colleges (not in the same way the US does, at least), and I think our rate of “tertiary education” in general is higher, so… Eh.
It’s extremely rare to meet a middle class woman below, say, 40, now, who hasn’t got a Bachelors… Like, it’s an extreme outlier (I know a few. But none of them are what I would call “normal”)…
The history one looks a bit high. Architecture looks about right. Health professional IE nursing or technician isn't high enough to be accurate. Most Biology majors are looking for a doctor to marry.
Apparently this is “BAs” only, so it doesn’t include BS degrees (lol), or like, MBBS…
Which is confusing.
You can’t do BAs in nursing, or biology, or similar, here… Well, not like this chart suggests, anyway!
BS is a common joke. MS stands for More Shit. PhD is Piled Higher and Deeper.
About half these BAs are going for an MRS.
CompSci would be higher for the last decade if the graph tracked women and not females :p
Haha but seriously, you almost have to know how the statistician is defining sex- or gender-related terms anymore or the data isn’t as useful as he purports. I suppose for a fifty year spread like this one we’re safe in assuming “man” and “woman” mean what we think they mean for most of the years covered, at least
That is pretty close to showing the average IQ of college graduates per subject with the lowest being on top.
So, easy things and ways to harm people.
You dumb motherfucker.
I would argue straight Biology isn’t that much harder than the average…
Chem can be, but Bio? It’s a lot of work, sure, but it ain’t… Advanced Calculus or Linear Algebra. 🤷🏻♂️
Personally I preferred Linear, though. Not because it was in any way easier, but because it was less bullshit-writing…
I hate writing (large amounts of) bullshit. It’s why I keep fucking up Uni. Not so much scientific reports, but more extreme long-form essay type shit…
You’d be surprised how much of that there is in a Biology degree.
Anyway, I fucking hate academia, so it really doesn’t matter the discipline, anymore. I just… Can’t seem to function properly in that world. Unfortunately… 😑
Remember that this chart is for BA, not BS degrees. I didn't even know a BA in Biology existed. But apparently it does:
https://blog.collegevine.com/biology-ba-vs-bs/#dif
So, it's "biology-lite". Unsurprising that women would dominate the watered down version of a science degree
I'm not the OP. The data line at the bottom says the data is from the Department of Education. And "Carpe Diem AEI". I would imagine whoever AEI is created it.
Ohhhh ok, right. That doesn’t exist here…
Explains a bit, then, lol!
You can do combined “Arts Science” here, which I guess is the equivalent, but it’s over 5 years…
BAs in Science just don’t exist in the Australian system, though… 🤷🏻♂️
To be the devil's advocate, or the imp's advocate at least, there aren't a lot of schools that offer "Harming People" as a Bachelor degree. If you want to learn how to effectively harm someone, psychology or health sciences are the most logical routes to take: They teach exactly what harms people, because they need to teach that in order to clarify what helps people.
Your logic, as I can infer it, is street drug manufacturers would never take any chemistry courses or education, because street drug makers use chemical knowledge to harm people, and chemistry courses teach how to NOT do that, so clearly, it would be of no help to them.
Not saying he's right, just that your thought process is odd at best here.
